  1. Full hip replacement. I am the first one of the day. Just hope the old saying about buying cars on Monday and Fridays doesnt apply to new hips! !!!!!!!!!!!

Wife (sunnyside 226) will update with news.

Thanks for the well wishes. Looking forward to walking and bending without pain and with more range of motion.

  2. It is capable of 5.5lbs double action reliably. I keep it set on 8lbs to keep my trigger finger in shape for the long high count stages. (and shoot winchester primers since they are cheaper than federals) this is now my practice gun (when i get 2)

  3. One thing to put in the back of your mind.

Once your stage plan has gone south......your fault, the guns, FTE, ect.

Fix the problem. Continue the stage and make sure to get as many points on the targets as you can!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your time you could have gotten is gone. CAN'T do anything about that. BUT you can get whatever points available left to help keep the hit factor as high as possible. ;)

  4. You might pick up a forward mount like on the Springfield Scout Squad rifle and use a red dot type scope.

I shot my scout squad and used a 1x7 Burris EEX eye relief pistol scope on it a few years. Good set up, but you have to be perfectly centered on the scope to see through it after about 3x. (wouldn't use anything but a Burris either, as they are the toughest and have a lifetime warranty. MADE IN USA)

I, like Kurt now go Iron sights and thin the front blade down to where there is not a problem seeing LaRue and MGM targets at 400 yds.

  5. Elizabeth uses a 4" 646 and I use a modified 6" 646. I make our match loads to go major in her gun and don't worry about mine. After the last time I was in Barry at the 2011 Single Stack Nationals and it was 40 degrees. I waited for a good cold day to work up some match ammo for the 2013 Revolver Nationals. (Actually had the chance because I was working close to home).

I use 180 grn Precision Delta FMJ (closest thing to a true round nose I have found in 40 cal) Vit N320 4.3 grns and Federal Small pistol primers. Brass is nickle mixed manufacturer.

I would load 6 rounds of various weight powder fill, and take them outside to let them cool off from the inside temp they were assembled in. (outside temp that day was 38 degrees) I settled on the 4.3 as it made 171.958 (average) Powerfactor out of her gun as she has asked me to get it as close to 172 as I could. (I shoot all 6 and average the least 3)

At the chronograph stage for the Revolver Nationals she only needed 3 shots and her average was 169.863 not too far off and within my allowance for chrono to chrono differences.

My gun with the same load that same day at home made 176.something. Fine by me as I can't tell the difference until we get close to the 190 power factor. My gun at Revolver Nationals chrono made 180.520 a tid bid higher than expected, but good enough.

I also would like to say thanks to all who gave me a donation for the Memphis Charity Challenge to LeBohneur Childrens Hospital at the match. The generosity of the people in our sport still amazes me after being in the sport for 12 years now. Obviously there is enough enthusiasm out there for 100+ revolver shooters at a single USPSA match so lets try to do the same with the 2014 Memphis Charity Challenge, and 2014 USPSA Revolver Nationals.

    Edit to add:

Was slightly disappointed the USPSA President wasn't at the USPSA Revolver Nationals, or at least sent a statement. He's doing MUCH better than our previous one though !!!!!!

  6. Well it looks to have worked out pretty well. Congrats to USPSA, Single Stack Society, PASA Park, Jerry, and Annette the two 1st time National Champions at a Stand Alone Nationals.......Well deserved wins By the Way.

Squad 12 was a Blast to shoot with. Thanks to all in the squad for putting up with a slow crippled guy. Thanks especially to my Wife Elizabeth for all the help and encouragement !!!!!!!!!

  7. Since the 646 is harder to come by, and you have a willing source.....GET IT NOW !!!!!!!!

610s are a little easier to find. having shot both. I prefer the 646 by LEAPS and BOUNDS over the 610.

Now a little bit of a suggestion.........Use the 625 for everything but the match you want to shoot the 646 in. (So you don't wear the 646 out) and they will both suit you fine and last a long time. (also leave the trigger on the 625 a little heavier to keep the forearm good and strong)

  8. Hi guys and gals.

Thanks for the support. I'm humbled by the comments. If you would like to send a donation for LeBohneur Childrens Hospital and are not going to be at the Revolver Nationals. Make a check out to Memphis Charity Challenge and send it to Sam Keen 800 Browns Lane #R3 Gallatin, TN 37066

If you are going to the USPSA Revolver Nationals make a check out to Memphis Charity Challenge and I'll see you there.

  9. After many miles and nights spent in hotels thinking about it. With no end in sight (and other reasons) I have made the decision to cancel the 2013 Memphis Charity Challenge.

I would like to thank the Awesome people at the Memphis Sport Shooting Assn for all the support and generosity in the past (we were not charged any Range Fees) and All the fine sponsors in the past. Especially.....Springfield Armory, North Mountain, Sierra Bullets, Bang Inc., Precision Delta Bullets, Apex Tactical, Hearthco Moonclips, Tk Custom, Mississippi Classic, Tennessee Section, ICORE ......and the list goes on but Thanks to all.

Work has kept me busy this year (More this year than last 2 combined) and I'm NOT going to throw you fine people a match together at the last minute because I have a set standard that I will NOT allow the MCC to go below.

I still have some loose ends with the 2012 MCC to tie up. After that I expect to donate LeBohneur Childrens Hospital another $3000 for a total of $16,000 since the MCC has been around.

Thanks to all that have been supporting the Memphis Charity Challenge, and LeBohneur Childrens Hospital. I fully intend to bring you the 2014 version of the MCC in what ever format the division is next year as a level II or maybe III.

With regret for the 2013 Memphis Charity Challenge, and LeBohneur Childrens Hospital.

    Sam Keen
