You can say that again. In one video I saw I *think* I saw the actual aiming stick - a stick painted yellow at the top. Assuming that was the proper aiming point they were not using it at all. I will add that to my list of stuff to discuss with Troy when we have our rules talk. Yep in the videos I saw, you can clearly see the aiming point, but they only lowered the gun from 90 degrees to maybe 85 degrees.

Had a great time at the match and the rain held off till the last stage. The match staff are a great group of folks, thanks for all your efforts.

Jim Norman, I setup two APs, one at either end of the range, as we use 2 bays on one end of our property and 4 at the exact opposite end. This covers the bays, so regardless where I am, I can sync all the Nooks back to my iPhone and/or Nexus 7. We are lucky to have power, but for our big USPSA match once a year, with 10 stages and 250+ competitors, over three days, I add two more APs and power those two APs using batteries. The batteries last all day and could probably last a few days without recharging, but I recharge them every night.

You do realize that you are risking a squad's entire match in having the Nook travel? If anything, anything at all happens to that Nook thta somehow renders the data irrecoverable, that squad has no match. If you have each stage keep the Nook on the stage, and the same catastrophe occurs, only that stage is lost and it is lost to all. What part of, I sync all the the Nooks back to a secondary Master device every few minutes did you not understand.

I don't see it as being necessary.

Zach the Fire tablet has been working well. My concerns are the standard ones with devices like that, the device is slippery and if dropped may not fair as well as a Nook. So some type of case and screen protector will be needed, which adds to the cost. Although, because they use conductive touch and not IR like the Nooks, you can get a more water resistant case or seal it in a zip lock bag.

I'm using their new Fire tablet, the $50 one, not sure if it used the same OS, but venture to say it does. When I go to the Library, then App Updates it has shown the last Practiscore update for me to download

We are lucky at our club since each squad is given a Nook that stays with the squad. That way we only need to add late folks once on the squad Nook. For those of you saying, but what if the Nook breaks during the match, you'll lose one whole squad's scores. To you I say, range wide WiFi and I sync back scores every few minutes.

Thanks RaylanGivens, I figured it was something USPSA changed.

I've reported the issue using their bug tracking system. As a work around I update the classifications using Practiscore on an Android device.

I sent a email to support about this very issue, I think last month. It does not seem to find any of the USPSA # of competitors in the current match or history, hence no updates. I have a Terminal script that shows me a competitor's current classification.

That's true, but there are advantages to the Nook that have been discussed in other threads. Don't really want to rehash that here - just looking for info on making the new option work. Totally agree and the Glow Light being waterproof and dust proof is a big plus.

I can buy nearly 3 of the new Amazon Fire tablets for the price of one Glow Light and I don't need to worry about rooting it.

Thanks alma, that is who we would be ordering one from. I've not personally talked to him, but another guy in our group has and he's been impressed with them.

Several of us are looking to get an Irish Plate Rack (click on pic, lower right) and I wondered if any other clubs/individuals were using one and what they thought of it from a maintenance and competitors like/dislike of it. .

Excellent point, although rooting is simple, it still intimidates the heck out of non techies.

I got one the day they came out and used it at a USPSA match. Battery life seemed to be good, the screen was readable, but it was an overcast day. The issue I had and need to test again, is it seemed to have a weaker WiFi connection with our APs then a Nook at the same location. Also they I bet they don't take a drop as well as a Nook, so need to find a protective case that will fit. Amazon has one meant to protect the tablet for children. That might work, but added an addition $19 to the cost per device. Another advantage is the device boots up in about 20 seconds.

I had a Steel Challenge match last Saturday, with only the Steel Challenge divisions in the registration form. Had no problem with building the registration form, although I did not have to edit it after initially building it. I did however run it a problem when I downloaded the match via Pin #. It had everything correct, except in addition to the divisions I had defined, it included all the USPSA divisions, even though the match was strictly defined as a Steel Challenge match. Tried the Pin # download on an iOS and Android device, running the latest version of Practiscore and the addition of USPSA divisions issue, was present on both platforms. So Zack, I assume you've been running matches by now. How are things going? I'm looking at offering this type of match at my club. Still in the planning phase to see if there would be enough interest to get things started.
