  1. Britin- Hey bud, Merry Christmas to you and yours and a very Happy New Year. Bdog
  2. Count me in, I sent in my entry today. "Real" name to follow via PM. Crap, now I guess I gotta get me one o' them Benos T-shirts so I can fit in with the cult.
  3. Like I told Barry, I like my snow on the top of Mauna Kea while I swim and whale watch on the Kona coast. Below 65 is parka weather in these parts.
  4. I feel the same way about my jeep.
  5. Yeah, Barry, I'll be back. I guess I'm just a sucker for all the abuse.
  6. Figure this... my first big mainland match... fly halfway around the world and check into the hotel. OK, check the gun...no problem... check the mags... yep, all here...assemble the belt and holster...HOLY CRAP! I forgot my belt and holster! Quick call to the better half to ship via FEDEX, two day is best we can expect from Hawaii givent the discovery time. Panic run to several gunshops and finally end up at Sportsmans Warehouse, try and find a polymer rig at a semi-low price to make it through 5 stages of kick ass shooting. Find rig, return to hotel, assemble rig and practice drawing and reloading from "not quite right" setup. Next day on the range, first stage...ok, no problems. Second stage, straightforward run and gun (my kind of stage), engage first series of targets... grab mag to reload and pull double mag pouch off of belt (bottom screw loosened and fell out). Gun in one hand, attempt to thumb mag out of pouch to enable reload... needless to say, time sucked. Ah yesss, while walking through pasting a fellow squadmember's targets.. RO walks up and offers this helpful advice - "I may be a newcomer but I find that my reloads go faster when my stuff stays on my belt." Thanks, brah. Anyway, despite the challenges, I had a lot of fun at Rio Salado.
  7. Between weekend matches I sometimes get a chance to practice on an indoor range. I'd like some suggestions for a 100 to 150 round practice session for a "stand up straight and shoot at paper" type of session.
  8. Krytal burgers, no cheese, at least a dozen! Either that or Jack's Ultimate Cheeseburger <- a cardiac arrest on a bun
  9. Thanks a bunch to the folks who put on the recent NC Sectional. What more could you ask for but impecable organization, thought provoking stages and a super bunch of CRO's, RO's and Match Officials. Top that off with a squad that made this outsider feel at home and you have a great day of fun and challenging shooting. Absolutely the best morning I've spent in a long time, only wish I had shot a little better. Thanks again to all who made it happen. Eric Brundage Squad 37
  10. "Gimme hockey any old day...minor league at that....only 22 days until the home opener...Go Chiefs Go!" I may be a Buckeyes fan but give me the Dayton Gems vs the Fort Wayne Comets on Nickle Beer night at the old Hara Arena any time! Hard to tell if there were more fights in the stands or on the ice.
  11. Eh Brah, I hope you make it in. I can't go, but I hear that it will be good fun. Take it easy, shoot your game Hawaiian style and it will be all good. Much mahalo for the response. Chaka! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Eh, tanks Cuz. Bumbye we shoot togeddah. Good fun, yeah? Laterz.
  12. How are you guys dealing with the magazine restriction? A lot of L10, production, and revo shooting going on? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On local and State matches we score Open, Limited and Revolver. Some guys shoot Production for fun but are scored as Limited. During classifiers, the shooter chooses ahead of time whether the score goes in as Limited or Limited 10. The hard part, I hear, is when shooting matches on the mainland to get out of the habit of automatically planning to reload after 10 rounds. Hopefully I'll find out in November at Rio Salado, I'm #5 on the wait list and it will be my first mainland match. Like snorkling, shooting seems to be more enjoyable when I just relax and go with smooth movements rather than thrashing about. Seems to attract less sharks as well.
  13. Sorry, Lynn, green peas and cheesewiz aren't allowed anymore. Seems the fish got too fat and lazy living off of tourist food. Kevin C- Right you are! A little ways down the road from Haunama Bay is the Kokohead Shooting Range where on any given Sunday you can probably find one of the two local USPSA clubs, Mid Pacific Pistol League or Rhat Rhat Boyz, having a local match. At least one weekend a month the cowboys have the range for one of thier fun shoots. If you are lucky enough to be in the islands, come out and watch us shoot or heck, give a call ahead of time (you can find the clubs on the USPSA website) and you can shoot with us.
