  1. Just in case anybody ever loses one of these metal straps that hold the DAA Race Master holster to the belt, the part number as it appears on my electronic invoice is: RMHOLSTER - THIN SPACER/set(2) and they are 4.95/pack and include the screws. The same straps are used to hold the DAA mag pouches to the belt. Here's a picture showing a belt-hanger with the metal straps attached to the back:
  2. Thanks Xhris. I called CED and have a couple of spares on the way.
  3. I seem to have lost one of the metal bars that hold my DAA Racemaster holster to the belt along with the associated screws. Does anyone know if I can get a replacement from DAA?
  4. My son shoots a Caspian 9mm in Limited (minor). The grip on that gun is absolutely awesome.
  5. Thanks Joe. How'd you know I was gonna ask about an N320 recipe.
  6. Take a break as required and don't just dive back in. Healing is a gradual process, so the demand you place on your body should be reintroduced gradually as well. Some may recall that last July I amputated the tip of my strong hand index finger right at the base of the nail. I didn't pull a trigger for several months while the wound was closing up. I was shooting again by late October and moved up in class the first few matches of this year. Sometimes just letting it heal is the best thing. My shooting is important to me, but I need my hand for much more than that, so I figured I'd put my hand first. I missed out on both the A8 championship and Nationals last year because of my injury. It is what it is.
  7. 3.8 or 3.9 under 124gr RN with a 1.17 COAL for a Caspian runs flawlessly. That COAL is a little long for most guns though.
  8. I'm using a I would like know your 124gr 9mm titegroup recipe for fmj. 3.8-3.9 grains of TG under a 124gr plated RN loaded to a 1.18 COAL have worked incredibly well through my son's Caspian. The Caspian likes 'em loaded pretty long for proper feeding.
  9. I'll let ya know how this turns out for sure. I loaded up the 50 or so 180 grain Ibejiheads bullets I got from my buddy with 4.5 grains of Titegroup, so we'll see how they do and go from there.
  10. Yeah, this is a 10+ year old gun, so it's possible that it's just worn out. The guy I bought it from was the second owner and couldn't give me an accurate round count.
  11. I have solid recipes to shoot 124gr 9mm minor and 165gr .40 major using Titegroup..been shooting those for a few years now. I got some extreme bullets in 147gr 9mm and 180gr .40 and was hoping folks could share their Titegroup recipes with me just to give me a baseline to make minor in 9mm and major in .40.
  12. I would think that's the worst case scenario that I end up replacing this barrel, but I'm hopeful that an ammo change will do the trick.
  13. I'll have to figure out what to do with a couple thousand rounds of ammo. Those thousands of rounds of ammo make GREAT practice. Also, a lesson NOT to load thousands of rounds before testing to make sure they fully function and are accurate. Yeah, unfortunately, I loaded these thousands of rounds for my XDm before I stumbled upon this STI. They shoot well in my carry gun though, so if nothing else, I'll have range ammo for that.
  14. Yep, that's my game plan. I just got a handful of blue bullets from a buddy as well, so I'll try those out anyway since I have 'em lyin' around.
  15. For you guys that have experienced issues with plated bullets, what did you switch to? These are HSM plated bullets that shoot great out of my XDm.
  16. I'll do that. I hope this proves to be an ammo problem and not a gun problem. Of course, I'll have to figure out what to do with a couple thousand rounds of ammo if it is.
  17. These are plated RNHP's. They shoot like a dream in my XDm, but I know every gun is different.
  18. Didn't anyone notice the obvious here. That load you're shooting doesn't even come close to major PF. You need about 4.8gn-5gn titegroup with that oal to make pf. http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/pistol You may not even be making minor pf. Get the load up too specs first before you start looking at other reasons. The load may be too light to shoot accurately. That was where I was heading with post #3 I didn't want to call him a cheater until I had the facts right LOL...Not a cheater. My ammo chronos around a 171 PF.

I was just home from a weekend of offroading and shooting a was exhausted. I am using 5.0 grains of Titegroup. 3.8 is what I load in my son's 9mm.
  20. There is rifling in the barrel, and it locks up nice and tight. Slide to frame fit is good too. It's a .40 cal and my I'm shooting major PF.
  21. This exact thing happened on my stage at the VA/MD sectional. Shooter had a case separate and a piece of it hit him in the nose and he was bleeding pretty good. The barrel of the case was still in the chamber. I had him ULSC, and since by no definition of the word is the remaining piece of brass still ammunition, I called him clear and sent him to the safe area to fix his gun after someone looked at his nose. The rules don't really cover this specific condition, but I can't think of a way in which it presents a safety hazard, so I felt fine about letting him off the range.
  22. I got this STI a few months ago. I changed out the insert on my DAA holster and started shooting it at local matches immediately. My performance took a nose dive and I figured it was just that I needed time to get to know the gun. I've continued to struggle with steel and am getting way more deltas than I was with my XDm. I FINALLY got the gun out to a static range today to sit down at a bench and do slow fire at some USPSA targets. The results were extremely disappointing. Nothing about those targets resembled a group by any stretch of the imagination. I took the gun over to the plate rack and shot just slow fire at the plates and was missing left and right. I picked up my son's Caspian...no problem. I took out my XD 40 carry gun, no problem. So I'm pretty sure that the performance issue here isn't me, it's this gun. So now the work begins. I don't have a history on this gun. Is it possible to shoot out a barrel in a handgun? Is it my ammo, and if so, is it a bullet type, COAL, bullet shape issue? Has anyone experienced this before that might shorten my time-to-resolution with a little valuable insight? This is super frustrating because I really like this gun, but it's useless to me right now. The recoil and mainsprings have been replaced. I'm using 165 grain RNHP's on 3.8-3.9 grains of Titegroup. My COAL is a 1.18, though I've shot 1.13 stuff and had similar issues (at least at matches).
  23. The person that owned this gun before me took too much meat off the dovetail on the rear sight, so it's loose in the groove and I'd like to replace it. It looks like there are two or three different cuts out there for rear sight grooves and I'd like to make sure I buy the appropriate sight on the first try. Does anyone know what cut an STI slide gets from the factory?
  24. I was the CRO on stage 2 at the VA/MD sectional and I am probably the RO in question. First let me say that I don't believe in "warnings" at a major. "Warning" implies "if I see you do it again, I will DQ you." At a major match where we are assigned to a specific stage for the duration of the match, I'm not going to see you again, so issuing a warning would be fruitless and more importantly there is no provision in the USPSA rulebook that defines or allows such a thing. Now, at a level-1 match where I'm ROing the squad I'm shooting with, I might give a warning, but it would be a "finger!" call during the run with a clarification afterward that that's your one warning. I'm positive I didn't say anything *during* your run. I'm pretty sure most RO's have done that at a local match at some point. That said, I'm glad you felt I was being polite. Stage 2 was a VERY difficult stage to watch fingers on. The majority of the targets were on the left side of a free-fire zone that ran the depth of the bay and was no wider than my size 12 shoe toe-to-heel, literally. Moving behind a right-handed shooter who is indexed to the left side of the bay with occasional swings to the right side, all while moving forward made finger visibility quite difficult without risking putting myself in the path of your muzzle on the right side target engagements. If I mentioned your finger after your run, it's probably because it caught my attention, but wasn't blatant enough for me to stop you and tell the Range Master that I was beyond doubt about the violation. So why mention it to you at all? Because getting the finger OBVIOUSLY outside of the trigger is something MANY people need to work on. If I can point out "close" without ruining your match by sending you home, then maybe you think about it on the next stage where the RO *can* see your finger in the trigger guard and stops you. I'm a believer that we're all here to have a good time, and to do that safety is paramount. As the RO, I made a call that what you did didn't constitute a DQ infraction, but if I can take 5 seconds of your time at the end of the stage to heighten your personal awareness, then everybody wins. I'm WIDE open to input from guys that have been doing this way longer than me. If I need to "check myself", I'm open to that, too. If the majority here says, "black or white, you should have DQ'd him or said nothing at all", I'll heed that advice. I'm a new-ish RO/CRO and I'm not above learning. Kelly
