  1. Posted here a couple of months back to seek help with a minor load and wanted to share my success. I wanted a super low recoil, but accurate load for 3Gun. Don't have to worry about power factor, so I may be below minor, but WOW is it fun to shoot. Load: 2.8gr Solo 1000 170 gr Precision Bullets (swaged) CCI primers Mixed brass 1.125 OAL Gun: G35 Storm Lake Barrel Wolff Comp Spring Set (12lb recoil spring w/Wolff guide rod) Dawson sites and heavy magwell Results: WOW! Super soft recoil 3" groups at 25yds Sorry - Don't own a chronograph I ran approximately 25 different trials of WST and Solo 1K and worked out some great loads for different applications. Ran this load over the weekend at a monthly 3gun and took down steel with no problem and accuracy was super. Thanks to everyone for all of help! Cheers, Kyle
  2. Great Match Today Sheldon! I know you were a bit down on it because of the wind, but everything was fun and well done. Cheers, Kyle
  3. Similar experience! My SLP has always run Wally Federals, but I run Rio's now and they are great. I DO NOT run Wally Winchesters! Cheers and have fun with that new SLP! Kyle
  4. Watch your 180! The times I have had to sling in front and have not been allowed to sling behind me have all had to do with the potential of breaking the 180 rule. Cheers, Kyle
  5. Yep, that was my first receiver scratch on my SLP! Damn pin!
  6. Thanks to all that have served! One of the biggest mistakes/regrets of my life - I can't say that I am a VETERAN! Here's to our veterans! Thank you for your sacrifice, service and selflessness! Cheers! Kyle
  7. Dairy Farmers! Anyone using large amounts of a cleaning solution. Happy Hunting! Kyle
  8. All, Has anyone run any tests with the bdc on this reticle with different loads/bullets? Benny said he was going to put together a bit of a review, but he might be a bit busy at the moment. I would love to hear some range results and know where the different hold-offs are at for different loads/bullets. Cheers, Kyle
  9. Ya, talk about needing to leave well enough alone! Kyle
  10. Super "How-to!" Thanks for the effort! Cheers, Kyle
  11. caz41, Confiscated my wife's double jogging stroller after the girls out grew it. Now I have room for my guns/gear plus room for a friend to throw in too! One side is double ATV rack the other is a single rack with both grips near the handle and poly surf fishing rod holders to slide muzzles in from Academy Sporting Goods. (They are zip tied to the frame.) And that's how we roll! Works like a champ! Cheers, Kyle
  12. CDNN Page 15 Free shipping and great service. Cheers, Kyle
  13. 2More I have run both mounts with no issues from my experiences. The LaRue is definitely better made with regard to materials and craftsmanship and goes on and off reliably with no tools. I have also run a Millett and would yield to others opinions, but from my experience, and what I read here, the optic is picky with regard to eye relief. I am not sure any mount will fix that issue. Give it a try, it might work! Especially if no one offers different advice and you will keep it for an optic upgrade later. Cheers, Kyle
  14. Wasn't sure what your reply meant, but I am assuming you are saying no thanks b/c of shipping or the drive. If you don't have any better offers the drive is lovely and Mike is worth it! He does custom work for me all of the time and makes sure it is right. Cheers, Kyle
  15. It would be a bit of a drive for you, but my smith in Stephenville is amazing! Everything he does is top notch. Shumaker Gunworks Moderators, please tell me if this type of local advice for a gunsmith that is not on the advertiser's group with the forum is going too far. Happy to remove if necessary. Cheers, Kyle
  16. Kyle - thanks for the note; just what I was looking for. Your endorsement certainly reinforces my initial research / opinion. Glad to hear it's simple to use and accurate - those are really my two main criteria. I'll ensure "Santa" is tracking the correct model. Thanks again, Doug Happy to help! See you soon - Kyle
  17. Full Auto, Since no one has offered their advice on the specific model you have asked about, I will give you some very direct feedback. PURCHASE WITHOUT RESERVATION! Ask to use mine the next time we shoot together. It is an amazing little piece of kit! Measurements are simple and the only challenge is hitting your target at 800+ yards. Everything about the range finder is intuitive and simple. There is an option to engage near and far objects, but is tends to get in the way. I have accurately shot ranges out to 1200 yards with my unit and trust it with everything I do in long range and 3Gun. I used mine to set up the long range shoot you were at our place and it took me very little time to range all of our targets. See you soon! Kyle
  18. Ha Ha Jim! I would actually like to see one in hand, but have not come across it yet. I am leaning toward the Horus Blackbird 1.5-8x, the Burris XTR or a couple of other stragglers, but no final decisions yet. The reticle on this Burris has me intrigued! Cheers, Kyle
  19. Benny, Could you write us up a review after Arkansas? I am very interested in the "hold-offs" on the reticle, how accurate they are with your loads, if it if 1st or 2nd focal plane, etc. Would really like to hear from you on it! Pretty please and thank you! (Can you tell I am in optic limbo at the moment?) Cheers, Kyle
  20. That was one of the best pieces of advice I got after the fact! Now, when I want to look at any new piece of equipment I find someone at a match who has what I am interested in and ask if I can handle it/try it. The answer is always a resounding yes (folks are proud of their stuff). More times than not I have learned, "Man, that's not what I thought it was going to be!" - And the search continues. Good luck! Kyle PS - I also agree with Religious Shooter above. However, we have zero matches in our area with an open class - maybe you do?
  21. I ran the Daniel Defense and Fastfire II combo for a while in tandem with a 2x-7x. Loved it until I started shooting matches that allow one optic only. Have a look at the Leatherwood, Millet, Nikon, etc. 1-4x's and be done with it. You can get into a more manageable optic for the same price as the Fastfire II. Just my $.02. Cheers, Kyle DocMcg, during your transition to 1-4X...did you happen to take note which of the budget 1-4X's had the most forgiving eye relief/positioning? i am at a loss for terminology, but i'm talking about some scopes i have seen...if your are not positioned exactly where you need to be...you can't see squat; even at 1X. Jin - The three I mentioned are fairly forgiving. I shot with the Millet for quite a while and never struggled with eye relief issues. I have peered through the other two mounted, but never competed with either. I think it is my cheek weld, but I have not had struggles with eye relief. I am curious about the Leatherwood b/c it has the best BDC reticle of the three. This is an amazing collection of reviews on AR15.com and information on a number of popular 1x optics. It takes a while to consume, but is well worth it. 00bullitt maintains the link in the Rifle-Technical thread on Enos. Here is another review of the Konus M30. Inexpensive optic receiving good to moderate marks from the reviewer. Cheers, Kyle

  23. Super! I agree with what you are saying about "readiness." I am still wondering if there are any rulings out there. More curiosity than anything else. There are definitely more "kid friendly" venues in several of the rimfire type matches. I can't wait to get my daughters involved with the Ruger matches or Steel Challenge. Side Bar - It has been tons of fun to watch both Kyle and Luke develop their 3Gun skills during the last two years. Those in our circle are lucky to have two juniors to watch on a regular basis. They are a gift! Thanks for sharing! Cheers, Kyle
  24. Hello All! Interesting question about junior shooters and 3gun here! A friend contacted me and says that his son has fallen in love with 3Gun Nation and wants to get involved, however, he is five! He is a very unique young man who is wise beyond five trips around the sun due to the fact that he is already beat cancer! This does not necessarily make him mentally and/or emotionally ready to compete in a match. My research on Enos turns up lots of results concerning USPSA and IPSC, both with varied answers, situations and ages (and one "official" USPSA response). So, my question is this, what are the youngest ages you have seen juniors shoot 3gun? I have shot with a 13 year-old with dad very close by, but that is the youngest in my experience. Thoughts? Guidance to specific match rules? Etc.? Cheers, Kyle
