  1. jrdoran forgot to mention,, all my shooting areas have roofs, benches and loading tables. Your out of the rain and most importantly, out of the sun. We've actually seen our numbers increase during the summer because of this. That and the fact that in the past 12 years, i may have canceled 8-10 matches total. Ive a great group of regulars, and im recruiting new shooters all the time, growing the sport. On the Volusia/FCSS thing, i run both clubs, pre covid we were averaging 60 guns on the 3 weekend matches, starting to get back to that number, we've had a couple 47, 48 gun matches recently, and yes, Hastings is my personal address

  3. I need some help, My club is doing a Toys for Tots benefit match and I would like to run some of the "Original" stages from Steel Challenge. If you have any stage diagrams of the old ones, Triple Threat, Zig Zag, Double Trouble, or just fun ones your club runs, could you send them to me?? Thanks for your help, Greg
  4. I'm actually looking at less powder and more bearing surface for accuracy,, longer bullet=more gas pressure for the comp
  5. the one on the left is the one in question, the other is a standard 115 gr. Just wondering where to find some. I think they would make my steel gun sing!!!
  6. found this bullet on the range,, it's .355 diameter, .650 long and is 110 grains. any ideas who makes them??
  7. Don't know where I got it from,, but its a 9mm bullet, .355 in diameter, .650 inches long, and 110 grains,,,, my 115's are only ..564 long and this thing has twice the bearing surface of a 115. Any Ideas what it is??
  8. I will work on getting signs up before the match to let shooters know where to turn into the range,,,
  9. The Nationals is now held at Volusia County Gun Club in New Smyrna, about 45 minutes north of where is was held. You do NOT need to be a member of USPSA to shoot it. Hope this helps, Greg, Steel Challenge Match Director, VCGC
  10. I don't remember WHERE I read it, but it clearly stated that ALL targets are to face the competitor to reduce chance of ricochet, this was from the original WSSF rules before it became "Steel Challenge". If the targets are parallel with the backstop, you will run into ricochets hitting spectators,, The only stages that are set up parallel to backstop is Outer Limits, and Showdown because of the multiple shooting boxes, This is the way it was done at the World Shoot!! Hope this helps.
  11. What kind of accuracy are you getting??? Say at 30 to 40 yards??
  12. I'm tossing around the notion if getting a .22 conversion for my match Witness (small frame) and using it in the steel challenge as well as for practice. Does anyone have any input on how well they work, accuracy, etc.
  13. Hey Joe, glad your doing good after surgery, I'm facing surgery on my shoulder for the same thing, about how long after surgery until your shooting is back to 100%, I'm curious because I'm facing, do I do it before the Steel Challenge or after, thanks Greg!
  14. AA#5 works great with 115-147 jacketed and 125 lead as well, I've got over 80,000 rounds of major thru the gun and no problems, never missed power factor at any temp, look up glk21c, I turned him onto the powder and he's done quite a bit of chrono work, I just feel I don't have the right to list his work here,,but his results are spot on with what I've known for 18 plus years, good luck.
  15. I'm looking for a couple WCPI scope mounts, one for a 1911, and one for a p-9/witness, any ideas where to find any???? Thanks folks...
  16. do you want to sell one or two, what styles are they, 1911 or p-9?? I'm interested in both, thanks,,,,,,,,greg
  17. I've shot literaly thousands of rounds thru a comp, I've got a gun just for steel and all I shoot is lead, before each time you shoot, put a drop of oil in each port, you should have little to no build up, when you do notice some, reoil and run some jacketed bullets thru to clean out the comp.
  18. Can anyone help me?? I have a client who just bought a S&W 738 j frame and she wants "larger" grips for it,,,Who makes any???? Thanks
  19. Hey, just roming the web sight, and came across your post. George did alot of work on my ea9 ( I used to shoot for them) do you still have any of this Major springs and if so would you consider selling me ONE of them ( yes I am Begging) Thanks for your time, Greg Kerce
  20. Sorry for the typo Mr. Gray,,,also, Adrenalin,,,,is that whats going thru your head when Rob Leatham is standing behind you during a man on man,,,betting against you?????? No, that's just Rob being Rob. Doug ran the 1 pounder, I agree, too light!!

  22. If anyone can tell me where he's working these days I'd lovew to have him do it. I've been out of the loop for 15 or 16 years, most people I used to deal with are gone...and yes Bruce IS the man,,
  23. Have you tried AA#5, have great results in 5 1/2 Tangflolio with 115's and heavier, Brian Enos himself gave me the load many moons ago, start a few tenths higher than the max load and go from there, DO NOT QOUTE ME, I believe I was running 8.4 grns to get a 177 pf with 115jhp. Hope this helps.
  24. thanks for the input guys, but here is what I need, George Huening and Bruce Grey taught me everthing they knew on working on these guns, I just don't have a place to do the work. Nothing against henning but I've never seen his work. To better understand what I'm looking for,I shot with Doug Koenig and Brian for EAA/TANGFOLIO '92-'93. My triggers registered 1 1/4 pound on a trigger scale, I know it can be done, I believe Doug used to run 1 pound clean.I need a EAA MASTER, thanks again,,,,,greg
