  1. Its my "poor mans" precision setup. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r136/logan_sell/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20141118_183220_zps28d6aaa8.jpg CZ 550 Varmint 308. 25.6" bull bbl. Sitting CZ 750 "sniper" stock. 10rd CZ mags. Bushnell 6500 6-24x50 G2DMR in CZ steel rings. Harris BRM bipod. I haven't had a chance to shoot it out past 300 yet. I did get 1/4 moa at 300 with my 168gr loads. I have loaded a bunch of 155 testers. It did not print 175's well at all.
  2. 3.2 TG under a Xtreme 147 at 1.1" gives me a solid 129 PF in my G34. (2100 RDS per # of powder is hard to beat) A buddy has to load 3.4gr TG in his Springfield Loaded to get the same velocity.
  3. Cases would no longer drop into the shellplate, and the casefeed slide was out of adjustment. I pulled the slide off and the helicoil came out on the screw... As I was doing this, I realized that the contact point on the casefeed arm had rounded and lost enough material to tye point that it wouldn't move far enough to drop the case. While I'm waiting on the replacements, I'm thinking about stacking a TIG weld to add material then grind and polish it down. Unfortunately, I don't have any helicoils to replace the damaged one. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r136/logan_sell/IMG_20141219_184638_zpspcwvxvqi.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r136/logan_sell/IMG_20141219_184715_zpsk7rf3lwr.jpg
  4. My Super 1050 is the bane of my existence. I've honestly had so many problems with it that I just quit calling and quit using it, because the tech support advice was very poor. I've honestly forgotten some of the problems because its been so long since I ran it...but here's what I remember. The primer feed system would stick and jam incessantly. I stoned and polished the Sharp edges, which helped a little, didn't cure the problems. I had repetitive issues with the powder drop. And was told to put an aquarium air pump on it to vibrate the powder. (I laughed maniacally as I hung up. There were timing issues in the beginning. I adjusted and reset until I turned blue in the face. Removing the safety ratchet cured most of this issue. The stud that cams the primer arm broke off. Not even listed in the parts diagrams. I out a piece of 1/4x20 shoulder bolt in and locknutted it in place. I HATE my 1050. I am still a huge proponent of Dillon equipment though. My 650 is the greatest press in the world. Tonight I finally discovered two parts that need to be replaced. The helicoil in the casefeed slide came out during disassembly. And the casefeed arm has rounded off on the contact surface so it doesn't move enough to drop the case.
  5. you have a part number for the screw under the bullet bin?
  6. I loaded over 5000 rounds of .223 with 24.5grs of Varget without a hicup using this set-up. You probably have a RCBS or Hornady powder measure.https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/107754379149384581743/albums/5359435836017016961/5359435847628322626?pid=5359435847628322626&oid=107754379149384581743 Hope this helps. Uh...dillon powder measure. Why would anyone have anything else on a 1050
  7. You just need to set your devapping pin a little lower.
  8. I inspect each case before it goes into the bucket to be processed. Therefore I am confident it was not a crushed mouth that went in and broke it. Ive found that for some reason unbeknownst to me, a case will not completely seat in the shell plate and come out all retarded, going crooked into the decapper. Warranty is warranty, and I expect to get one by warranty, as well as purchasing a backup.
  9. I have always given a courtesy call before throwing a finger. Ive only met one SO who didn't, and he wasn't a very agreeable fellow anyhow.
  10. Rjacobs, this is what I expect happened to me as well. At least I'm only the 21st person in the Dillon customer service queue....
  11. Now my swaging support rod has snapped after 8000 rounds. Oh, the headaches.
  12. I had a magic bullet(sex toy) attached to the powder charge bar, it made a huge difference. I dont think its possible to slow down much more than the geriatric pace Ive been running at. I will have to check out those unique tek items you mentioned.
  13. Hodgdon 335, BLC2, and benchmark would be an obvious first choice to the 4198, but try to find 100 pounds of them... I was able to find that much in the 4198. One of the issues is the charge bar. The adjustment screw is so loose, I had to put a dab of blue loctite on it to keep it consistent. This has eliminated the variance in charges. I now get a +- 0.1gr, which I find acceptable for plinking ammo.
  14. Dryer sheet was the first thing to happen. But I will not wipe them with anything but a shop towel.
  15. I got this press new about 30 days ago. In 20+ hours, Ive only managed to run about 3k 5.56. The setup from the factory was abysmal. Ive had to re adjust each station, as well as re adjust shellplate tension. Ive had to disassemble and reinstall the primer feed. I had to remove the ratchet, as the tension screw that dillon told me to adjust did absolutely nothing to improve the situation. The rubber stop on the primer conveyance has already torn and come off. The powder measure refused to drop consistently. On that phone call, they suggested I attach a fish tank air pump to shake the powder out of the charge bar and down the funnel, or tap the charge bar every cycle. Now, I feel there is absolutely too much side to side movement. If I hold the handle to the left when cycling, it seems to tighten everything up. Between the suggestions of aquarium accessories, and it taking 3-6 days between response from customer service... I'm absolutely exhausted. My 650 on its worse day runs circles around this thing.
  16. Would be nice if this were addressed ANYWHERE in the manual. Would've saved me am hour of being pissed off and considering shooting the press this evening....
  17. Powder check die is irreplaceable in my mind. Also, 3.1gr TG won't make power factor. Just saying...
  18. A spare key and some baling wire will allow you to hide a key on the car. Bumper support or some other nook or cranny. Most keys are made of brass, so they won't rust away.
  19. My 10mm IDPA loads are 155gr fmj over 6.4 imr sr4756. Pretty much a mouse fart load. If you're willing to drop the coin on a 550, seriously consider the benefits a little more money gets you by going with a 650
  20. Im pretty sure it a 97 upper with a bushing sized for the 10mm barrel he fitted to it
  21. Friend of mine works at CZ here in KC. He texts me to say the head smith assembled a 10mm in the cz97 frame. Here's the video.
  22. I placed an order with Xtreme Bullets on Jan 7th, I was order # 3800 for 2013. It took 4 weeks to get my order. They stopped taking orders 4 days before mine shipped.
  23. You do not need to remove lube on a pistol case. You should ALWAYS remove the lube from your rifle cases.
  24. I run IMR SR 4756 for my light 155gr 10mm loads, I imagine it would be just as soft in .40
