  1. Various sources reporting today that Sons of Guns is... uh... in trouble.

Apparently the "shop owner" isn't really. He and his daughter lost their FFL after some guns went missing, three of the 'smiths got together and formed a new LLC, actually run the place (rather than just "employees".

Entertaining thread on arfcom. Have to say, the drama is more interesting than the show...

Do you have a link? That's pretty crazy news

  2. Interesting. I have to wonder why USPSA did not follow IPSC and move to a 5# limit IF they were going to make the change in the first place. I am not advocating the 5# limit but they must have known some folks would be upset with a limit change in any event so why not at least align the decision with your International cousins. The one positive thing a 3# limit does is it will keep striker fired pistols in the game. With IPSC's 5# limit DA SA guns have the advantage of transitioning to a 2 - 3 pound SA pull while the striker fired guns remain at +5#s. Among the truly competitive shooters you hardly ever see a striker fired gun shooting Production in IPSC up here. Too, the Glock 34 is not a legal IPSC Production gun.

    Take care

    Bob

Is this still true in the IPSC world?

Wow if that's the case give me my 15 rounds too then . I mean who only "carries" 10 in the mag. What a bunch of worms we got for christmas..lol

  3. Thanks to everyone for your comments.

Phil, thanks for posting. Having read what you have said, I would suggest that one of your first orders of business would be to re-visit this issue once you take office. Ask the AD's to get feedback from their SC's, ask the membership for feedback and opinions. Put a moratorium on this until you can spend time and hear what we have to say. Reach out to us.

We don't need Imperial Presidency's. people voted for a change from what was there. Doing business as usual is no change. It is OUR organization, talk to us. if we don't know what the topics are you are voting on, how can we comment?

    +1

  4. No one cared about our thoughts to begin with. Maybe will see some outlaw pistol matches popping up like with 3 gun

Your AD, Voight and Amidon told you they did not care about what you thought? I find that hard to beleive. My AD has been very recpetive to hearing my thoughts. When I have spoke to Voight and others ADs, whose area I am not even in, they too have listened to my opinions and provided their rationale and thoughts.

If you don't talk or write to or call your elected officers, in any organization, they won't be able to read your mind.

They may listen but they didn't care enough to find out how we thought to begin with.

  5. While I can do that for you I agree with Shaun there is likely something else going on. Probably ammo related since you are having problems with three different M&Ps. I would recomend chamber checking in your barrels a "lot" of ammo, along with looking carefully at primers. I wouldn't doubt it your rounds are hitting the rifling in the barrels keeping them from fully chambering.

I had some similar problems with precision coated 147s the shoulder on the bullet was such it was easy to get them hitting, had to load really short to get them to 100%

I do load fairly long (1.140" OAL with a Montana Gold CMJ). I've done the drop and spin test, and can't tell that these rounds are touching the rifling, but will chamber check a "lot" and see what I find.

Good to know there's another option, however, if I can't find the problem in my ammo.

That must take alot of powder to make pf

  6. Im sure its about the same cost as a major pistol match. Ro hotels etc. Still shooting the same targets, besides the cost of claybirds I assume

It is not. The actual on the ground cost to run a major pistol match is about 50% to 60% of what it costs to run a major 3 gun match.

What is the major cost difference? Im not bashing the sport, just curious. As to where the extra cost comes from.

  7. I liked the show where average joes came in to build a bike in 30 days. I believe it was Russel Mitchell that hosted it. His bikes were flat black and cool. No theme, just flat black...and cool. You needed palmade (hair grease) just to sit on them.

Jesse Rooke's bikes apeal to me on a show bike level. I like his KTM cafe racer. His other designs are so minimalist and bare. I like that.

Was that the show on espn a few years ago? That was good.
