  1. The small handheld cameras are everywhere. I wouldn't think you would have to pay a large crew to come video the top shooters. Most likely almost every second of their shooting is already being recorded. What would be pretty cool is if you could have a station where those videos could be downloaded at a central spot. I would think with SD cards that really wouldn't be all that difficult. You might have to come up with some small incentive for people to come download their stuff, but that would probably be a lot cheaper than hiring a film crew.
  2. So is your gun loaded when you dry fire?
  3. So what if a B class shooter beats all of the A's and M's. Does he get to win their prizes too? Or does it not count because he isn't competing against them? Not trying to be sarcastic, just wondering how you think that situation should be handled.
  4. Info for Rodgers' Class This link should answer a lot of the detailed questions about Bob's class.
  5. I have take Bob's class and have assisted Bob in teaching his last two classes. If you have the opportunity to get on his list and take a class, don't pass it up. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience. If you have any questions about the class please don't hesitate to ask.
  6. Keep an eye on Kale Garretson in production.
  7. Looking good Ken. Looks like you are in control of the gun here much more so than at TSL. Looks like a lot of improvement over not much time.
  8. I would say the next step is to control the gun so that you don't miss. What I mean is having the control to recognize and not squeeze the trigger when the sights aren't there. It can be hard to slow yourself down for an easy shot when it should be there quickly, but for whatever reason isn't.
  9. If you trust your gunsmith enough to build you a gun, shouldn't you trust him enough to make the best decision for the gun he is building? If a customer of mine second guessed me on an open forum, he would never be a customer of mine again.
  10. Hand cycling the gun in that manner really does not tell you anything about how the gun cycles in live fire.
  11. A looser grip will make this happen easier. In which case the gun is being pushed back harder, it would require more tension on the round in the magazine to keep it from popping out, before the slide strips it out.
  12. A tight extractor would cause a failure to feed, but it can't make the round jump in front of the extractor. This is a magazine issue. If your springs have not been replaced lately then that would be the first thing to do.
  13. Every gun I build has a live round ejection relief for exactly this reason. The picture shown is work done by Bob Rodgers of Rodgers Pistolsmithing. Notice that the ejection port has been advanced .050"
  14. If you're talking the best of the best. Then the smith will spend 120 - 150 hours building a full custom gun. What would you like to make for that amount of work. Not to mention you're one of the best at doing that kind of work. $3,500 - $4,500 doesn't sound too unfair does it. That is a months pay, minus the cost of the parts.
  15. This only further stresses the importance of finding your front sight and getting your points. One more A is always better.
  16. Faster transitions and slower splits. That and find a way to practice more. Like I told you before once your shooting ability catches up with your athletic ability we're all going to be in trouble. Of course I'm just a C shooter so take that for what it's worth.
  17. An in spec 1911 will run as well as any platform. I would absolutely not go shorter than a commander length barrel. If you start with a quality gun, Colt or the like, see if it will run. If it does not out of the box, then find a competent 1911 pistolsmith to take a look at it. A 1911 that is set up correctly will run with any quality ammo out of any quality magazine.
