Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Got mine too Already put a hundred rounds through it. Well what do you think! How does it feel? Can't just leave us hanging like that. Well it feels light and well balanced. I dont care for the trigger much. It felt like 7lbs but seemed to break crisp. I am used to the henning flat trigger in my Witness Match which is about 3lbs. Im guessing the total movement of my henning trigger is about the same as the reset in the XDm. The gun definitely shoots better than me. My buddy who is the RO at the range I go to definitely shot better than me.
  2. Got mine too Already put a hundred rounds through it.
  3. Got it from guns.com. They seem to have regular giveaways.
  4. Hello guys, I am hoping to be one of the first few owners of this gun. I won it from a website and cant wait to get my hands on it. I am by no means an expert, but, I am a certifiable gun nut. I was a little disappointed that the trigger was going to be stock, but, when I think back to when I bought my Rock Island Tactical 1911 I though wow this trigger has got to be around 4lbs. When I put my buddies trigger pull meter on it, it was a little over 6. Everybody that has tried that trigger always remarks how nice it is and cant believe it is 6lbs. Point is, you never know how its going to feel until you get it in your hands. I compete in 3 gun matches now with my Witness Elite Match which has a Henning 3lb straight trigger and is very accurate and I still suck. Most will blame the gun when its the shooter that is the problem. I cant wait to get a hold of this thing. Rob, when are you going to be in Virginia next? Maybe you could show me how this gun works?
  5. So here is what I have done so far. I took a dremel to the rear site and used some green Bright Sight paint I had laying around. I ordered some replacement fiber rods for the front and I am going to figure out a way to melt the end of the fiber to make a larger bulb to create a bigger dot. I also want to polish the area between the holes of the front site to create a reflective surface to make the fiber a little brighter.
  6. So Canyon Creek will do the machine work, but, it would probably cost around 200 just for that then the price of the sights. I may take the dremel to the rear and open it up a bit then add a single line in the center of the rear sight. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
  7. Sorry, I forgot to respond to the other part of the question. Yes my gun is the newer version with the rail. I'll have to send Canyon Creek an e-mail and see what they say.
  8. The guys at XS big dot said the same thing that the slide was to hard to machine. That sucks.
  9. I am looking at XS big dot sights for my Elite Match. Problem is, they do not make a specific sight for the Witness, but, they do make sets for the CZ75B, 85B and 97B. Are these the same cuts as the witness? It looks like the front sight is cut the same but not sure. I have crappy vision and a really hard time with a standard front sight. I would be willing to have my slide machined to be compatible with a more common cut.
  10. Why do you say you need long ammo? I have run just about everything through mine with no issues. I loaded out to 1.2 before and had problems. I have also read you can run 10mm mags to run extra long ammo. Might need to get into reloading.
  11. I love mine. In my opinion, that will complete your gun.
  12. What about the trigger? Is that the OE match trigger? I added the Henning straight trigger to mine and all I can say is wow. The pull is a little over 2lbs.
  13. Nice. Just curious what your overall cost was compared to just buying a Gold Team?
  14. I have been shooting lead cast since I bought my elite match. It is smokey and I never shoot them indoors. I wear rubber gloves when Im loading. I use Accurate #9 which seems to keep leading down a bit. I also use viniger and hydrogenperoxide mixed 50/50 to get the lead out. I only leave the barrel in for 10 minutes then scrub a little and done. Some say that combo is corrosive, but I havent seen any issues.
  15. I think I will stay with the stock spring for the flat trigger. Mine is coming in between 2 and 3 pounds. I love it.
