  1. I was in your shoes and was talked into a Dillon Square Deal for a couple more bucks. Since I only load a couple handgun cartridges and have no desire to reload rifle cartridges, its perfect. I have a RCBS Rock Chucker that I use as for push through dies as well. Drink some Blue Kool-Aid!
  2. I know you can buy Starline Nickel cases from Midway. They are not in stock as much as the brass is, but you can find them.
  3. The Trojan seems to get great reviews. I will have to find someone to let me try one out. My cheap Springfield Mil Spec has run perfect with cheap ammo.
  4. I also buy my walnut from the local media blasting company. I run the brass through that for an hour or so and then on occasion run the brass through the tumbler with cob if I feel like getting fancy!
  5. I am having the same issues you are. I am waiting on my U Die and Gizmo to show up and will give that combo a shot. I am putting all my eggs in one basket and hoping that Cha-Lee’s method works or I will be jumping on the STI train… As of last week Henning was waiting on the U Dies. I just sent my check to John to get the Gizmo. I will report back when everything shows up and I get a chance to see how it works. I really hope this works...
  6. Anyone have experience with KG Gun Coatings or TiAIN from Canyon Creek?
  7. Indoor is about 10 minutes each way, outdoor is about 45 minutes each way. I think there are 3 ranges within an hour and a half that host local uspsa/idpa matches.
  8. Wonderful way to go Minor...and it won't feel any softer than 170-175 because there is so much overlap in ES. With a 230gr bullet, we're talking all of 20fps to go from 168PF to 175PF....going for the low number is pointless. Suggesting that idea to someone recoil sensitive, or possibly recoil sensitive, is even worse. If they decide to shoot a major match, they're going to bump the load up and that's the last thing they need. R, Im too nervous about the chrono to go much below 175!
  9. Good call. The only match I shot my 1911 at was at their match last month.
  10. So obviously Im doing something wrong! I will get the reloading dies for the .45 and start there along with trying to get some video of my grip and stance. Thanks. When I started the thread I thought for sure one of the first responses would be “does your husband shoot?”...
  11. You are in the right place to learn how to do it the right way. When I started looking into USPSA several years ago I realized very quickly that there was an incredible depth of knowledge when it comes to the sport and action shooting on this site. I will try reloading to see if that helps. Ive only shot cheap stuff (WWB, Federal Bulk Boxes, etc) through it so far...
  12. I dont know what it is... Its just not enjoyable to shoot! I have no doubt my grip could improve as this is all pretty new to me. I love shooting but realize I know very little about it. I want to buy a gun and ammo and shoot it! I want it to be that simple! At least this gun doesnt have feeding issues like my .40! Thanks for the comments and harassment!
  13. What am I doing wrong? I bought a Springfield Mil Spec 1911 in .45 and it is not fun to shoot! Shooting factory ammo, it is almost painful to shoot, my wrist gets sore. My Glock 34 and Witness Limited in .40 are so much softer shooting… I reload for both the .40 and 9mm. Would loading my own ammo help for the .45? Something I should correct with my grip? Beavertail Grip Safety? Or should I just HTFU?
  14. Ive got to be in Muncie the for a couple days the following week, so might as well plan to shoot while I am up there!
  15. I was on my own! I squaded with the guys that started on Stage 2 I believe. Hopefully over the coming year I can meet up with some guys from the Upstate that would be interested in sharing a ride to some of the matches. Its boring traveling on my own! I race bicycles and one of the best parts is the road trips with the boys!
  16. Another Clays user here. I have been happy with it so far. I have some Solo 1000 and TiteGroup that I plan on trying over the coming weeks as well.
  17. I had the opportunity to shoot with him this last weekend. Seems like a great guy who has done a lot for the sport.
  18. I am new to the area (Greenville, SC) and am looking forward to shooting some matches in the area as well. I joined the Spartanburg crew in December and this last weekend ventured down to Columbia for their USPSA match. Both great groups of guys and gals.
  19. I never shot any matches when I lived in Indiana but I am looking forward to hitting a few up this summer. It looks like you all have a huge state match!
  20. Cha-Lee and others, I appreciate the responses and your time. As soon as the U-die shows up I will start resizing. I will let you know what happens. Thanks again.
  21. I didnt think I would have to do that with NEW brass. I have followed your posts and have a cheap Lee single stage press ready and waiting for Henning to get the U Dies back in stock. I just find it hard to believe I have to go through that step as well... Seems crazy that to make a gun run correctly or even close you have to take perfectly good new brass and resize it. Am I alone in thinking that is not normal?
  22. The factory mag had issues right out of the box. I purchased 4 of Hennings ready-to-go 21 round Competition Mags along with a Grams spring and follower for my factory mag. They all seem to work about the same. I have yet to see one that works better or worse. I have not had any issues with the mags falling out. The bodies are clean and follower seems to move freely...
