  1. I hear BaggerDubs has a very nice new house nearby...If you talk sweet to him you never know what he might offer. The fiancé moves in this weekend - I can no longer offer free accommodations to my shooting friends - no telling what kind of shenanigans you all would start! But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun...
  2. It will be very interesting to see how many people don't shoot the match now due to the change of venue.

  4. Well apparently it has been a year and a half since I last posted here. Upon review, I had pretty much stagnated on my shooting development, even seen some major regressions at times. I started on my MBA at the beginning of last year and have been struggling to find a good work/life/school/shooting balance. My professional ambitions are very lofty (Hence the MBA) and add in the fact that my girlfriend works nights, so our time spent together is very oportunistic, there has been very little time for shooting. I think I have the work/life/school balance working pretty well right now, so I am going to try adding in more shooting. I won't be able to practice 2-3 times a week like I used to for various reasons, but I am going to make it my goal to have at least one live fire session every week. I am also going to make it my goal to dry fire at least 4 times per week. By trying to meet these lofty goals, I am finding that scheduling is becoming extremely important. On weekends, I can't get up at 9 and start being productive at noon and can't go home and lay on the counch for an hour. I can unwind from work just as easily reloading as I can watching TV. For at least the first major of my 2015 season, I have decided to shoot single stack. I have been getting bored with production and felt I needed a different challenge. It was slow getting everything together to properly compete, but I am finally there. I had been dry firing with my Springfield Range Officer a bit before Xmas, but more just to get a feel of the gun. I have to say....those skinny mags are a bit tricky. I'm finding that a developed pause right before insertion is crucial. I can't sling it up there like my production mags. A slight error with them might only cost me a few tenths of a second, but with SS that can easily be a full second added. Sunday was my first match with the gun, and only got to zero the gun in the day before. I made the decision to just shoot for points this match. That lasted all of the first three stages before I decided I wanted to see what would happen if I cut it loose a bit. I'm glad that I changed strategies for one stage as I found out that I can shoot that gun just as fast as my production gun. In the heat of the moment, I didn't notice any difference in recoil (which I noticed when trying to shoot straight points). My big problem of the match came on the last stage. It had arrays that forced you to shoot eight good shots three times in a row. A single miss on steel forced a standing reload. After cutting loose on the previous stage, I had a hard time changing gears and going back to basics. I need to be able to change gears not only between stages, but between arrays or even individual targets. I will design some drills that force me to switch gears. Single Stack is going to be a difficult challenge to master, but I think I am up for the occasion.
  5. I personally wouldn't go with the priming quick change assembly. It's pretty easy to change primer rotary plates so to me it is not worth the expense. The other stuff looks right to me.
  6. Just an update. I finally got it working now. While lightly greasing it seemed to work for a bit, it only stayed working for 50 rounds or so. Turns out, the ejector rod is pushing up and hits the case feeder. I had used the shell bearing kit from PowerFactor shooting that I got at a prize table last year, but that was pushing the rod up too high. Remove that kit and the rod wasn't coming up anymore. I went 150 rounds without a hiccup last night, except for those pesky small primer brass that I missed.
  7. Just to torment a certain individual....wait and release the stages the week before the match. Still publish round count and such so we can all plan accordingly, just no diagrams until the week of.
  8. I'm reloading 45 ACP. The press is brand new out of the box (ordered from Graff's as brother in-law gets dealer pricing). It seems as if there was some stiction due to being over greased as when you push forward to prime, the casefeeder part didn't move. I cleaned the grease off and put a thin coat back on and it seems to be working fine now.
  9. Maybe no paper targets, but you can use the self sealing targets now.
  10. I just got my new 650 set up, ran through ~50 rounds without dies just to watch the operation and then finalized my set up. Once I was dialed in on my load, I was having problems with the cases not being pushed into station 1 as I pushed the handle forward to prime. It appears as if this works off spring pressure to slide the case in the rest of the way, but I do not see a way to adjust this pressure. Any ideas?

  15. I'd go back to sleep at that point. I can deal with living in the Matrix.
  16. I hate it when a dream is so real that when you wake up you can't tell the difference between the dream world and reality. Was convinved I got a 100% on my Finance Term paper for my MBA....extremely disappointed when I logged onto Blackboard this morning and saw that grades weren't posted yet. Went from thinking all I needed was a 50% of the final to get an A in the class to not even sure what I need to do to pass the class yet.
  17. The only other thing I can find against it would be the first principle: On the other hand, I don't see it being a problem if say, a sectional championship opened up registration for section members first and the match fills up before other people can register. A club match limited to club members would just be a variant of that. If it was a case of the match always being full, then I see no problem in giving club members preference in registration. But if the match was not at capacity, not only is it not in your best financial interest to turn people away, it leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths about the way things operate. People should not be barred just because they are not a part of the "in crowd". I'd say limiting the match to club members goes against the first principle of USPSA.
  18. I had this exact same issue with BBI 125's and this is what eventually solved it. I could never find the right bell for the Redding Die but the Dillon Die works like a champ.
  19. They just CANNOT close a game! Time to make Verlander a closer instead of a starter.
  20. AngledTuxedo.zip Here you go.Need to zoom in really close to get the correct points to move and rotate.

  22. https://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-join-renew.php Associate Foreign Anual membership is $35 (hint hint)
  23. I am using a Redding Competition Seating die with 125 gr. BBI bullets. I have adjusted the bell on the case from barely any to way too much and everywhere in between. About 1 in 20 bullets have heavy lead shaving and about 50% had some but not much. Using mixed brass, but couldn't track the shaving issue to one particular type of brass (and was making sure 9mm makarov didn't sneak in either). I finally decided to stop messing with it and put the Dillon seating die in. Without changing the belling (from moderate), the shaving issue went completely away. What gives?
