  1. wish i had stumbled across this thread earlier. i am ordering a new Match in .40 in a few days. are there any magazine issues like with the 9mm? i want something that will run on factory length ammo, both ball and HP ammunition. thanks. liontribe
  2. i did a search but did not find any definite info. i am ordering a Match in .40 next week. how is the reliability with the standard length ammo? i want something that will run well with factory ammo as well as HP ammunition. i read about the troubles people are having with the 9mm mags and i don't want that kind of headache. thanks. liontribe
  3. i understand that the GK Limited pistols are not imported to the US. i would like to refinish one of my Limited guns in that two tone style. i like Ion-Bond but that is black. what is the best finish that i can get in a medium/dark grey color? here is a pic of a Limited GK. liontribe
  4. It's not a surface treatment. Just polished or blasted metal. You could bead blast it if you want. [/quote I gotcha. i went back and re-read your earlier post. i am at work, so i am not paying close attention to much of anything right now. except the clock. thanks. liontribe
  5. does anyone know how deep the factory chrome finish is? i was thinking about what Cha-Lee said about sun glare. if the finish is sufficiently deep, one could scotch brite the chrome finish and give it a subdued appearance. think ruger stainless. just trying to think of a cheap way to fix any glare issues. thoughts? liontribe
  6. i have had just a small amount of peening in my .45 and .38Super Limited models. i got the conefit rods from Henning and all is aces now. take down is a breeze and no more dinging up the frame. i ran several hundred rounds through both this weekend and not a bit of damage from the guide rod. great product. can ya tell i like it? liontribe
  7. i have been thinking that one of my Limited pistols needs a face lift. has anyone ever replaced the checkering with the snakeskin treatment that some of the newer 1911 models have been sporting? i would love to get that look on one of my tanfoglios. liontribe

    MGM beaver tail

the smart lock is the model i have been leaning toward. may have to pick up one soon. i wonder if they will fit the gen 4 glocks? liontribe
  9. sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders. liontribe
  10. glad i found this thread. the wife is wanting one and i can't stand the looks. i like the old square body style. gives me some good shut-up juice for little lady. liontribe
  11. yeah, on the surface that looks to be a nice piston set-up. liontribe
  12. this is relevant to my interests. liontribe

    Glock Gen.4

i shot a Gen 4 17 this past saturday. it was a lot nicer than i would have figured. the grip texture is actually very nice. it almost seemed to have more recoil than the older generation 17s that i have owned. will have to do some more testing. liontribe
  14. i have several "gunsmiths" in my area. i would not leave them alone with a cap gun. is there a GO TO guy in my neck of the woods. i am in tuscaloosa, but would drive a bit for a good smith. thanks. liontribe
  15. i have noticed that the big bore tanfoglio pistols seem to need new recoil springs on a regular basis if shot regularly. as posted above, twice a year seems like a good estimate for swapping recoil springs. best. liontribe
  16. i always got better accuracy out of my G34. never knew if it was the sights or the mechanical accuracy of the pistol. it was actually not too hard to shoot rabbits on the move with my 34, it was quite the gun. not sure why i traded it. huh, i guess i need another. liontribe
  17. i am getting used to the factory sights. i thought for sure i would change them at first. ya never know. jeff at SAI fixed my little reset trouble and she is running like a scalded ape. she is a fast runner. i am running with blade tech gear and it is top notch as always. liontribe
  18. i like the look the darker finish on the EAA pistols. but i do think the hard chrome is the one to beat. it is very durable. liontribe
  19. i was going to run a briley barrel because i thought i had a crack in the barrel cam. looked just like a hairline crack. i took it to my local gunsmith the have him look it over. turned out to be an odd scratch in the finish. it looked for all the world to be cracked. had to inspect under a loupe. it polished right out. anyway, i have learned from several good sources that the briley is the brand, if the factory barrel is not an option. sorry, longwinded today. bored at work. liontribe
  20. the big .45 is a little shy on the capacity side. shame too, mine is scary accurate. the most accurate tanfoglio i own. the price of ammo has me back and forth on trading for something else as well as the capacity deal. need to start reloading .45 i guess. liontribe
  21. well, she seems to have developed a little reset problem. every once in a blue moon, it will fail to reset. i will be shipping her back to SAI as soon as they return from the holidays. i have heard good things about SAI customer service, though. liontribe
  22. well, it might be worth your while to try the oversized slide pin offered on henning's site. he is first rate. i myself am placing an order for his conehead guide rod and some other goodies in the next few days. liontribe
  23. what about hollow point ammo? do the tanfoglio guns seem to favor any one brand or style over another. i aim to make my next nightstand gun a railed Match in .40SW. if they are anything like my .45, they will eat anything and make it look good on paper! liontribe
  24. man, you are really on the ball. now i just need to find a new railed Match and rub my hands greedily until the new holsters are ready. good show. liontribe
