Here is my 2 cents worth. First of all get the gun fitted to you. You wan't to be able to do the same thing every time or it won't matter where the gun shoots. I am primarily a Trap shooter and secondary Sporting Clays shooter. I like my sporting gun shooting 60/40. With that said I am not big on patterning shotguns, I do it once to make sure a new gun isn't defective and move on. After you have the gun fit so you get the same sight picture every time and adjusted to the percentage you want, go shoot it. You might want to start out on trap and skeet fields because they throw consistant target unlike sporting clays. Shoot, shoot, shoot your brain will figure out where to pull the trigger. If you try to make mental adjustments while the bird is in the air, you shot behind it. I will also throw in that if you feel like you are flinching it is because your brain is not seeing the correct picture. If the gun is fit properly and you keep the wood on the wood your sight picture should be the same every time, and the shot will go where your eyes go.
