  1. Contact the NRA either by calling or going to thier website. They have partnered with a company that offers instructors insurance. It's a great deal. You must be a member of the NRA to qualify. You must also have some type of regonized training such as a CCDW instructors license or NORI range officer credentials. +1
  2. Changed the oil in my '06 F-250 tonight. Local shops charge $100+ to do it, so I won't complain about the $60 I spend every time I change it. Its a fact of life that it needs changed, but I hate getting rid of the used oil. My 15 quart oil pan barely holds what comes out of the truck. Getting the used oil back into the containers I just filled the truck up with is a nightmare itself. With all the oil changes I have done on the truck, I have accumulated 30+ gallons of used oil, all sitting in the garage. Maybe next year during camping season, I'll take it out to the camper and use it to start my fires.
  3. I like the longer stages, with movement. Ports are good (high and low), along with the risk/reward of be able to take long shots. Carnival shoots, while fun, get to be a little much if they make up an entire match. For what its worth, I have been to three matches. My likes and dislikes are going to change the more I shoot.
  4. Thats some funny stuff. Wish I knew the whole story...

    propellant

My mistake. I was thinking about ordering GG, but I thought about propane, and just orderd the adapter. I just place d the order Sunday, received the gun today. I'll have to bite the bullet and place another order for GG.

    propellant

I just picked up a WE 1911 gas airsoft gun. I picked up a couple propane tanks for fuel as well. I had forgotten how bad propane smells. I bought the pistol for my wife and I to shoot relatively cheaply in the house/garage. The smell though will keep her from shooting it (bothers me, but i can live with it). Is there another gas out there that can be used that doesn't smell like rotting zombies?

    Glock 22 or 35

No reason you can't shoot the 22 in Limited. The longer sight radius will help, as will the extra weight of the slide might help it balance better. You can do everything to the 22 that you can do to the 35. Can't help you with which mods- I am sure someone will be along shortly to help with that. With the cheap G22's available frome LE trade ins, I have thought about this as well.
  8. For some odd reason, I thought they ran USPSA matches on Friday night. I was wrong (alot of that this week), they are on Saturdays. You'll see me there. Are you the gentleman I met at SCSA a couple weeks ago?
  9. Huh? How does shooting off a rest take your finger out of the equation? I always try to talk my rest into taking care of my trigger press for me, but so far none have bitten...darned snobs I say! If I could get something to take over the trigger press- I would still suck.....
  10. Huh? How does shooting off a rest take your finger out of the equation? It doesn't. I mispoke. Shooting it off a rest helps, but doesn't take the finger out of the equation. Please excuse the gaffe. Man are you guys tough....
  11. I haved never tried 147's in the gun. I will try some of the ones mentioned above over the winter.
  12. I am not to the point of going to a aftermarket barrel. I have shot it off a rest, so I took my 'finger' out of the equation. Like I said, I am not disappointed, just curious. So did it move at all when you prevented the slide from moving back any? I've checked my others and if you don't let the slide move back a tiny bit, the barrel won't drop down at all. If I push on the slide from the rear, the barrel hood will not move when pressure is applied. I was daydreaming the other day, on how to improve things-not just the gun, but me and my shooting. I started to look a the pistol, went over it, and remembered the hood movement. I started thinking about how to 'test' a 1911, and one is to press on the hood to see if there is any movement. I comapred apples and oranges. It is a nonissue I believe now that I have some feedback on it. GUn shoots fine, and in the time I have had it, I have had only two FTF with it-both my due to my less than mouse fart loads. I am going to try some different loads over the winter, and see if that improves things. Thanks for talking it through.

  14. If we did, I would attend them. I have a couple indoor ones I can attend, but Fridays are terrible for me, as the wife comes home from being away all week.
  15. I noticed this along toime ago, but when my Glock 17 is in battery, I can push down on the barrel hood, and move it roughly 3/32 or so. I have fired 4 different bullets through it (124 and 115 grs), and accuracy isn't all that great. I haven't sat down in a while to measure group size, but when new, it shot 3+ inches with Win white box and remington 115 gr FMJ. I am not complaining-just curious if the barrel fitting might be a little on the loose side. Any input from the experienced Glock guys?
  16. I have been shooting 124 gr Winchester FMJ's and Remington 124gr JHP's for matches. I have tried 115gr plated FMJs, 115 gr HPs as well. Accuracy is fine for what I am doing, but it isn't something to write home about. Generally speaking, semi wadcutters are accurate bullets. Anything in 9mm thats similar? I am going to place a bullet order soon, and would like to try some out. I am shooting a stock Glock 17. Lead bullet suggestions are fine.
  17. I am lucky to have a few experienced shooters around me. Going with one to the range Saturday (weather permitting) to practice shot calling. The RO knew I was frustrated and made a few jokes. It did make me laugh, which lightened things up a bit. I have a long, probably cold, wet winter ahead. Thinking of getting a Airsoft gun- so I am going to do some research on those soon. PSend the winter practicing, and if the stars align come spring, I'll be OK.
  18. CM99-62 bang and clang I tried to shoot it like any other stage. Unfortunately, that day, I did. And I have the results of the three others (plus the reshoot) to prove it. Just a bad day. Learn from it and move on I suppose.
  19. Shot my first classifier today. 4 poppers and one cardboard, 6 shots total. I required 18 rounds to finish the COF (a few of those 18 rounds were out of frustration on the steel). On the second relay, shooting revo (first relay was Production, G17), missed the 3rd popper. The RO felt sorry for me (after giving me all kinds of grief ), so I was able to shoot once more. Missed two steel on that run. Something to laugh at, and something to remember.
  20. I have run across a Witness Hunter in 45 ACP. I would like to shoot a 45 in Limited 10. Price is right on the gun, and I don't know of anything glaringly wrong with the platform, but I want to double check before I commit. Anything I should be concerned about?
  21. I was standing at the gun counter of a Gander Mountain when I heard this. Customer: Do you have a Beretta 92? Employee: I have never heard of that Model. Customer: You know, the one Mel Gibson used in Lethal Weapon. Employee: What does it look like? At this point, the customer looked around and caught my eye. I looked at him and told him it was hopeless....
  22. My wife and I sold her 1999 Lincoln Navigator earlier this year. Paid $2000 used. Put that into it in repairs in less than 2 years. Last 2 months we had it, we put $2800 into it (though $550 was tires). Left her stranded twice during the time we had it. My first car literally died. Within a two week period, my '76 Buick Skylark brakes went out, charging system stopped working, transmission started producing LOUD noises, and some sort of timing issue was occuring. When the brakes failed, I parked it, and eventually junked it. My '06 Superduty might be the next worst vehicle. Frozen front calipers in July , and frozen axle shafts in October. It has never plowed snow, only off roading it has seen is a rough driveway. Probably been in 4wd a total of 5 hours. Less than 55k miles.
  23. I have a friend that has purchased a few guns from them. Its all legit. I don't look often, but when I do, there is always something interesting up for bid.
  24. +1 for everything said above. Take more ammo than you think you need. You might run into a few 30 round stages that require alot more than 30 rounds Might have to do a re-shoot or two as well. Don't forget about the side matches. You'll be surprised at how many helpful people you will meet along the way.
