  1. I totally disagree. Any handling of the gun is good...in fact I'm known for just picking up my fire stick while I'm on the phone or at the computer or anything, getting a sight picture or hitting the trigger once or twice then putting it down. It is effective any way you do it....to get the most out of it you need to dry fire on what you need to work on as often as you can. I also make sure to dry fire the night after a live fire session...I think that is something you cannot leave out of your training. From what I've found....dry firing is only boring if you look at it that way. I look forward to dry firing every night because I know it is bringing me one step closer to my goals. Dang...I wish I would have known static transitions don't help on field courses....
  2. A visualize everything I need to succeed on the stage. All the targets, perfect sight picture on those targets, seeing the dot lift out of the A zone every time. This can even be done in IDPA as you don't need to airgun to visualize.
  3. Do NOT slow down....all you need is to see faster. There is no cure-all answer anyone can give you. You know what you need to do...do it.
  4. For that matter...why is there braille on any public sign?
  5. Go to nats....there is absolutely no substitute for experience that it provides.
  6. I'm pretty sure it is right as the HHF for this stage is set kinda low. Great job though! I was going to come to the match but it wouldn't make much sense to come without a gun. heh
  7. I agree...it took a month or two of working the bugs out and finding the load the gun liked but after that my 9 major gun runs like a raped ape (no family ties to 300lbgorrila ).
  8. You'll never "bother" with an optical sight? Not tactical enough???
  9. After a lot of thought....the only downfall of 2004 was the no tan...which ended up costing her the vote as I could not find any flaws in 2005.
  10. Even if you are a GM you aren't gonna make up time by hosing and dropping points.
  11. Hammer time? ...can't touch this.
  12. If it is a blind stage, it is downright unfair without a par time. What really irks me is when they have movers that incur miss penalties on a blind stage. That is nothing more than a circus trick.
  13. Ok maybe here is a better question. Exactly what do you think the uber-load will do for you? I promise you you are WAYYYYYY overestimating the usefulness of a soft load. You would be much better served putting this determination and focus into improving your shooting ability rather than research and trial and error for a little softer load. And I'm not even going to touch on the safety aspect of an inexperienced reloader finding a load recipe online and trying it.
  14. I agreed with ya right up until that last line XRe. Reloads absolutely DO matter if there is significant movement. Take 2 people with the same footspeed. Have one of them complete the reload in the first step, and the other complete the reload about halfway to the next position and see who wins.
  15. Tom, The load won the match for you? Might be good to rephrase that one.
  16. I think it's just a way to screw shooters who are air gunning with a mag totally innocently. I practically had to tackle my buddy at a recent match because he was doing it and didn't realize it. IMHO, this rule is WAY too draconian.
  17. Yeah I can see how 6 and 8 inch plates at 600 yards might be a problem... I would just roll over and cry in the fetal position.
  18. Fair enough. Then if it were me I would get the lowest magnification possible with still being able to get a good sight picture at whatever yardage I expected to be shooting... I like as large a field of view as possible. That being said, I have shot to the limit of the ammunition (australian .308 fairly low grade) at 250 yards with a 2x scout scope. I can see where that would be a problem finding an 8 inch plate in that yardage though.
  19. Walter beat me to it....I was gonna compare Revolver to horse and buggy though.
  20. Ok well if we are just gonna have side shoots, what does everyone want to see? Here are some possibles... Plate Rack Double Trouble (for BE of course) El Prez? What else?
  21. I shot Production because it was the equipment I had. Now I shoot Open because it is the fastest and most intense division...I akin it to funny car racing.
  22. Seems like the name itself is a description of whether or not it will be ok in Production. "Stock-Custom" Wtf is that?
