I'm going to try make it next year if you'll have me. But you know this "City-Kitty" as JJ calls me have a reputation of breaking a steel target or two in just about all the major matches I've been to.

I'm so excited. Maybe this will be the cure to a problem I've been having lately with my trigger finger twitching quite a lot. It started when I began looking at the stage designs.

What a very nice and fitting thing to do to commemorate a very good man. I only knew Eddie for a short time, and I only got to see him at the matches. But I will never forget how he was always willing to help anyone. As someone who was new to 3-Gun and loved my He-Man guns, I looked up to Eddie as not only one of the best shooters, but also one of the best role models for the sport.

To Kirk, Misty, and company: Thanks for all that you have done and continue to do to make this match one of the best there is. This is my favorite match, and I will continue to return year after year as long as you hold it. To all the sponsors: Thanks for all your support of our sport. Even after not finishing well this year, I still walked away with a prize well worth what I paid to going into this match. To the RO's: Thanks for all your hard work. I'm sorry to hear that Pashia and Mike on Stage 8 had to deal with a squad or two who failed to reset the targets. You guys had to walk up and down that slope 250+ times over 4+ days, and you should have not had to reset a single target after running a shooter. IMHO, I wished you guys would have exercised your right to penalize those squads or just sit down and not run the next shooter until they reset it. You guys were just too nice. To my fellow shooters in Squad 1: Thank you for the great company and all the laughs. I also had the priviledge of shooting with the top two HM Shooters, Kuan Watson and Bryan Ray. Despite seeing my a@@ get handed to me stage after stage, it was good to see you both perform and I got to see things I could do to improve on. The biggest thanks goes to Bryan Ray's and Brian Vaught's wives for being our "Squad Moms" and took care of us. My favorite stage was stage 4. You got to shoot all 3 guns and you also had options to shoot some targets with either a handgun or shotgun. It gives the shooter a choice between reloading the shotgun that puts out a wider payload or go with the handgun and take more of a precise shot. The rifle at varying distances targets were challeging. My least favorite stage was stage 7 simply because I couldn't hit them darn targets with a slug while on that darn swing, but thats on me. I gave it an honest try though instead of just letting 6 slugs fly down range. I can't complain about the stage design as some shooters got their hits, some did not. To me, part of that game was either try and get your hits or take the penalty for the misses. I am glad however that the penalty for misses on this stage was 10 seconds each and not 5 as common to other matches. Only change I would like to see for next year is the use of more target backers for all the distance targets. Having a target backer that is a contrary color to the target (especially with those autopoppers) helps make the targets more visible throughout the day. Its more fun for us iron shooters to be able to see the targets we're shooting at rather than guess-timate where the target is in relation to the backer. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Correct. The retention holsters are not required as long as the holster can securely hold the handgun, but 3-Gun often requires the shooter to move rigorously. And the courses of fire have began to become more physically challenging than in years past. The more serious 3-gunners are now opting for the holster with retention than the traditional speedy open-top holster commonly used in IPSC/USPSA. Last May at the Midwest 3-Gun Championship in Fayette MO, I watched as a shooter was running to a shooting position with his rifle in his hand and his loaded handgun in an open-top holster. Then suddenly, I saw an object fall off from him and it tumbled and rolled in the ground. At this object began to slow down, everyone quickly realized that it was the shooter's Glock. It was a little nerve racking as you waited for it to come to a rest. The shooter was DQ-d and he was too upset to talk to anyone about how it happened. I would assume that it happened either by his open-top holster being too loose, or the stock in his rifle caught the handgun as he was raising it up and pulled the handgun out of the holster. Either way, it would have been prevented had he been using a holster with more retention.

The rules syas: 9.1.7 A Maximum Time shall be established for each stage (180 seconds unless otherwise noted). I did hear from someone that some of the par times will be closer to 400.

I thought that the shotgun cost a lot, now $200 for a sling system? Where did I put that money tree.... I had to do a double take on the price. I'll be sticking with my $40 V-Tac slings.

I did not see any of the beloved MGM spinners on the stage designs. I was looking forward to that.

If you're shooting in Tac-Limited or Tac-Optics where the minimum handgun caliber is a 9mm, shoot the 9mm over .40 cal. The less recoil, the better and faster. About the only thing a .40 cal would have an advantage on is on an MGM spinner target where something with a bigger punch would help spin it around. But those targets are mostly used as shotgun targets.

Trying to get ammo supplies ready for this match. Is there a round count yet? Is there a limit on shot size? And are we going to need slugs and/or buckshots? Thanks.

Didn't mean to turn this thread into the debated red dot vs irons subject. I'm just curious and would like to know who ran with what at the end. Personally, I'm in Heavy Metal Irons and I'm glad O3GC is keeping the tradition of it being irons only.

I like how there are a lot more people shooting in Tac-Irons (or Tac-Limited to those more politically correct). Having the red-dots join in on that division is sure the reason why. But I've always questioned the fairness. It would be nice to know who's shooting irons and who's shooting red-dots to kind of see how well they match up against each other at the final results.

Boy was I glad to see the Brian Payne imitation prop get used again. I get about as much entertainment in telling the story behind it as watching it get get crippled hit after hit.
