  1. Although I am not familiar with this slide my son and I have been running major 9 for a year now. It is not as simple as some may make it sound. If the SPS slide is like a STI slide you may have trouble. We had a lot of trouble with STI slides and 9mm, swithced to SV on my sons gun and it was a 100% gun , mine is currently getting a Caspian slide due to trouble with the STI slide.
  2. The week long format was pretty good, however at times I felt like we could have easily shot the match with the half day format in four days instead of five. My one complaint is how Sat was handled, by having the awards on Sat. instead of Fri. evening it pushed the prize table out until late Sat evening and forced an additional nights stay in Quincy. I enjoy my time there however having arrived the Sat. evening before the prospect of spending another night in a motel there was not very high on my list.
  3. Does anyone have any experience with any of the import mills that are slightly larger, the table top models in the 1 1/2 hp range and sell for about $1,000.
  4. Scott, My son and I both shoot major 9 and I find that when I purchase once fired brass I load it twice, on the second loading some primers go in to easy for me to load it a third time. It probably would be fine but I do not care to find out at about $10 a thousand.
  5. About 2000 round and it shot the recoil spring out the front of the reverse plug. I have another one in my other open gun and that one has about 10000 rounds and still going strong.
  6. I have been using a mix for practice and every brand runs fine with the exception of some military. Only issue with Speer is some want to hang up the spent primers and not fully decap.
  7. I think I found it. Checked for interference by the recoil plug and found it was hitting the comp just slightly. Thanks for the help.
  8. No this is happening on an empty chamber when I lower it by hand so the extractor should not be the problem.
  9. On my open gun, STI frame, slide, Nowlin barrel, major 9, with a hard chrome finish, the slide has developed a problem going all the way forward. When I lower the slide slowly by hand on an empty chamber it stops 7/32 short of going into battery(which appears to be about the distance a slide goes reward to unlock), a slight pressure or bringing it forward with only slightly more speed and it snaps into battery. When running the gun with a recoil master installed I was having the same problem fairly frequently, by switching to a std rod and 11# ISMI spring it runs better but still stoped a couple of time today. Any ideas?? I have checked for burrs and find none. the locking lugs are square and appears that the gun locks up tight, it is a fairly new gun with about 3 to 4,000 rounds through it.
  10. Thanks, I have checked the post and will try the suggestion for the extractor.
  11. On two built on STI slides I have had ejection trouble. The case rides up the breech face to far and the ejector goes under the case rim, this does not happen on every round. The ejectors are long EGW and the extractor is an Aftec. Ejectors have the point raised as far as it can go. Anyone have a similiar problem? Any suggested fixes??????????????????
  12. Slightly different question. Does anyone know when the stages will be posted on the web for the match?
  13. Forget it. A single stack racegun is about as dead as dead can get. Check the want adds on the uspsa page, talk to local shooters, but stay away from single stack race guns. Going into a stage with 10 in the gun against someone with 24-29 just is to hard to overcome.
  14. When you were working with the hs7 were there any signs of pressure? Was the load compressed or was there space left in the case? Thanks
  15. I am looking for loading info for a 40 cal using the 135 grain Berry's bullets. Looking to develop a minor load for my XD to shoot production.
  16. Nick, You are doing it right, when my son was about 6 I read a sign at a shop that said "Take your son huntin and you won't have to go huntin for your son" I not only continued that I got into USPSA shooting with him, many years later we are still hunting and shooting together and so far I have never once had to go huntin for my son. Good luck to you and your son.
  17. I have been trying to get $400 back from a gun powder order that I placed last spring. Several promises and nothing delivered, I can no longer get my e-mail or phone calls answered. I understand that Lecks has been good to the sport and that Cheryl has had personal trouble however keeping customers money is not something that is excusable under any circumstances.
