Never hurts to gather info.

So I picked up my 1301 today. Put a Nordic +5 ext on it. Loaded 8 about 20 times. Lifter needs no work. Light. Great texture to grip and forearm.
Needs a longer FO bead and rear sling swivel. Maybe nothing else.
Looks cool, feels cool, price is real cool...now to see how it shoots shot and slugs. More to come.
Any chance you can measure the length of the mag tube and plus 5 extension? Silly new CO gun law...
-
Can you verify which Nordic mag extension fits? I think I will get one of these...
-
I did a combo of the Hogue palmswell grips and the Pearce Grips 1911 Rubber Finger Groove Insert. The Pearce grip fits beneath and grips you find. Of course you have to like finger grooves.
-
If you have small hands or get slide bite, get the G4. The SF grip is great for the wife, I added a Med Beavertail to it until she wants to shoot it. I dont suffer slide bite in particular but offered that observation.

I managed to wedge one of these to display the problem. Of course it was with the new follower so I installed the Arrendondo base pad insert. This may of course blow my whole theory.
-
I pulled these out of the pile so I don't remember, but I think so...

Unless you have big hands there is no advantage to the 2011 in production minor, or as already stated its not eligible. The CZ is a fantastic gun for production, I shoot a G34 and many others are equally good but not as deep aftermarket stuff.
What do you have now?

Second the WTB ad on here.

The binding come when the cartridges fall below the mag grooves and wedge sideways. The the bullets fall out like a salt shaker. The mag with the longer grooves does not display this problem. The Arrendondo gadget extends fingers up to those grooves theoretically making it a continuous groove and avoiding the wedge. This follower is grooved on the sides so theoretically will ride on those mag grooves and not tilt. Not a perfect fit but worth a trial.

I was playing with some new Para P16-40 mags that I bought off this site and perhaps stumbled across a solution for the infamous Para Mag Extension problem.
The mag with the black base is the desirable one with the channels that run lower than the other. It holds 20 but I can only seem to get 19 in the shorter groove version. I usually have to run the Arrendondo gadget that extends up from the floor plate to keep the spring from binding in the short ones. This trial does not include that gadget.
While walking past my work bench I notices a Follower from a broken M11 Zytel magazine. I think the spring is a stock mag spring. I thought, give that a try... The top pic is the original size, I tried it in the mag and was able to load 14, trimmed it down and it fits 19.
I think the leg length helps stack the spring so it does not bind. I will leave it like this till I get to test it. I may be able to shorten it a tad to get that extra one in but want to function test it before I do.
View from the top. It does not seem to need a filler but one could easily be epoxied on.

I was loading for Lim Maj already and did not want to start loading 45 acp. The Trojan cost $3-400 more than the Spartan but I would easily drop that on gathering the loading stuff for 45 so in my estimation it was a wash. I really enjoy both the SS and 2011 (mines a Para) guns in 40.

It is still hard to pick on a guy holding a pink shotgun.

I had a pair of glasses made with the dominant eye corrected to see the front sight, the other minor distance correction. I got sunglass and impact resistant too so they ended up costing $500. A little strange if you walk around town in them but the work for matches.

Will STI do it for you?
-
How about some pics?
-
If money is an issue the shoot the G34 in production and get good with it. Spend your money on travel and bullets.
-
Since you have the Tripp mags, perhaps call them for suggestions.
I tried to use the Metalform mags that STI ships and it was a jam-o-matic, switched to the Wilson 40 mags and no problems since. I shoot lead too, which may help me.
-
Is it a new gun? I had to shoot my Trojan in about 500 rounds for it to run reliably.
-
Does that S&A work with Mec-gar mags?
-
"for those on the 40 minor band wagon"
40 makes major.
-
I have Hogue wrap around grips on mine and I use a Blackhawk Standard holster (non Serpa). I had to dremel out a little material as the Para is a tad fat around the rear of the trigger guard. I use the same holster for Single stack so no problems with the alteration.
-
I chose a 40 for SS as I was loading and shooting the 40 in limited. I use the same load with either gun. The 40 pistol cost more out the door but when weighing the need for brass, dies and bullets, it all came out even on day one. Other than trying cheap mags at first, it runs like a top with Wilsons.

If it were me, I would add velcro to the right side of the butt stock and attach my velcro shell holder there. I would also attach some to the reciever so you can either leave it on the butt stock or move it to the reciever, or stick two shell holders to the buttstock and move one to the receiver. I would want my ammo stuck to the gun either way when exiting the vehicle.
