  1. We’re just a little over a week out from the start of the 5th Annual Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun Championship Match. This year’s match will feature 14 stages that will test your skill, endurance, and strategy. Here are some information to help you prepare for the match. OPEN SLOTS: We’ve had a few cancellations and offers have been sent to the folks on the top of the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list, please check your email. Due to the time constraints, all offers are only valid for 24 hours before they are passed on to the next person on the waiting list. SCHEDULE: The match schedule is attached. · Thursday, June 25th is the set-up date. The range will be closed to everyone outside the match staff. There will be no shooting and no pre-viewing the stages on this day. · Friday, June 26th is the staff shoot day. The staff will be shooting all 14 stages in a marathon day. The range will remain closed to everyone outside of the match staff until 4PM when the registration check-in opens. All shooters must check-in before they are allowed to pre-view the stages. Please stay clear of any stages where the staff is shooting. Registration check-in will be at the main clubhouse from 4PM to 7PM. · Saturday, June 27th is Match Day 1. Registration check-in will continue from 7AM and close at 8AM. The opening ceremony and shooters’ meeting will start at 8AM. Shooters will then head to their stages and shooting begins promptly at 9AM. There will be no stage jumping, the squads must stay together. If things progress ahead of time, a squad may be able to shoot ahead of schedule (but in order) if the entire squad is present. · Sunday, June 28th is Match Day 2. All shooters will need to be at their stages by prior to 8:30AM. Shooting begins promptly at 9AM. The scoring period will begin at 2PM or when the shooting is completed. The awards ceremony will start 1 hour after the shooting is completed. ROUND COUNT: Total minimum round count is 290 (266 birdshot, 14 slugs, and 10 buck shots). Remember that no steel shots or shots larger than 7½ are allowed. High brass shells are not needed. STAGES: Stage designs have been finalized but will not be released prior to the match. There will be 10 field stages and 4 quick down and dirty stages. These 4 quick stages will be paired up in two’s and shot back-to-back during a squad rotation. Match booklets will be handed out during registration check-in and will contain stage descriptions. But please remember that stage designs are concepts and changes once they hit the ground. The final and official stage descriptions will be the ones posted at the stages. SQUADS: This year’s squad assignments are self-squadding through Practiscore. There are 12 squads that will be rotating from one stage to the next with very little down time. SCORING: Scoring is done through Practiscore, but each shooter will be given an official scoresheet where their score is recorded by the RO’s at each stage. This official scoresheet serves as your records and will be the only acceptable form to dispute any scores recorded in the Practiscore system. LUNCH: The Forest Lake High School Trap Team will be cooking and serving lunches by the clubhouse on both match days. This is a fundraising event for the team. Please support our future generation of shooters and have lunch at the club. TRAFFIC: The map to the range is attached. Please follow the directions provided to minimize the residential traffic and dust kicked up on the gravel roads. Please obey the speed limit of 30 M.P.H. as there may be children and pedestrians walking on the roads. PARKING: There are 3 areas for general parking which will be noted in the range map in the match booklet. All the stages are within walking distance of the parking areas with the farthest distance being about 100 yards. Only match staff members are allowed to park at the stages. ATV/UTV: Only staff members will be allowed to use an ATV/UTV at the range. If a shooter has a particular need to use an ATV/UTV, please contact us for considerations. And last but not least… BEER GARDEN: We will have a beer garden at the main club house on Saturday evening AFTER the 1st day of the match is completed. Have a safe travel and see you next weekend.
  2. We are just a little over a month out from the match. Everything is progressing well in our preparations. We have had very few movements with the waiting list as very few have cancelled from the match. A reminder that match cancellations will need to be done before the end of the day on May 26, 2015 to receive a full refund. After the May 26th deadline, refunds on any cancellations will only be given if a replacement shooter from the waiting list is able to take your place. Stage designs will be finalized in the next week or two and we will post an estimated round count when we do. As before, the stage designs will not be released or posted prior to the match to keep it as fair as possible for those who don't have the resources to replicate and practice them. The stages actually don't hit the ground until the day before the RO's shoot.
  3. On the Practiscore website. Here is the link...https://practiscore.com/results.php?uuid=4c983ce8-470c-40fe-87c3-7fea13e81d17
  4. Great stages and great match staff made for a great weekend. Some of the stages turned out to be more of a challenge than I expected during the walk through, but all were a whole lot of fun to shoot. I would have registered and paid for next year's match if they were taking it right then. On a side note, I lost a gold cross pendant during the awards ceremony. The monetary value is not much, but the sentimental value is. I've had it on my necklace for over 31 years since I inherited it from my mother. As my son helped look for it, he overheard someone in a group mentioned "gold cross, free money". He ran to get me but and pointed out a possible guy but couldn't positively tell. So I approached the group and asked but no one claimed to have found it. If someone finds or found it, I would greatly appreciate getting it back and would gladly give a reward for its return.
  5. Oh boy. With a 308 and a comp, I'm guessing this will be a free dental check to see if I have any cavities.
  6. I love steel rifle targets, especially those that I can see with good old iron sights.
  7. Stages will be set up in three areas of the range. There will be parking near each area. Farthest walk may be 1 or 2 stages at about 150-200 yards from the parking areas. A cart can come in handy. With some of the paths being narrow, ATVs and the likes are limited to match staff only. If a shooter has a physical need to have an ATV on site, we will consider it on a case by case basis.
  8. Just to make sure JJ doesn't get excited...Brian meant to say CART, not "cat". And no JJ, the city-kitty will not be pushing a cart for you.
  9. It'll be full days with lunch breaks. We will have 12 squads rotating on 12 stages, so the only "off" time is lunch break and walking to the next stage. 1st day is rotating through 8 stages one after another. 2nd day is rotating through the remaining stages in the morning to early afternoon, then the awards in the late afternoon. Hoping to have things wrapped up by about 5 or 6 PM.
  10. Looking forward to seeing you and JJ here in Minnesota. I haven't seen you two up here since the days of the good old DPMS Tri-Gun Challenge.
  11. The range website is down. But the address is 4648 20th St N, Forest Lake, MN, 55025. I am working on compiling the waitlist.
  12. Wow! The match filled in 17 minutes! If the automated email you received upon registering does NOT say you've been waitlisted, then you are good to go with sending in your match fee payment. When it is received, you will get a match approval email and you'll be able to self-squad. Remember that there is a 2 week deadline for payment to be received. If your payment has not been received by February 15th, your registration will be rotated to the rear which means that you'll be placed in the back of the waitlist. If the automated email you received upon registering says that you've been waitlisted, do not send in a payment until you hear from us. Stay hopeful however. We blocked off a lot of slots for match sponsors. Those slots if unused will eventually open up to those on the waitlist. We also have room to expand but want to make sure we have the sponsors lined up first before we expand further. We're confident that we'll be able to take in a lot of folks on the waitlist. We just don't want to move too fast and sacrifice the quality of the match.
  13. Reminder: The on-line registrations for the 2015 Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun Championships opens tomorrow at noon CST. Slots are limited to maintain the quality match and generous prize table this match have become known for. Registration will be done using Practiscore Match Management. https://clubs.practiscore.com/2015-5th-annual-nordic-components-tactical-shotgun-championship/register All first round registrations are complete and has been entered into the system. Minor change from the 1st announcement: Match t-shirt will be $15 (not $20) and are available for pre-purchase during registrations. We look forward to seeing you at the match.

  15. Nordic Components (Facebook) and the Minnesota 3-Gun Group (Facebook) are pleased to announce the 5th Annual Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun Championship (Facebook) to be held on June 27th-28th, 2015 at the Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club (Facebook). We will again have 12 fun and challenging stages with a high round count that will make feel your shotgun heat up. The same wonderful and generous sponsors that provided for our great prize table are once again in line to do so, and we are working to add even more. Match slots will be limited so we could maintain the same quality match (and generous prize table). The match reached full capacity with a waiting list in the past two years. Last year, the match filled in two days. It will likely happen again so plan on registering early to get your best chances of getting in. We want to thank all of those who have participated in our match these past years and helped us make this event the premier tactical shotgun match. To show our appreciation, we will once again open the registration in two rounds. The 1st round of registrations WILL ONLY be for those who participated in our match in both the past THREE years (2012, 2013, and 2014). There are approximately 17 shooters who qualify and they will receive their early registration invitations through email. This 1st round of registration will only be open for a limited time. The 2nd round of registrations will open up on February 1st at noon and will be for everyone. The 2nd round registration will be done through Practiscore Match Managament. The process of this registration is: 1. Fill out the match registration form 2. You will receive an automated email stating that you are registered. Print this out and mail it in with payment ($165 for adults / $55 for juniors) 3. Payment must be received within two weeks of the date you registered 4. When payment is received, you will receive a match confirmation email with links to your own personal match management page and self-squadding Once the match fills, a waiting list will automatically be started and that order will also be based on the order you registered. Match T-Shirts will be available for pre-purchase on the registration form. T-shirts will be $20 each and will be available for pick-up during match check-in. A limited amount of t-shirts will be available for purchase during check-in and the match. We are excited for this match and we have a lot of things planned. We have all the intentions of keeping the reputation of this match as the premier tactical shotgun match. Match information and updates will be posted on the match website, Facebook page, and in this Enos Forum topic. We look forward to seeing you at the match. 16. Sorry for the delayed response. The official 2015 match announcement will come out next week (probably on January 1st). On-line registrations are going to open up on February 1st.
  17. There is a Country Inn right in town. http://m.countryinns.com/mweb/forest-lake-hotel-mn-55025/mnforest
  18. I think Jesse had a typo. Looks like 3GN made their Nation Regional Match on the same weekend of June 27th-28th. Sorry Jesse, we announced the dates of the Nordic Match since last July shortly after the match. We chose that weekend as it was wide open in the match calender. We decided to keep it that weekend for 2015 in hopes we avoid conflicts with other matches. Too bad 3GN didn't do the same.
  19. What we experienced was not a loss of battery life due to the freezing temps, it was the touch screens becoming unresponsive when they're exposed to the freezing elements.
  20. Well, we now know how well the Nooks perform in the cold. The morning at the range started out at 1 degree, gradually warmed to about 20 degrees in the afternoon. I kept the Nooks in a warm and running truck during registration which I did with an iPad mini. Within a couple of minutes of taking the Nooks out of the car to sync them in the bed of my truck, they began to freeze up. The screens became unresponsive and I had to place them back in the warm cab to get them started. After they warmed up, they started to function like normal again. But within minutes of getting them out to the stages, they quickly froze up. Keeping them inside the jacket kind of help, but constantly bringing them out to input scores didn't get them warmed up fast enough in between. They froze mush faster than we can get them warmed up. To keep things running smoothly, we resorted to using up a couple of cars and just keep the nooks inside cars. The iPad mini performed much better in the cold, but after prolonged exposure in the cold, it also began to act sluggish.
