Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. ncsection.org is your friend. Has all the listed shoots for the state.
  2. You kinda spell like one though. Thaught this was a shooting forum not a spelling bee, come to think of the way I've been shooting lately I'm not good at either
  3. No way trying to prove one over the other. Like I said in my op it appears I will only be able to make IDPA matches, so I am serious. It is just a time thing, getting to know the rules and skills. I will not deny that my first love is USPSA, but with the time constraints I will have to learn to love a new mistress.
  4. Ok well then, Again not arguing rules and the validity of them just wanted to get a better idea of IDPA. To be honest I have always been told to watch out for "the vets" Not trying to say that the match I have been participating in is doing anything wrong as there rules are IDPA they just are a little more lenient on equipment to allow more shooters to try it out. Sorry if my question offended the Vets,
  5. Hey I currently live in Eastern NC, and I don't talk like a dumb hick, well at least not around here I don't
  6. At the "IDPA" style match I have shoot twice in doesn't matter when you hit it only that you do. Again this is a very lacs match I have been shooting. I think I struggle with the reloads more than anything. Always have trained to reload on the move regardless if the mag is empty or not.
  7. Is this the typical course of fire in an IDPA match. I have not been to an official match, I have always been and USPSA guy and took a 3 year hiatus, I have just gotten back into shooting and since my weekends are still tied up I have been going to a local shooting range match that is not an official IDPA match but loosely based on those rules and for the best of my ability it is killing me, with the 2 to the body, 1 to the head, restricted not restricted, reloading behind cover, not dropping a mag with live rounds. I am not complaining, just trying to get some clarification on a true IDPA match. The game is the game just need to know what I need to work on as looks as though IDPA is what I am going to be able to work into my schedule. All input would be great. Does anyone else struggle with this?
  8. I have already been looking at there stuff just trying to plan appropriately. I have a guy working on some targets and have lined up space to shoot. Plan to start small the build has we get it nailed down.
  9. My plans are to not be an equipment nazi to start with but all other rules apply. Safety first Scoring based on IPSC Action Air Stages that are fast and fun for the new shooters (which the ones I have interested are) A lot of "steel" for the instant gradification. Might actually work something out with the guy that goes to my church that sales airsoft for some type of prizes and loaner guns for people wanting to try it out. I think a lot of guys that already shoot real steel see the competition as useless, but I think it is a huge opportunity to get new blood in. Exspecially kids
  10. Ok so I have been out of the shooting circles for a while due to work and schedule. I have recently been getting back into some local fun matches and have gotten the bug again. I have decided that I will use airsoft as a large portion of my practice as I no longer live where I can walk out my back door with my real gun and shoot, as well as ammo cost. I am lucky enough to have a guy that goes to my church that sales airsoft and will be getting some good deals. I have always been a guy that tries to get people into shooting, and the biggest turn downs are due to cost, time and over all comfort levels with the guns. My thoughts are this, and it may be being done in other places. Setup a monthly airsoft shoot where it is very informal ( with the exception on safety and range commands) but more of a fun shoot, have some guns on hand to put in the hands of people that do not have them. Let them shoot and get comfortable and then when they are hooked bring them over to the real steel side of things. Use it as not only an awesome training tool but as a launching pad to real steel. I believe we would be able to reach younger shooters as well. What would be your thoughts on this idea.
  11. I actually enjoy shooting SS better than my limited gun. So much that I am going to sell it. I have gotten to the point I haven't shot it in so long it would be weird pulling it out.
  12. I shoot the Taurus 1911 and have had not problems at all. Love it. everyone I have ever shot with is suprised that I would shoot with it. But it shot better than I do thats for sure.
  13. When you say find the eights are you shooting until empty or will you make a mag change say after a 6 and having to move to the next array. or are you shooting until a empty mag. I seem to be doing alot of standing changes.
  14. I find the biggest hole in my SS game is stage managent. I have only been shooting a year and most of the guys I shoot with either shoot limited or open, so walking through a stage they try to help but some times forget that I shoot a SS
  15. I made a point to sit her down infront of the TV and watch a recording of the Jr camp the Army put on and pointed out all the girls that were shooting. Afterwards she looked at me and asked if she could have a pink gun with princess stickers. I told her if she shoots it I will build it.
