Yes, sorry about that...........Saturday morning.........0700 alll shooters will be required to help tear down the stages on Sunday due to the Arizona Cardinals being in the Superbowl..........and I have to go watch my team win the world championship......... Steve

Hi All, been really busy and don't get a chance to get on here very much........ Round count should be about 275 rounds.........give or take......most of the stages should be posted tonight on the www.riopractical.com or here on BE......my good buddy Kyle said he would try to get them up tonight................. if you want to come out on Friday and get your packet, please wait until after 1:00 or so.....the staff will be shooting but Polle will be in the Activity Center.......if you have shot the WSSSC in the past, you will know that we have done all the stats in the practical pistol stat office, this year we will be using the Activity Center, it is the same one used for the Area 2 and the Mystery Mountian 3 Gun.......so you will find her there on Friday..... We will have a shooter meeting on Friday at 0700.....so please be prepared to start shooting at 0730 on your stage...... we will be randomly collecting ammo for Chrono, and will be weighing guns and will have the box like we had last year.....please check the rule book this year........several shooters shot for no score last year........also check the holster rules......we will be checking them as well..... If you have any questions, please let me know......I will check BE daily until the match............Steve

Hi All, My new motorcycle has been destracting me for the last month or so........for that I am truly sorry, but not for enjoying that motorcycle.....lol anyway, I sent out confirmations from my work e-mail......and I thank you for not responding back to that.........I do have to say, I got a bunch of delivery notifications that advised some did not go thru.........maybe we entered them wrong, or we couldn't read your handwriting........regardless........so far everyone is in........we are at about 120 shooters.......if you check clears, you are in..... I put down some hotels that I know of, that are 20 minutes from the range, and have some good food nearby them...........La Quinta and a Country Inn suites......both located at Power (or Superstition Springs Blvd) Rd and the U.S. 60............several restaurants in walking distance of them...... Please let me know if you have any questions..........do not have a total round count yet, but hope to in the next few weeks......if you are coming to Area 2, you can contact my partner in crime, Kyle Schmidt, he will be there shooting.....I however will not be. Greetings, the dates for the 7th Annual WSSSC are going to be Jan. 31st and Feb. 1st, 2009. Shooters will shoot on both days, no exceptions, staff ONLY will shoot on Friday Jan. 30th. it is a good bet that the weather cannot be any worse that last year........... All but one of the stages are complete............total round count will 229.......if I get a wild hair, I will add one popper and make it 230! Steve

I have been a close friend of Rob's for several years now, and being part of his inner circle I had the privildge of attending Nyle's funeral today........I starting spending time with Nyle in the early 90's.....he was always out at the range taking pictures........what else.....he was interested in me as he always wondered why more law enforcement officers were not involved in the shooting sports.......at the time, I was one of.......maybe one or two that shot at Rio Salado on a regular basis..........we had many discussions about this.......I have several pictures that he took of me that I will cherish forever.........I came across one today after the funeral that he took of me when I was shooting one summer day when Rob, Larry Vickers and myself were out at Rio shooting....it was the first time I met Larry and I remember thinking "Dude, why are you out here in Arizona in the freakin Summer time?"........ One other picture that Nyle took was of me at my second Bianchi Cup........that was last year, 2006, he and Carol drove the motorhome out there, and I remember Rob telling me he didn't think the motorhome would make it..........it did, and Nyle was able to take the coolest picture of me shooting that I will ever have...........a few weeks after the match......while at a family get together at Rob and Kippi's, Nyle cornered me (more about this in a minute), he told me that he took a picture of me at Bianchi that he wanted me to have.........I stopped by Nyle and Carol's house a few days later and he gave me the picture......I was shooting the mover....(not very well by the way), and the picture captures the flight of the bullet as it streaks across the red background of the wall at the mover........the gun has not started to unlock yet...........Nyle said he has taken millions of shooting pictures and he has only captured that a few times....... I will end it with a funny story about Rob, Nyle and myself........the Leathams would have family get togethers at Rob and Kippi's and on the times that Nyle and I would be there together, Nyle had this nack (part of me thinks he had no intention of doing it, but the other part of me thinks he knew exactly what he was doing) of corning me, and talking with me for an hour at a time.........I really enjoyed the talks, and Rob would stand behind Nyle making faces at me trying to get me to laugh, or not pay attention to the conversation.............those times were really funny..........I guess you would have to have been there........ Rob told me a long time ago..........."the most important thing you can give someone is your time"..........so make the most of it....for you never know when that time will end...........I will miss Nyle. I talked to Mike V. at Area 2 and he said the SS classifiers on record now will up load in Jan.......I see that Chris E. is here, and he is probably correct in that there will be a lot of unclassifed shooters.......with that being the case, I would like to see if USPSA will allow the current situtation of using the highest class on record (except open).....that is what we have been doing for the last two years.....I will let you all know as soon as I hear........ And Chuck, I said I ordered good weather.........I have to have an out if the weather sucks.....I can't promise...... See you in Jan.

One more thing........we cannot accept any applications after Jan. 1, 2008........this will give us a few days to get all our numbers figured out.........I anticipate that it will fill up, and there will be a short wait list..... Again, if you have any questions, please let me know...........

Just a quick note to let you all know, the match as 70 shooters entered. Like my previous entry advised, we have to limit the total number of shooters to 170. I anticipate the match filling up quickly after the Area 2. So if you are thinking about shooting, I would suggest getting your application in sooner than later........ I have ordered up some great weather for this year's match........I will also do what I can to post the stages, but I am not much of a computer guy.......but I have a buddy who is.......I am going to contact some hotels for some discounted rates, and will let you know as soon as I can........ There is nowhere on the application to indicate what day you would like to shoot, so please, make a note on it when you send it in........I will probably limit Sat to 100 shooters, and Sunday to like 60........if you shoot on Sat and head home, your plaque will be mailed to you.............. Steve
