  1. I was taught to start working up loads by finding the point where the bullet just contacts the rifling then backing off .01 to start for accuracy. The Zero 147 doesn't contact the threads until it gets to 1.224 and if I back off to 1.21, their jamming in the magazine which will not let them cycle. Is this common with some bullets. Will this cause problems with accuracy? Or, am I putting emphasis on the wrong thing?
  2. got my answer from Apex, evidently they all interchange but the RAM does not work with the safety model. Their working on that.
  3. I just bought a new M & P 9c and didn't realize it had a safety on it till I got it home. I'm wanting to make some changes to my 9 Pro (no safety) with Apex parts and wondered if my sear, springs and stuff would interchange between the two. While I'm at it, does anyone know if the standard DCAEK will fit in the models with the external safety?
  4. I can't help you on how fast the AA7 will push a lead load but I can tell you that it's going to smoke and be DIRTY! I've got a couple pounds and thought I'd be able to use it up on the 147s but I really didn't like it.
  5. Yep, the new Shadow T according to Angus' facebook page is now SSP legal in IDPA. USPSA said that it should be legal when the new list comes out April !. I'll be ordering my new T duo this week!
  6. I wasn't aware of the All Around model and haven't played with that one but did give an X5 comp a thorough test. But with actual selling price of almost $1500 for the all around, one can get you a lot of custom shop work on a new CZ with enough left over to buy a lot of bullets or reloading supplies. Or if their mechanically gifted, the parts to make it a great shooter and enough left over for a backup gun! ;-)
  7. Man, you guys comparing an X5 to a stock CZ? Isn't the X5 a custom shop gun? IMHO, You need to be comparing an X5 to a CTS or custom shadow. I know nothing about USPSA yet, but does the X5 fit into production class with their weight? I purchased a new Sig 229 and it had one of the worst triggers I have ever felt on a gun. I traded it in less than a month. I just couldn't get used to the combination of trigger and grip nor could I shoot it relatively accurately.
  8. Are the frames smaller on these than on the TS guns and if so, how much? Glad you guys like them so far!
  9. How about some reports on these new guns comparing them to the 75 SA and the Shadow FLDC?
  10. When the OP suggested that the mags didn't seem to be releasing as they should, it reminded me of a problem I had with a Sentry that I purchased new. It started after about 200 rounds and the mags wouldn't seat properly or release as they should. Come to think about it, the slide did not lock back periodically. I pulled the pistol apart completely and couldn't find the problem. I then took out the magazine release and it was rusty and full of crud that didn't allow the spring to compress. This pistol was less than a month old. I thoroughly cleaned this and did a little polishing and that was the end of that problem.
  11. Ijust got 2 extra mags and extensions from the Custom Shop. Both run flawlessly! I've ran about 450 rounds through mine now with only one fail to feed and it was from a bad crimp on a reload. I've ran 180 & 200 lead through it, Berry's 180 plated, and the MG 180 JHPs. I'm pleasantly surprised how well this gun shoots with cast lead bullets! VERY accruate!

    No Choke?

I've shot sporting competetively for years. I've seen so many Kreighoffs and Perazzis shoth without choke tubes in them, it's almost common practice for some guys. They'd come to a station with a close burner and out comes the tube or tubes if they were both close, nothing went back in till the next station and they saw what they would need. While I don't condone this and don't practice it, there is a very good probability that it will never mess up your threads. Would I do it on a full course, no and neither would anyone else I've shot with, but thing happen and I've never seen threads messed up from doing it.
  13. I have always had a thing for thumbhole stocks. So much that I had a Weinig custom made for me. When I first got it back, I fell in love with it. After I shot it, I almost threw it in the ditch! IMHO, thumbhole stocks are not made for a swinging action. That style is just too easy to have too firm of a grip with. Unless extreme care is taken, it allows the gun to cant which takes to front bead out of position from the bore and either increases or decreases lead. It also takes your hand and puts it too far below the axis of the barrel bore and makes the swing more difficult. With it, my average was down almost 15% in sporting. I went back to my standard custom Weinig and the scores went right back up. Sold the stock (took a terrible beating from what it originally cost) within 6 months to someone that wanted to use it on a slug gun. He loves it for that.
  14. Good point Walküre. I didn't even think about that. I'm new to pistol shooting and reloading so please forgive my newbie ignorance.
  15. Yea, I've found very little on the 200g bullets. As a matter of fact, the only one I found was with AA7 which I tried. Very smokey.
  16. Ran about 500 rounds through mine yesterday. Not a single issue with any load I ran through it. Very accurate! Now, I just have to get used to shooting a pistol of that size! Belt and mag holders should be here today or tomorrow and first match will be next weekend. Looking very forward to playing with this thing!
  17. In my P 06 and my CTS, it's not the fact that the barrel chamber is short, it's the ejection port of the slide. both of mine like 180 MG JHP's at about 1.127
  18. Interested in trying out cast bullets but can find very little published load info. I have an order in shipping for 180 and 200 grain cast bullets from Missouri Bullet http://www.missouribullet.com/index.php and want to shoot USPSA limited major out of my CZ TS. I've spent a couple hours searching the loading forum and find very little there either. Most of what I find is longer loaded ammo but need the shorter for the CZ. I'm relatively new to reloading and don't yet have a chrono so developing my own load is going to be a pain. Can anyone point me toward a good load or to a publication I can purchase for these? I have the Lymans 49th Edition, Alliance, and Hodgden books. Currently, I have AA 7, Titegroup, and VV N320 powders but would be willing to purchase whatever I need to get rolling.
  19. Here are the ones I have on order and the ones my shooting buddies recommend. http://www.missouribullet.com/details.php?prodId=141&category=5&secondary=11&keywords=
  20. Thanks guys, I'm picking the gun up this morning and heading to the range after lunch. I'll try out it to make sure I like it, then make the necessary orders. Was goint to do it earlier but decided to wait till it gets here
  21. I hope I'm putting this in the right forum. Please help out a newbie so I don't have to purchase these things multiple times to get it right. I shot IDPA last year and although I like that, I've always wanted to shoot in the IPSC matches. The first competetive match I attended as a spectator was USPSA, but that was last spring. My IDPA gear is for an M & P and a 1911. I have a like new CZ CTS coming my way ot shoot Limited and have to totally set up for USPSA. I know I'll need at least a couple more magazines, dedicated belt, holster, and magazine pouches. So far, I'm thinking a double alpha belt and was thinking about their pouches. How many magazines and pouches and are the Double Alpha ones? The gun will come with 3 20 round tuned mags. I'm thinking 2 more. How many pouches and do I need one or more magnetic ones? I checked out Blade Tecs site and they don't appear to make a holster for a CZ that is similarly made? Since this is a custom gun, noone is going to make one specific for it, will one from another gun fit? I appreciate the advice guys!
  22. I've had the same thoughts Iggy42! Noone around me has the CZ's but I've got a P 06 that I really like and I just committed to a new CZ CTS 40. I'm hoping I like it as much as I think I will.
  23. So, I have read that these guns have a tendancy not to want to shoot hollow points. I'm considering one and have a stock of the 180 Berries and 180 MGs and would like a gun that would run them. Is there a fix if the hollow points are an issue?
  24. thats the grip I use. It played hell with my 1911 in IDPA because the slide wouldn't lock back. I suppose that in USPSA that would be good, but not in IDPA. I haven't shot a 2011 but am going to be buying another gun for limited USPSA and it is high on my list followed by the the CZ or EAA. I know if my hands were just a little bit bigger, the slide release lever wouldn't be an issue but I'm stuck with the size hands I have.
