  1. I have been struggling with my reloads with the new platform. (2011) I am really having to reach for the mag button.

While doing some dry fire today I tried hitting the mag release with my left thumb. It works really well and is much faster for me.

I know it is outside the "norm" but can anybody point to any serious pitfalls?

Not sure how much time you actually lose. I know a guy who just shot at the world shoot who releases the mag with his weak hand. That is how he learned to shoot from when his hands where to small to hit the release with strong hand.

  2. I have not shot a 930 but I have shot a fn. What would be the comparison of a 930 tuned by a Gunsmith vs a FN with slight mods like opening port. I would think price wise those two would be close. If there is a thread on this already please point me to it.

    thanks

    Steve

  3. Why not? As far as I know it certainly is legal for Production. In the earlier production batch, the ejection port cut-out was filed to low, which made it illegal in Production; however, that has since been rectified. There are a couple of threads in this forum regarding that topic.

Just make sure you don't buy the Black Ice version. It is not legal for use in Production.

    +1

Got my replacement free of charge. And passes with no problem

  4. With the end cap on a nordic tube it takes about a minute to take off the cap and drop in a plug, instant 8 rd tube. I made mine out of a stock plug for a bennile, the big end sits on the end of the spring so it wont fall in and bind the spring, the 9th rd will go in about 1/2 way. I keep it with my choke tubes.---------Larry

    Do they sell those somewhere?

  5. Just a hunch. Dave will sign with Springfield. He's already won the SS Nationals and they've got the new 5.25 that they're gonna want to rival the 34/35. The XD was a great start, the XDM fell flat for competition purposes and now they have the new 5.25 that's specifically designed for competition. I'm guessing Springfield wants that gun in the hands of a proven produciton/limited shooter who will be up at the podium at major matches, especially Nationals. Who better than Dave Sevigny? (TGO is the man  but he's not winning Production or Limited National titles anytime soon.)

The 525 is a xdm with longer cut slide and barrel. Same exact frame and build
