  1. How often can polls or questionnaires reach a sample where n=N? This isn't a census. I doubt even the USPSA can officially carry out a poll like this that will satisfy your requirements. There may be the odd one or two who never receive a letter that could hypothetically be sent out, and are not aware, and thus do not respond nor know of the poll. I'm not saying this poll satisfies proper criteria for real statistical analysis or even for a fair representation of the target population. Of course, participants of this forum as a subset differ from the N of USPSA. By being on these forums, one can hypothesize that the member is more involved than a USPSA member not involved in these forums. Or any other number of potential causes. Unless you want to hire a statistician and a research team (I promise my fees won't be that high!) then these polls are just informal and represent nothing beyond the Benos member population that have in interest in the "USPSA/IPSC Shooting" fora (or somehow stumbled across this thread) - rather than the USPSA as your target population.
  2. IPSC has different disciplines - action air and the new proposed .22 rimfire will be just that. I don't think anyone could justify running .22 rimfire as a "division" alongside production, limited etc. It would have to be a separate entity.
  3. Want to shoot higher capacity than 10? Shoot Standard/limited.
  4. IPSC will be introducing a .22 rifle discipline. Separate discipline (like how action air is separated from handguns), so one would not run both events simultaneously. I think it'd be great for the juniors.
  5. Tokyo Marui guns (as with all stock Japanese GBBs) comes with a plastic slide built for the pressure of duster / HFC134a. Using propane/green gas with it will eventually crack the slide. It is not a magazine issue. Green gas, or HFC22, is an ozone depleting agent. It's not good for the environment either. At least 134a smells nicer. We have been using both gases in Hong Kong, Japan... and all over Asia for airsofting for well over a 2 decades now. The amount you'd be exposed to honestly wouldn't concern me, especially since most shooting is done where there is ventilation. In an enclosed apartment though......
  6. Noticed that on my CCI primers, and found metal shavings or some other long thin debris on the primer pusher. Cleaned it off, the indentations ceased!
  7. Lock down lifted; it appears that the yet-to-be identified male found dead may be the shooter. A firearm was recovered near the body. Awaiting official word.
  8. ... ... You mean you don't modify your guns so they look more intimidating?
  9. I would never sell a gun I was comfortable with - more importantly, I would not sell a gun that I then might need the following week and subject myself to wait for a new gun to come in. Like I mentioned above, a swap would resolve both of these concerns - because in sports where a claimer rule is in place an d successful, the setup should be identical across competitors. To put it into the context of our sport is frankly absurd.
  10. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-16099552 Let's hope they catch and arrest this guy very soon.
  11. How is stippling and internal modifications a stock gun? Stock gun = stock. Out of the box. Claimer rules work when everyone is (supposedly) running the exact same setup. Does it not run on a swap basis - whereby the "claimer" claims the winner's (or top 3) motor, and swaps it for his/her own? That would only work if EVERYONE shot the same gun, supposedly stock. No modifications would be allowed at all (sights, grip tape), since it should be a straight-across swap for my Glock 17 for the winner's Glock 17. Which is not the case. So it will never work and is a rather daft idea at best.
  12. Our weekly league nights are quite relaxed and are mostly a practice session for people taking part in the monthly level 3 matches. The (rather informal) stage briefing/walkthroughs will always emphasize the basic trigger finger rules and 180 - down to where to be when shooting targets close to 180 and to get the point across. I think it works well that way. If an infraction occurs, the RO would talk to the individual alone afterwards, and emphasize the point at the next stage's briefing.
  13. A lot of dropped guns I find are from competitors walking around and hitting things with their holsters/pistols. Fairly small ranges here, not much room; when lots of competitors are around and walking past each other, holsters can bang on holsters (which often results in one or both being somehow hooked onto the other), or knocking holsters on doorways.
  14. Most of my work time is spent right here...
  15. Yeah! really? Yes. Really. Very much seconded.
  16. That's why I asked the question. I've seen it happen a few times here. Less it just dropped, but lots of competitors, small spaces = people hitting holsters on things. If I felt my gun drop, I would trap it/catch it and not let it fall. I don't think it's really a decision, but rather a reflex!
  17. I aim for 1.13 in my Glock 17. Between 1.25 to 1.35 and my gun shoots more accurately than I can.
  18. Stories like this make my day Very well done, and a very big thank you to the supporting vendors and the shooters!
  19. With the upcoming IPSC World Shoot in Florida, shouldn't USPSA clubs start heading towards IPSC rules if only just for the WS? No bias here, we're stuck with one system up North
  20. CED makes reactive steel arrays Although you could always rig something up! Now if only there was a safe way to get exploding targets (ala Top Shot) - the kids would love that!
  21. Production: cheap. That's it. Open (soon!): Always have been fascinated by it. Guns look cool
  22. I would also love to have Open 10 - since all open up here in Canada is open 10! It's why we are not competitive at an international level. If there was a USPSA Open 10, more of us Canadians shooting open can travel down and shoot in your matches! IPSC Standard division doesn't allow for dots. There WAS an IPSC modified division which was basically open division with a physical size limit, but even that is gone now - they removed it. Strange, removing a division that whilst not exactly well populated, that people still shot - and more importantly, had a lot of money invested in. But that's the IPSC and neither here nor there in this discussion!
  23. Awesome idea! That's how things started in Hong Kong, and now it is one of the biggest airsoft IPSC nations in the world, spreading the sport to other parts of Asia. I do believe that with the correct attitude, handling airsoft guns properly does help build comfort levels. I know I transitioned into real firearms very well because of years of airsoft (Since I was 5?) Just ensure that the liability aspect is covered to prevent any grief on your part, no matter how slight... eye protection is a must. Good on you for wanting to expose others to this wonderful sport!
