I have not used those two products, but I did look at the before I chose this one. Duracoat is paint. It is not oven-cured so I can't imagine it'd be durable at all. Ceracote and other oven-cured products are, from what I understand, very similar to Moly Resin.
I can say this--once this stuff is cured, it's very difficult to remove, even with a sandblaster. I expect it to wear well.
Supposedly moly resin is more rust resistant than hard chrome. That's really what I'm hoping for--good corrosion properties.
I wouldn't call this product a substitute for hard chrome, but it is a lot less expensive and offers what appears to be similar protection from the elements. It doesn't look as nice as hard chrome and probably won't last as long, but it's one option among many.
Cerakote is by far the strongest coating on the market. I have used Moly resin, Dura Coat, KG and a couple others and nothing comes close to Cerakote. You got to use the Oven cure Cerakote. There air dry is desent, but not as good as the oven cure. Cerakote got independent testing done between KG, Dura Coat and Cerakote and Cerakote came on top. Cerakote is also easy to apply. Its so easy a monkey could do it. LOL
