  1. Thanks guys, for all the help at the match today. It was awesome, as always is when inget to send lead down range. I just checked the scores, and I really blew an entire stage, which caused me to shoot 65% instead of 70%......roughly. I also noticed that my USPSA number is listed as "Pen". I have a number, and I'm classified "C". Who, and how to I contact to fix this? Again, I had great time today, and unlike other matches, there were only 20 people, and we were done by 1300. This will be a match I make it to as often as I can. Thanks again guys.
  2. Thanks guys. I am still planning on being there. I should arrive around 9:30. How long does it take to get there from the center of Wichita Falls? I gotta drop my wife off at her parents house then I'm headed that way. Lee, I'll find you and your son when in arrive. Just to make sure; I'm not really worried about actually walking down range literally. In the Army, "down range" is anywhere you are on the receiving end of something you don't want; like a range master DQing you because you broke one of the "range" rules, although it is not listed in the USPSA rule book, nor posted anywhere at the range. Oh and Brad_A; you still suck!! Are you ever going to shoot?
  3. Yea, I know the championship already happenned......... That's why I specified "April 24" and "monthly USPSA". Is there an address, or cross roads that I can plug into a GPS? I saw the map on the website, but I couldn't find an actual address. Who is the M.D. you are talkng about? Is he suppose to magically appear in my dreams to give me the release form, or is there contact information? I KNOW there will be people there; it's just nice to have someone that knows you are coming and can assist as soon as you arrive. When I went to the OKCGC match the first time, I asked this same question, and 10 people that offerred to help. Maybe it's just the guys at that club. I'll be there anyway since the inlaws live in WF.
  4. I'm planning on going to this match, and I've never been to the ranch, nor do I know anyone that is going. I was wondering if anyone here is attending, or if there was someone you know that is attending so that I can have a "contact" when I get there? I'm still pretty new and like to have someone keep me from walking "down range" on my first visit to any range. Also, if you are going, and travelling from North to South........I live in Elgin, OK along 44............I'm always interested in splitting gas costs. Thanks. Brad
  5. I have a cart that I've set up to hold a couple long guns, has cubby holes to put things, and my bag gets strapped on too. The only time I don't pull the cart out is at an indoor range, and then I just leave most of it in the truck since it's usually not that far of a walk to the parking lot.
  6. I've got to try one of these sometime.
  7. Oh yea, the Doc said I didn't need one after all!!!! So Double Tap this weekend is ON!!!!!
  8. One thing I've learned from some great shooters is to get into a routine, not only at a match, but in practice. When you go to "practice" at the range, do everything like you are at a match. Have a plan, have expectations, know your goals, have a "saying" you say before you shoot........I say, "grip, slack, thumb, sight, squeeze, slack, squeeze, attack the next target". When I say that, my mind and body snap into a certain posture. I've taught my brain to react to that string of words........almost like hypnosis. If you say that in practice all the time, you will say it in a match, and your mind will get into the same mode everytime. You are feeling different during a match because you are not practicing the way you will compete. In the military, they "train like they fight", which means they try to make everything as close to combat as they can. Granted, there are a lot of variables in combat that you can't reproduce, but it's the mentality of it that's important. When you go to the range to practice with your buddy and wife, you need to decide if it's just for fun, or is it "real" practice. It's ok to go to the range and just sling lead, but if you really want to improve and be able to focus the adrenaline, then you have to develop a thorough practice plan, stick to it, record results, and hold yourself to a standard. It won't stop the jitters, it will just let you accept them.
  9. After 6 matches, I received my first classification in Production Division...."C". I'm not entirely sure I'm suppose to be there, but I guess it will make me work that much harder to beat all the C's at the matches. It's a big step (for me any way) from U class to C class in less than 120 days. I'd like to thank Pat Doyle and all the instructors at USSA for making me realize what it takes to shoot at the "next level". I'm not there yet, but I'm gonna scratch and claw my way to the top. Hope to see some of you at some major matches soon.
  10. Well crap. I thought I was "on my way" to getting my 3-gun gear stuff together. That is respectable kit. I always want the best gear I can get, so, based on the 3-gunners I know, I'm trying to fund and find a Benelli M1 for SG. Nice stuff. Good Luck!
  11. Are you planning on doing any competition shooting?
  12. Well Brad, I'm not gonna get to go this Saturday. I think it's suppose to rain here for the next couple of days, so it's gonna be a crap shoot trying to get all the spring planting and landscaping done. I'm gonna see if double tap is having one next Saturday, and I may go to that one. It's in Wichita falls, so if I go, and you wanna come down to Elgin, and ride down with me, we can carpool and save us both some cheese. I'll let you know if they're planning on a match and if I'm going.
  13. You'll be fine. You're not stupid; I'm sure you understand that I will skull drag you off the range if that every happens again. Have a nice day! Oh yea, I may go to the USSA match this weekend. If I can tear myself away from "honey-do's", you wanna go? I was even thinking that our wives could go, and hang out while we shoot.
  14. Welcome to the club...........and ROLL TIDE!!!!
  15. Good Lord!!!! You've been DUPED!!!!! Start saving NOW!!!
  16. Have fun while you're here. Welcome to the information hub.
  17. I just can't help it.............ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!! BG
  18. I forgot to get this up here earlier this week. Here are the results from the Production Division at my last match. Not a stellar performance, but I'm pretty motivated about my progress; especially since my first match was in January 2010. It's going to take a lot of work and dedication, but I want to be in that top 5 by August. 19. OK, Sorry, Now I understand what the operating rod bracket is and that would answer my last question. I was surprised that this is what might be what they were talking about. I was trying to go in another direction. I will adjust it but am not sure which way to go...up or down. That is a very fine adjustment. Plus I will have to take each of these other possibilities and try them if that does not work. Perhaps I should make sure I have done these first so that I am not possible causing myself problems I did not have. I guess trial and error? Yea, I was refering to 13887. I found that a couple thousandths of an inch above the frame was too close, so I raised it to about 1/2 inch above frame, and rotated it from 360 degrees to about 345 degrees and it solved my problem. But again, this will only help if your operating rod is not bent at the correct angle, which will not push the slide all the way back. And again, if this is happenning, you should be able to give the slide a little tug and make a primer drop into the cup everytime. If you can't "make" it function properly by pulling on the slide, then the manipulation of 13887 will not fix your problem. Good luck. BG
  20. I haven't shot one yet, but I'm going to take a stab at it and say to bring at least 200 rounds. Like I told you at the OKCGC match, I've learned my lesson, I will never show up to a match with less than 300 rounds. You just never know what will happen, and you KNOW you will be using the left over rounds at the next match........better safe than have to borrow from Jesse!!!
  21. Is the priming slide coming all the way back? When if the ram is in the "up" position, and the slide comes back for a primer to drop into it, can you reach down and pull on the slide and make it move towards you a little? if that's the case, then I suggest three things; - Make sure the slide, and all the contact surfaces in that area are clean and there is no spent or live primers hindering the operation - Do the bendy thing Dillon suggested. Just run the ram up and down real slow until you see where the two rollers contact the angles on the operations rod, and determine which way to bend it. - What finally worked for me, is that I loosened the operating rod clamp that is secured to the priming tube, and I rotated it counter clockwise until the primers dropped every time. This is basically doing the same thing as bending the rod since you are changing the angle of an hypotenuse. If you really wanted to know the exact angles required for maximum efficiency, you'd need to take a few measurements, graph them, and solve the resulting linear equations using y=mx+b, figure slope, and on the right angles consult Pythagorean. Drawn out, you can get it perfect.........or you can just rotate the clamp a little until it works.......whichever is easier. BG
  22. Buy a few Khans to use during dry fire drills and range practice; that way, you won't be dropping or overusing your factory mags more than needed. I've got three that I use for those very reason. I've never had trouble out of any of them, but I can say that the Glock mags pull much smoother out of the CR speed mag pouches. So, again, using the Khans when I dry fire and practice reloads is like wearing ankle weights the week before a CC run. I was limited on my budget, so I went with 2 extra Factory Glock Mags (brought me to a total of 5) and 3 Kahns. You saw how battered mine were at the last match, and I've got some new base plates on order. In a month or so, I'm going to order 5 more factory mags because I know I will eventually need them. BG
  23. No seriously!!!! I'm sitting here "studying" for the GRE as I read the Enos forums. If there was only a way I could make the same amount of money shooting that I could with a job that requires an MBA. Just take it in small chunks. BG
  24. I know what you mean. Having someone close by to help you out in person, especially when it comes to loading new calibers, is invaluable. I'm sure you can find someone close by. Welcome. BG
