  1. While I own and use DAA products and I am a huge supporter, I prefer my SLB/Manny Bragg holsters. All my belts have the magnetic holsters now
  2. I stopped a shooter last week. 15.6gn H110.... 357SIG It could have been NASTY.... That much powder... The kboom would have been epic.
  3. Titegroup convert from WSF MUCH CLEANER!!!!
  4. This is too bloody cool to not share.... http://jalopnik.com/honda-revives-the-sonic-spirit-of-ayrton-sennas-f1-car-911900331?utm_campaign=socialflow_jalopnik_facebook&utm_source=jalopnik_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
  5. Aperio... throw a warpspeed trigger kit in it (by a qualified gunsmith) and you are good to go
  6. do you mean 4.5? I hope so. I load 180s over 3.2 gr TG for a real nice minor load. If you are really loading 5.4gr TG I would hope you are checking your primers. thats a pretty hot load I am running 5.3gn Titegroup 180 berry's. primers are cci spp. Primers are fine IF they are fully seated. Makes 198pf and smooth shooting from my Aperio
  7. Got Juice, I really liked the 14recoil and heavy main as well (I think mine was 24 or 26). It made the gun feel really soft. I only started to second guess my setup when I started reading all of the "lighter is better" threads on this site. Only problem was that it gave me a really heavy trigger pull. With that setup. Do you notice a lot of muzzle flip? EDIT: When thinking muzzle flip, does lightening the recoil reduce muzzle flip, allowing for a heavy mainspring. Or does the mainspring play a roll as well with reducing muzzle flip? Sorry if this seems a little confusing. Short answer is no. I have less flip than when the gun was stock. The load that I am currently using is a 180gn Berry's/TITEGROUP that runs 1120fps over the chrono. Yes it's a hot loading, but with the MS/RS combo it is very tame. There is more of a linear rearward push than a lesser powered load, that is a given. But the flip is less. Comparatively speaking. I videoed gun for load development. The goal was to reduce flip. And the mainspring change made the biggest difference to stop the muzzle climb. Of course it's all subjective, and a few factors come into play, such as grip position, grip strength, and body position to name just a few. Recently I ran an ElPresidente to test out the theory. 6.9 seconds, dropped 1 shot out of the A zone which is a new personal best for me. One of my plans now is to try a 34/9 combo on the gun and see how it runs
  8. 0000 steel wool wrapped around a drill bit works too
  9. Love the 28ms/12 recoil setup in my Aperio. It really tames the gun down. Remember, the term 'recoil' spring is a misnomer. The majority of that spring's job is to chamber the next round. Only 15% of that spring's force affects recoil as the mainspring resistance is the greatest force used to cock the hammer for the next shot.
  10. Trigger work (extreme engineering warpspeed) and magwell is all i have done to mine. Couldn't be happier. Go for the Aperio.
  11. Good to hear you are back up and running! And with better assembly tolerances. You would think it was asking too much when paying 3k plus for a gun to have it perform properly and be fit correctly (sarcasm) But the main thing is that it functions well
  12. True enough. Although another 200 fps would be hard on the brass. Mind numbing, but PF is meaningless if you don't have the gun tuned for it.
  13. 197 PF is my current competition load in my Aperio. Soft as a kitten. 24lb Mainspring, 12lb variable recoil spring. With over 6500 rounds, gun still looks brand new.
  14. True. When shooting my M46 S&W or 2011 or Ruger MkII 10" at 10 below, I will "cut" the grease with 20% synthetic oil.
  15. I use synthetic wheelbearing grease on all my firearms... when they get hot, it's one of the few things that will prevent wear. Long after traditional oils have turned to varnish, grease hangs on and keeps at it's job. And powder fouling is not a concern given that grease is formulated to encapsulate contaminants.
  16. Nylon trimmer cord works great for this and it is cheap.
  17. The body is only a vessel for the soul, and the soul lives forever.
  18. I was actually wanting a CTS-V instead of the 'Vette... a little more stealthy and practical, but I could not find one when I wanted it.
  19. And the fuel use.... IF you can fight the temptation....... I was not on cruise yet, just slowly getting up to 65 mph..... I have tuned the car using a Wideband O2 sensor and EFI Live which allows me to run slightly more energy dense fuel (regular gas) at the cost of some horsepower (35hp). Still, If I want full power (400) I just fill with midgrade and change the tuning (about 3 minutes to flash the ECM) Then again... everything in moderation... including moderation....
  20. I know you were being facetious, but have you seen the roads/driveways that lead up to most ranges? You wouldn't have much of an undercarriage left in a Vette. So far, no issues, most ranges have semi decent roads. No, you can't drive on them quickly, but you get there I Do use mine for a range vehicle, however, the coolest I have seen at a range (to date) was an Aston Martin DB9 with 007 on the license plate!!! This pic was snapped on hwy 16 through the icefields......6600' ASL elevation.... on the back straight... my version of 'Vanishing Point' Pic was taken on the way to sectionals, and you can barely see, but there is not much room in the trunk (cargo netting hides the gear, but the rear window does have a smaller FOV) And yes, I am trying to lose a few pounds....5'7" and 250....... a bit on the heavy side.... but it does help recoil

  22. This is a 'Base' C6. Not a Z06 or ZR1. She still runs to 60 mph in 4 seconds and does a very tasty 12.0 sec 1/4 mile. At 75mph in top gear (6th) it quietly turns 1900 rpms, and sips fuel. My buddies WRX in some ways is a better car. More room, AWD etc. but he HAS to use premium fuel, whereas the vette can use midgrade. Also, at 75mph, I get 32mpg. The WRX gets 20.5. Less aero drag, less rpms, less driveline friction, and there you have it. I daily drive this in the summer, and make every day 'special' when I do.
  23. I have tot ell you that this latest incarnation of the Corvette is very appealing to me. If I were single, and made decent coin, there would be no reason for anything else. You only get one lifetime my friend. I bought this for my birthday (new to me) for 32k. I have always had a real fondness for Corvettes and what they represent. And 2 shooters went on a 12 hour road trip (one way) to shoot a sectional. 2 suitcases, 4 guns, 3500 rounds of loaded ammo, range gear, boots and shoes, 2 jackets each, and a roadside safery kit and a cooler. It all fit just fine with some practice. True we could not travel with the top off, but the AC will freeze the boobs of a penguin, stereo is first rate, and the fuel costs were less than a V6 accord that made the same trip. If you ever want one, one day you will all it takes is time.
  24. No sympathy for the RO. As the RO, you have to be 100% to call the DQ. 97 or 98 or 99% is not good enough. Also an RO should check with the shooter if he is unfamiliar with a piece of equipment BEFORE the COF starts. It doesn't sound righteous as a DQ as described. Yes I would be a bit upset about the DQ.
