  1. I was in the same boat as you last year. Got the trojan in .40sw and then the Spartan in .45. Both are are great for the money. I use the Trojan for Uspsa ss in minor, with option to go to limited 10. Use Tripp mags only, no prblms. The Spartan I use for Idpa. Im a glock guy but wanted a SS so said screw it and bought 2, happy with both.
  2. Was hoppes#9 for 2 decades, switched to frog lube 3 months ago and love it works great.
  3. I looked at both options too when I was deciding. Ended up with the TORJAN in .40sw with the crp package. Absolutely LOVE IT. 3 other guys at our club all ordered trojans with in a month of each other, this was back in DEC-Jan. Now 2 more want Trojans, cant beat price and product.. Hey tohm I ordered mine in Jan, got it end of March, you were just behind me on ordering on another post. Sorry you got to wait so long but it will be worth it. I also got a .45 Spartan in March. Go with the crp package its worth it

    17 or 19

I also have the a 34 and 19. The 19 is my carry gun, competition gun for both uspsa and idpa. The 34 is for my 15yr old for production. I only shot the 34 once in competition 2 weeks ago, I like the longer sight radius but I use my 19 in competition for my my training sessions espcially for idpa. I want to shoot what i'm carrying. If your thinking at all for competition and only can do one gun then the 17. Guns are like tattoos hard to stop at one.
  5. Tbeazlie after doing more research, found out the same thing ic not safe. Been using w-231, almost out then will switch to solo 1000 as just picked up 8lbs. Bayous are running good, shot first match with them sunday. My load in g34 gen 4 was 3.5grns of w-231, federal 100 sp primer, .135grn rn bayoubullet oal 1.155', with fps 970 pf 130.95 for 10shot avg.
  6. Finally my bayous came today. Ordered on Feb. 2, Donnie was great to deal with emailed on sundays and even added to my order a week before he shipped. Got to chrono now looking for loads for g34 with his .135 grn with w-231 powder and solo 1000 powder minor pf. Also looking for minor loads for my sti .40sw ss with bayous .180gr tc with w-231 and solo 1000 powder. If anyone has any loads thanks. Will post how it goes after chrono, happy i got them, like everyone else NEED PRIMERS, when will it end
  7. My g35 chronod wwb 165 at 1042fps pf of 171. That was back in 2010 and was 86degress out sunny, in central ny. You should be fine.
  8. Well I got my trojan friday. Shot it today boy it shots nice. 2 new guns in a week and half, credit card can't take much more. I have one prblm with the spartan .45. I have 12 all new chip mccormick mags and 4 of them wont drop out of the magwell. I filed the base pads for clearance, they seem to bind up with the extended mag release in it. If I take all those mags and put them in the .40 trojan they all drop free. When i install the stock idpa legal mag release back in the the spartan all mags drop free. Must be a prblm with the extended release. Dawsons suppose to call me back monday. Both guns are nice but the trojan is real nice. hopefully can get this mag prblm straighted out been working on it most of the weekend. New guns new prblms, have to get the bugs worked out.
  9. Well got to handle my spartan today it came in at my ffl. It's pretty tight not bad for the money sure will enjoy shooting it. Just have to get up to permit office and get on my permit sometime this week before I can take it home.
  10. still doing sunday airsoft training, and I'm really seeing big improvements. I did mess up one stage at the match last week forgot to lock my elbow and push gun out. The misses I had showed, after that 4 good stages, and won the steel challenge stage. Tomorrow will be using it to practice idpa as just joined that get ready for my first match.
  11. I've only shot a trojan, held a springfield ro, was nice for the money, but glad I ordered both sti's. Can't wait for them to get here. My vote sti but I might be biais now.
  12. Just got word today trjoan is in shop, just have to have the crp package done to it. Then they will ship it, proloy end of next week getting excited.
  13. Did it again, haven't got my trojan yet so today i ordered a spartan .45 CRP. Got the last one in stock they said, just have to have the crp package done to it and they will ship. they said maybe another week or so for the trojan. 2 new guns can't wait, just don't tell the WIFE.
  14. Well match is over guns cleaned and reporting back with good news. My kid had no malfunctions with the ge4 34 gun today. He was happy and said it was a great time not having to do malfunction drills. What we did different was change out the trigger bar that came with the gun the one with the bump on it to a gen 3 smooth trigger bar. Ran it with a 13lb recoil spring ss rod, 3 1/2lb disconnect, lighted striker and spring, titanium plunger and spring. Loads were .124 grn berrys rn bullets with 4.3 grns of w-231 power factor 135, fed primers. Everything ran great, when we got done even tried the 130pf loads and ran with no prblms. I really think most of the issue was the trigger bar with the bump on it. That is really the only change made from last week, I think it was slowing the slide down, dragging on it. Will try another match in a few weeks with the 130pf loads and if all is good then i know for sure its that trigger bar. Thanks guys for all input, hopefully the bugs are worked out and i got another relieable shooter. Mike
  15. I also bought tripp mags 10mm for my .40 trojan that I haven't got yet. Ordered the mags end of jan. got them in 3 days ordered gun from dawsons hopefully this week will get. Can't wait to try out the mags like jonb. bought these due to this forum and the knowledge of its members. Pricey but glad to here there worth it.
  16. I have another match this sunday. Going to bump the loads up to 138pf, might try a gen 3 trigger bar, and will use the 13 lb spring and see what happens. The guy i'm going with is going to let my kid shoot his g17 gen 3 to see if he has any problems with that, so we can narrow it done to either gun or shooter. Will take any more suggestions to try and solve this problem. Will report back after match.
  17. Fast target. My boy weighs 115 lbs, yes we were thinking he was limp wristing it. But like i said the other shooter i had shooting it cycled but the brass would just trickle out. On sat match in am ran a 13lb ismi spring with gen 3 guide rod, titanium plunger 3 1/2 lb disconnect, stock fire pin spring, and federal red box 115 grn rn walmart value pack ammo. Then in the pm went with my reloads of a pf of 130 with same setup for one stage and same problem so switched out recoil spring to stock dual spring then back to factory federal ammo with the same problem brass would trickle out and some times a stove pipe and fte. So I'm thinking upping my reloads to about 138pf, keeping the 13lb spring in, changing out trigger bar to a gen 3 or file that button off on the stock one because I think that was the prblm why the slide wouldn't fully go forward. My gen 3 has alot smoother trigger then the gen4, really questioning this bump in the trigger bar even hand cycling and dry fire theres a big difference. Both trigger pulls are close to weight 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 on the 34. i can live with that. I just want reilability like my 35 and 19 which are gen 3's with no issues. Hope this helps to clarify my problems. Mike
  18. Don't know never shot them, only shot rainers. I did just buy some berrys haven't loaded them up yet to see how they are i also have bayuos on order. Love the rainers but the shipping cost is killing me.
  19. Bringing up the old issue again. I have a gen 4 model 34 bought for my kid 15yr old for uspsa. We shot 2 matches so far with it and have nothing but problems with it. The cases are just dribbling out if it even cylces. Ran wwb thru it problems ran federal value packs all from walmart problems. These both chronod at a pf of 130-135 out of the gun. Tried the dual recoil spring, changed it out to a gen combo of a wolf 12lb still problems, also slide wouldn't go foward all the way so switched it to a ismi 13lb spring at least the slide went forward all the way but cases still dripple out and fte. My kid is getting frustrated at least he is getting good at clearing malfunction. Had a very experienced shooter shoot it, it cycled but rounds just cleared the slide. Will try my reloads at 138pf see if that helps, with ismi 13 flat spring on ss guide rod, my extractor is the newer one. Got the gun in nov. 2012 only has about 450 round thru it. My limited gen 3 model 35 runs flawless this 34 is driving me crazy. HELP any more suggestions . Thanks Mike
  20. gerritm ..... glad it worked out for you. I might try knocking mine down to 5.1, 5.0 and see what i get. Tryin for a 169 pf that way im safe from the chrono man. Again these results results are what I got out of my gun as always start low and work your way up.
  21. Just rechronod today it was 28 degrees out bright sunny with a lot of snow on ground. W231 powder with 5.2 grns and a 180grn rainer fp bullet gave me power factor of 172 avg for 10 shots out of my glock 35.
  22. Just bought some used bladetech pro series single stack mag pouches for $20.00 each. The guy I shoot with only used them twice. He is going with DAA ones, as they are a little father out for his rolls he says. I couldn't pass up the deal half off and they got they tech lok on them.
  23. Wanted to get to range again and recrono my load, haven't had time do to all the snow. Should of said of also stated that my powder is at least 15 yrs old. That may be why my grns. are a little higher. As always you should start out lower and work your way up. I wouldn't give anyone wrong information on purpose. I was just stating what I'm using now
  24. I hear you chuck d. Its just that the 30's fit my mag holders and easier to do reloads as bigger area to grab during competitions. Considering the magblock route and use hot glue instead of epoxy. Still the law isn't clear yet as of the towns meetings they had last week more clarification is suppose to be coming . Just will wait and see, trying to think of ways to do it , hopefully things will get overturned. Thanks again guys for some ideas
