I was under the impression that 922r is about manufacturing a gun from parts. The Benelli was the gun in question as it in one of its variants was named in the AWB. Conversion of the sporting version was easily accomplished by swapping parts to mimic the banned gun. Hence the shotgun hangup with 922r and compliance issues.

Wilson sells a larger base pad. I bought some thru Midway.

Wilson mags, lead bullets and I think a 14# spring works for me (but I suck regardless of the pistol). My Trojan is as slick as snot, no regrets.

I had a guy make me a quad for the 1911 mags. I have just played around with it so far but it seems like it will work well.

You can get a dovetail mount for the Burris to try out the concept, it will ride a little higher than machined into the slide obviously.

I snapped a couple of shots of the Dawson G4 medium backstrap installed.
If you run the small grip you will see a small, not really noticable gap below the screw pictured. A large size with the medium grip would give you the same gap.

I put the Dawson Ice Medium on my G4 and it works equally well with no backstrap. The gap is 1mm per backstrap. I do not think you would hurt yourself if you put the large on to use for all three options. I prefer the medium and can remove it for the Mrs and the magwell functions as designed.

Practical shooting (3-gun, USPSA, IDPA, etc.) competitions are not considered a "sporting purpose" by ATF.
I will take my chances then.

When I read all of this talk about assembling foreign parts into a gun, vs buying and modifying a legally imported firearm I am left confused. I did ask the folks at Nordic Components if installing one of their excellent mag tube extensions on my imported shotgun is a violation and they were underwhelmed.

I use 4 grains of Bullseye under a 180 gr lead bullet for major PF. Mostly CCI primers.

My mid bead screwed out just by using my fingers, and that sucker is so small it was hard to get ahold of. I put a little red locktite on it and screwed it back in.
You other guys may want to check your mid beads too, if they haven't fallen out yet.
I checked mine and it was easily unscrewed. Locktite to the rescue.

Maybe grommet is the wrong word, rubber plug.
