  1. how well did your firle shoot with other 69 loads? If they shot better with another powder go back to that powder. What powder you use can make a difference in how your gun shoots. You can also try a hotter primer to spark things off better; somethimes that is whats required for ball powder but it should not make a difference. You also dont list velocity, ES or SD. If you ES and SD numbers are high then that indicates that your powder primer combo is not optimal. Since you did not indicate how well the gun shoots with other loads you should pull a bullet and look for shaving. In general crimping will not help accuracy.

  2. I attempted to re-stone my sear and trigger hooks on my 2011 and i messed something up and likley need a new sear. Existing sear extends above .020 shim in brownells jig. Issue is that upon pulling the trigger, the hammer will often fall to the half cock position. The safety is also hard to engage and disengage. I think that since i changed the angles, i now need to refit the safety. I am not sure if the half cock issue is associated with possibly cutting the sear too short, possibly needing to readjust the over travel or interference with the safety.

    Thanks

  3. not knowing any better i "started" with a 18" 870 for use in our clubs little TSA three gun matches. I fitted Wilson sights and an extension so it held 6+1 rds and no chokes (550.00). I found that i had to shoot #6 high brass to knock off our plates. I upgraded to a 1100 TAC 4 and installed wilson sights not knowing any better an a DWM lifter (900.00). This worked well for a time. Upgradedt to FN SLP. I liked and still like that gun. found out the hard way that you need a welded lifter and a +1. (1050.00) I later found a M2, 21" with some upgrades for 1400 and snapped it up. I later installed a tube to allow 10+1. It has most mods to include the mandatory lifter job and big release button. I thought i "had to have" a 21" or 24" barrel. if i was to do it all over again i would look for a used 26" M1/M2 and put a big tube on it and weld the lifter. I might go with a 28". I think you can find a well worn 26" or 28" for 700-800, add a tube and weld the lifter your into the gun for less than 1000 and it will be worth what you paid or more for a life time. Buy once, cry once. I would also not be unhappy with a SLP/sX2 with VR barrel. If you can't do that, id go with the well used 870 with chokes and a tube which i think you can find for 350.00 or so.

  4. Borrow someone’s youth shotgun, 20 or 12 does not matter. Length of pull matters quite a bit. You can get away with some very low power stuff with a pump. Significant for shooting a SG for anyone that’s little (me) is to get a gun that fits and lean into it. Many people will stand there limp like they do with a .22 and shoot and the recoil will beat them around.

  5. I have not had issues with 1 1/8 birdshot at 1145 ( on the Box) and dont recall that i have had issues with other "low recoil" buck or slugs at the 1150 fps mark or so. Fiocci low recoil buck was the only one that did not work for me and i think thats listed as lower velocity. Breneke tactical slugs are 1150-1200 or so and i have had no issse. I have a case of the federal low recoil flight control 8 pelets that ill try this sat-sun along with the fiocci LR 1 oz slugs that i plan on taking to sparta next weekend for my m2.

  6. so my stuff, 3.8-3.9 fits in standard mags. so its.... I was shooting 3.5 with the old lot and the new lot went to 3.8-9. Humidity is 34.4, specific gravity of 5, acidity of 4.7, negative 15 protons and all 89% brass. Elevation is 1245, MSL. Sunny with 15% waxing moon. My M&P was made on a monday so adjust for monday offset vs. thursday by 12%.

  7. for what its worth, running 147 fmj in factory STI 140mm magazines, they worked fine with and without spacers. It appears that after careful observation (reading the package) i was sent three 9mm mags with spacers and one .38 super mag without spacer. My 2011 ran all mags fine and all locked open with standard 9mm ammo. Not sure that spacers are "required" but i dont think that they can hurt.
