  1. I agree. 10# recoil spring is too heavy for 9mm. All you need is 9#. However, everything in the Stoeger kit is all you need. Just get an extra 9# spring or ask them to switch it out. Dawson sight is great. Be generous with red locktite when putting it on. Cut 2 coils off the hammer spring and keep the stock FP spring for reliable ignition and a 6# DA/2#SA trigger pull. I assume you are going with an Extreme hammer and one piece sear? So for the money I'd go with the Stoeger kit.
  2. YES ABSOLUTELY NO QUESTION ABOUT IT YUP ONLY WAY TO GO
  3. Henning Gen 3 or 4 extended firing pin. Stock, no coils cut, FP spring. Wolff 13# hammer spring with 2 coils cut. Functional firing pin safety. Best combination I've found. Practice with whatever primers. Shoot matches with Federal primers. Good luck.
  4. After shooting Stock 2 and Elite Limiteted's Stock III's are nose heavy although ergonomics are slightly better ie. grip. In 9mm I like Stock 2. In 40 minor it's a toss up between Stock 2 and Limited Pro. Might be a slight edge to the Limited Pro. Personal observations only. Good luck.
  5. did you have to fit an extended firing pin block with Titan hammer? I do have a little creep in SA Yes. I have the henning extended FP and needed to put the extended FPB in the slide for the block to work. I'm still having a problem though. Every once in a while when I check it, the FP will move past the FPB when a little extra pressure is applied to it. Not every time, just some times. But when I first put the FPB in the slide, the FP would get stuck beyond the FPB when dry fired. The back plate would fall off the slide when you rack the gun. So I sanded down the FPB from .510 to .508 and it seems to work most of the time. I need it to work 100% of the time though. My main problem is the one piece sear just doesn't move enough for positive engagement for the FPB. I'm considering going back to the 2 piece sear and trying it that way. Here's what you do to make it 100% and I use the stock FPB...use a stock FP spring and a 13# Wolff hammer spring with 2 coils cut off. This spring combination with Henning extended FP, Xtreme hammer and one piece sear will NOT allow FP to lock beyond the FPB. With polishing and the springs setting I achieve a 5.5# DA and 2.25# SA pull. Sets off Winchester primers 99% of the time which I use in practice but Federal primers 100% of the time which I use in matches. You may get a 1/4 pound lighter trigger pull with the Xtreme springs but then you run into the problems you mentioned. I've tried all the combinatons and this has been the best for me. However the light springs work great in a SA only set up w/o the FPB as would be legal in limited but not production.
  6. If this is happening with stock parts on a new firearm then it needs to go back to Sprinfield Armory with original parts put back in of course or they may not warranty it.
  7. There's almost got to be something happening with the recoil impulse vs hand racking of the slide preventing lockup. Especially if it happens with both slide stops. Some little burr in that area of the slide maybe. I had a Trophy Match and they have pretty sharp rough rails. Maybe try stoning/polishing the area of the slide that the slide stop moves up into at slide lock.
  8. Did you ever use the stock slide stop or did you install the Wilson SS from the beginning?
  9. Trojan 9mm 147gr FP Bayou Bullets 1.145-1.150 OAL. Longer lengths feed better in my Trojans.
  10. I bought my Elite Limited from you actually and this is what I did to it: Henning flat trigger and EGW hammer and sear. Nice 2# trigger with light Xtreme springs you already had in it. Ive since changed it out to the Xtreme DA/SA set up I had in my Stock 2. Just feels better to me after shooting. S2 for a couple years in production. Henning magwell is prettier than the stock magwell but really no difference in speed of mag changes. I put Henning's on the Elite and the stock magwell on the S2 for a back up gun. You already had Henning guide rod and 10.75# recoil spring. Had a little trouble with feeding but after tuning the extractor by radiusing the hook on the bottom of it feeding improved 100% Also keep mag lips of K40 mags at .390-.395. You're gun is sweet accurate and a lot of fun. Good luck on the next one
  11. Here's my experience with the Elite Limited .40 for what it's worth. I use K40 mags with Henning basepads and Grams springs and followers. I load 180gr at 1.135 OAL. Initially I had a few feeding issues especially with load and make ready. After extensive research on this forum there were 2 things I did to eliminate the issue. First, tune the extractor by radiusing the bottom hook very slightly to allow the the rim of the cartridge to easily come up into the extractor before feeding into the chamber. Second is to keep the feed lips of the mags tuned to between .390 and .395". Most of this information is from forum member CHA-LEE's various posts on these issues. He is the Tanfo Guru and I take no responsibility for figuring these things out on my own. I can just attest that they WORK. Good luck
  12. So I have an Elite Limited set up with Henning flat trigger EGW hammer and sear polished and everything working. Trigger pull right at 1.75-2#. Trigger has a crisp break. The Stock 2 is set up with Extreme everything polished and everything working. DA is 6# and SA is 2.25#. The SA is very smooth but does not have that "crisp" break like the Elite does but I'm able to shoot it more accurately at the tight shots because I guess that little bit of creep before it breaks is the same feel as the pretravel. I shot a S2 in production for a couple of years before getting the Elite for Limited. The S2 is now a backup gun. Both guns are 40SW. My question: is what I'm describing in the "feel" of the two triggers what others observe as well? Don't get me wrong, the Elite handles much better with major power factor than the S2 but why am I able to drill that close shot better with the S2? Close meaning tight 15-18yd no shoot type shot. Observations and comments welcome. Thanks
  13. The 9mm and 40S&W extractors are the same. And I think you want the "extended mag release" which is found on most Elite guns. I wondered that but my extractor says "9" on it and I see some distributors such as Graufel's site and the one in Canada specify caliber when ordering the extractor. I also think the extractor on my S2 40 says 40 on it. "I think." Just wanting an extra.
  14. Looking for a 40SW extractor and a mag release for a S2 or Elite Limited 40. Used extractor is ok but need one that has not been "fitted" or filed on. Thanks. Also I have an unused 9mm extractor if that will help with a trade.
  15. . That's pretty good. CDP was designed for the 1911. However I agree with staying with a familiar platform like the M&P if that's what is available to you.
  16. This is going to be an IDPA SSP gun. I already shoot a Stock 2 in Production and an Tangfo Elite Limited in Limited. This is the best similar gun I could find to use in IDPA. No Tangfos meet the reqirement except the Limited Pro but I see questions all the time about the size of it and it not fitting or maybe fitting or having to "sqeeze" it into the box. The CZ Custom 75 Shadow Custom has had slide machining to make the sights fit: that means that it is not allowed in IDPA SSP.Buy the stock 75 Shadow and do the internal mods yourself, or buy it from CZ Custom and tell them to do all the internal mods and leave the exterior of the pistol alone. Either way, you will be IDPA SSP compliant. From what I understand it's just a competition fixed rear sight that is specific for the Shadow slide cut. I don't believe the slide has been machined on the Shadow Custom. Also I'm going on this thread as well.http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=202969 I would just make sure by asking CZ Custom. If they say they haven't machined the slide to fit those sights, you are good to go.I just called CZ Custom. We're good to go. SSP LEGAL. No machining of the slide.

  19. Is the Short Reset Trigger System that much of an improvement? Also from the pictures it looks like the rear sights on the Custom Shadow and the stock Shadow are the same. No? Also, what is the difference in the hammers?
  20. Is the CZ75 SHADOW CUSTOM Item# 91715 ($1300) worth the extra $500 over the CZ75 Shadow Item# 91705 ($800) or can the the latter be made just as nice with springs and a short reset disconnector? Oak Hill Guns advertises them for $1299 and $794.43 respectively. Thanks in advance.
