  1. I recently tried out some 6 1/2 Remington primers in .223 loads using 55gr projectiles and 25.3 gr of TAC. The ammo shot great, but I was getting between 15-20% pierced primers and trashed a bolt with about 100 rounds. The primer would have a pinhole burn out right on the outside edge of the cup. I do not recommend messing with them in 223 unless you are loading very light and it is your only option.
  2. looks like the 110 Vmax bullets won't be available again until sometime next year http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2013/07/hornady-suspends-production-of-150-ammo-types-and-150-bullet-types-for-balance-of-2013/ http://www.hornady.com/store/.308-30-CAL/ bummer
  3. I am a big fan of DLC. Not cheap but very durable and has a low coefficient of friction. Good corrosion resistance too.
  4. it is not the same at the 9mm bullets as far as bullet profile, but they can be used in 9mm just fine. You will most likely need a short OAL. With the 357 sig FMJ 125gr bullets I have to load to an OAL of 1.055" for them to feed in my 9mm with the least forgiving chamber throat.
  5. It is a little high for the FMJ and SP and about right for the V-MAX. I see the FMJs and SP on other forums regularly for $135 per 1000 shipped right now.
  6. The reticle that is most commonly used in 3 gun is the DCD. It has a very small center dot (1moa I think). http://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/scopes/prismatic-riflescopes/prismatic-hunting-1x14mm/ The reticle is etched in the glass so to my knowledge a custom reticle is not an option. I would like to see a picture of the CDS dial for one of you guys using those. Seems like an interesting idea for $160.
  7. has anyone had breech face erosion when low pressure minor loads don't seal the magnum primer all the way?
  8. I see some 9, 40 and 45 in stock right now
  9. bullets in stock right now
  10. there are a few things in stock right now
  11. No, I can pretty much tell you now... this will rock the 3-gun world about as much as the invention of Pyrodex. Just wait till there is a black powder division in three gun...
  12. I think they will let each buyer get 10k of each type. So up to 40k for each person on standard primers, more if magnums are involved.
  13. I see some 45 and 40 bullets in stock right now
  14. I see bullets in stock in all pistol calibers right now
  15. I see bullets in stock right now
  16. Powder Valley has WST right now in 4 and 8lb sizes
  17. Copper has more than tripled since Jan 2004, lead has more than doubled since Jan 2004. There is a realized inflation rate of approx. 10% per year since about 2000. Demand drives prices more than anything, but even without the increased demand these companies should be increasing their pricing more often than they do. Having employees in the US cost more and more due to our country's great policies. The current demand and increase in costs should justify them increasing their prices more than they have. If these companies don't make enough profit they will go away and we will have an even harder time getting the supplies we need to keep shooting. If you really think the whole industry is gouging everyone then please start your own company and sell products at below market prices. Me, and most everyone else looking for the particular products will buy them. You will have no shortage of customers, but I fear you will not be in business very long. Our dollars buy less and less every day.
  18. Found some powders at Powder Valley today, Titegroup and Varget went quick but I still see N320 amd Win 231 and WSF
  19. This doesn't look uncommon to me but could be matched up better. I would do heavier material removal focused on the grip safety right below the piviot point of the thumb safety with out removing any material on the frame to get the lines to match up. You will get a little of a flat spot below the beaver tail that you can then round out when you blend it all to the frame. Careful to keep the grip safety symmetric when removing the material. The part of the grip safety that is blended to the back of the grip looks good. Most of your material removal should come from the grip safety, and depending on the safety and the frame there can be quite a bit more in some cases than others.
