  1. I have the Midway comp bag. It's actually a great piece of gear for the money. Catch it while it's on sale(about every other month) and you can't go wrong.
  2. SO does anybody have a PDF, or link, or something of last years rules they can send me?
  3. I've been waiting for the same thing. If it doesn't happen at the SHOT show this January, I'm giving up on it and going down a different path. Don't quite know what that is yet though. Either mod the std 930, maybe the CZ 712, sell a kidney to get an SLP, or sell my soul to get an M2. I've got a freind that's going to the SHOT show that's going to try to get a straight answer out of them. I e-mailed Mossberg back in about October and they told me the gun would be ready next year, whether that's January or next December.....who knows, I asked and didn't get a reply. I guess they're too busy building the "Chainsaw" models and other novelty guns, to move forward with what we've all been waiting for, but then again, while we're gaining momentum, the 3-gun crowd probably isn't considered a huge market yet. All I know for sure is I need a new shotty by March, and with a kid coming in February, dropping $1500 isn't really an option (at least not one that will go over well with the spousal unit). Well I finally got tired of waiting. Found a brand new M2 for under $1k and pulled the trigger. My buddy is building himself a 930 though so I'll still get a chance to try one.
  4. Wow, 10" targets at 400 yards. That's going to be a challenge for my 5 MOA dot Burris Extreme Tactical red dot, I may need to re-think my set up a bit.
  5. There are a lot of good triggers out there for the AR. For my precision rifles I love the Jard as they can easily be tuned down to a crisp 1.25lb pull and I actually prefer it to the Jewell, McCormick and the Timney. With the Jard though you have to be pretty good at trigger adjustment, not something for the complete novice. I haven't had a chance to try the Geiselle trigger so I can't comment on that, but I've heard good things. Best bang for the buck though is the RRA 2-Stage match trigger. A while back there was a guy selling LPK's with them for like $100 on GB. This is what what I'm running in my current 3-gun rig with 100% reliability. I've run thousands of rounds threw them without one sign of malfunction or breakage. Plus if you're a novice you just pin it in and go. Unless you're looking to build a flat out Battle rifle, just about anything out there beats a Mil-Spec trigger.

  7. Thanks for all the info guys, this is good stuff. Anyone have a motel/hotel in the area they would recommend.
  8. So in planning what type of vehicle to bring, how handy is it to bring the 3-gun carts to this match? Also what size targets should I expect for the longer (say 400 yard) rifle stages?
  9. No mention of the Stoner SS 30 rd mags here. Anyone run them. I've been using them for a long time and found them to be just as reliable as my P-mags.
  10. After some encouragement from my friends from the MN 3-gun group I'm thinking this is going to be my first trip to a major 3-Gun. It also happens to be the closest at only an 8 hour drive (sic). Really looking forward to this. Feel free to pass along any tips to the new guy attending his first major. See you all there!!!
  11. I've been running the CCW 6 rounders and so far they've worked great. Not the most comfortable to bend over with though if you have them in the front. Doesn't seem to bother me if I'm shooting, but definetly notice them when helping with re-sets, mostly re-setting poppers. The four rounders would be a lot better in that respect though. The design itself seems solid. Yes there are better out there, but for the price they're GTG.
  12. If that's what you have, I say go use it and have fun. I used my 1300 Defender in a match a couple weeks ago also. It worked OK, but not perfect. Mine throws a huge pattern and didn't put enough pellets on target to tip some of the poppers. They also had a MGM spinner that I didn't even try (took one shot at it to avoid FTE penalty and took the FTN). Might have worked better if I had some larger shot to use on the steel targets. I was just using #8 reloads I shoot trap with. Worked good on the clay targets though. Mine also has rifle sights on it so it worked great for slugs. The 7 shot mag is a slight handicap. The gun itself is great though, it has the slickest action I've ever felt on a pump gun, the trigger is good and it's pretty smooth to reload. If it had chokes it would be great for HM.
  13. Yeah I just got lucky. I happened to be outside when the neighbors were cleaning their garage. I heard them say they were going to throw it out and I swooped in. It was pretty rough when I got it, but the price was right (FREE) and it only took an hour or so to straighten it all out and do a little welding. It kinda looked like bigger kids than it was designed for had gotten ahold of it. Here's a pic of just the cart.
  14. Just put this one together last night. Started out as a crusty POS baby-blue and yellow baby jogger my neighbor was going to throw away. Did a little bit of straightening and welding to fix the frame. Then I realized the included seat was way too small to for my range bag, so out it went and built a platforn for the bottom. Viola....bag fits perfect. Sanded the whole works down and re-painted it. Then just added a couple $25 ATV mounts. I still have a few mods to make but so far it seems like it should work great. Still planing to add some kind e-brake (other than the bungee cord I'm using for now). It doesn't break down as easily as some of the newer jogger's (probably takes 10 minutes with an adjustable wrench), but it's stable, sturdy and so far I only have about $60 in it.
  15. I must like smoking moose moss then. The prototypes were out last August and there was scuttle-butt about them going into production in 30 days…..then it was the SHOT show…….then it was next summer……then it was in a couple weeks (coming from their VP). All I know is, I’m going to get a new shotty to replace my 1100 by this April, so I have some time to work with it before the matches start here. So that’s what I’m trying to find out…..Will I be able to buy this weapon by April? If it’s going to drag out until mid-summer I have to come up with a new plan. Maybe I’ll mod a 930 Waterfowl, maybe I’ll go with the SLP. If that’s going to be the case, I’d like to start looking for a good deal now on the back-up plan. It’s been a while on this thread since there was an update, and just wondering if someone out there had any inside info that held water, which IMHO ben b. obviously doesn’t have.
  16. Been somewhat patiently waiting on the release of the 930 "JM Pro Series". Mossberg rep emailed me back yesterday saying that the guns will be released some time next summer. Though just last Sunday on Gresham's Guntalk radio, Tom Taylor from Mossberg said they are going to be out in a couple weeks. Anyone out there with some solid info on this? If the best they can do is "some time next summer" my money is going to FN.
  17. Thanks Dover, I'm actually planning on doing more traveling this year to hit some of the in state shoots. I just really want to get something going at my home range. We have a great area to work with and nobody hosts a 3 Gun anywhere within 100 miles of here(probably 300 miles in any of the other three directions). If I have it my way we'll be hosting a national event in 5 years.....yea it a long shot.
  18. Just ordered mine for $650+$25 for shipping. Really hoping to have it by this weekend to give it a run. So far all the reports I have heard come back extremely positive.
  19. Hey everyone. Been lurking here for a few years and finally got off the pot and get registered. I live in Morris, MN and am the secretary of the Morris Rifle Club and chairman of our local FONRA Chapter. Just about every weapon I own is some sort of home brewed concoction. I've also build a couple dozen AR's and several high end 10/22 clones. I'm also an avid reloader. I'm trying to get a 3-gun event going in my area, as there is nothing for events within 100 miles of here. Had our first shoot this fall, but fell way short on competitors. I'm not giving up yet I'm going to keep grinding at least for one more year to try and get the ball rolling. This seemed like a great place to get info and advice on how to get a successful event going. I'm also pretty new to the game myself so I'm also in it for the education. Thanks all....Look forward to chattin with ya
