  1. Just an FYI, you must meet the USPSA Open rules, caliber must be at least a .355, and must make a power factor of 125. Yes, we will have a chronograph.
  2. Hi all, this year since we are a level 1 USPSA match, and since my late friend Mike Voight told me,"it's a level one match, you can do whatever you want'". This years match will be great, and we are going to do something a bit different. We are going to have an Open revolver class. So for all the ICORE guys who shoot Open, there will be plaques for first, second and third. As well as a high Major shooter. So if you shoot ICORE open, come out and shoot our match.
  3. I just found a good load but using CFE Pistol, and 115 Montana Gold JHP. 5.1 grains. I loaded to 1.125, I found that the slower powder gave me some good results. Grouped just over an inch at 50
  4. You're awesome ChuckS, I just got on here to post this. thank you very much. Steve
  5. Hi Chuck, I tried to send a link to the 2016 Western States Single Stack Championship, however I could only copy the page from the Rio website. the staff match is Wed. Nov. 9th, the Western States Revolver Championship will be Thursday the 10th, WSSSC for competitors will be Friday thru Sunday 11th, 12th, and 13th. 2016 web page can be found at www.rsscaz.com Thanks, Steve
  6. The name should now be changed to Competition Optics! Because continuing to call it "carry optics" is like calling a liberal democrat a progressive. The division had potential, now it's a joke!
  7. It's actually 6 rounds in 5.7 seconds....anything over 6.0 is an overtime shot.
  8. In looking at the 2013 IDPA nationals.........Glen Shelby won CDP with a time of 244.59......Jerry M won ESR with a time of 294.66..........the second place finisher in ESR was over 100 seconds behind Jerry. Jerry's time would have put him in 6th place in CDP..........that is totally awesome....but we are talking about Jerry here..........the second ESR finisher would have been 41st in CDP......
  9. Ok, someone along the line started hitting the crack pipe.........no way could the ESR compete with the CDP guns.....! I recently got back into IDPA as I have started shooting the revo in USPSA and ICORE.....ESR is a good place for me to shoot my .45 revolver.......I don't know anyone that can load a moon clip revolver as fast as they can a single stack 1911......... My hope is that IDPA just combines the two revolvers into one division........
  10. Last Spring I took over one or our local ICORE clubs, and bringing a USPSA match director background with me, I have really tried to set up stages that are both challenging, fun, and 6,7, and 8 shot neutral.....I really think that stage design is the key.....I usually have one steel stage, one classifier, and two "field courses"....on the field courses, I try to make it that the 6 shot shooter is not totally screwed, but also set it up that the 8 shooter may be able to shoot additional targets.....one of the big things I like about ICORE is that it doesn't force me to set up stages a certain way!
  11. LOL.....thanks guys.....Yes, i think I will go big....240-250 PF.....to start.....round count should only be about 60 rounds or so.....we will probably only use the paper stages......not sure how the steel will hold up.... checked for speedloaders for my my 629.....could only find the HKS and Safariland comp I (the cool set up when I was a young cop carrying my 64)....... Steve
  12. Thanks guys, Yeah, I think i will limit it to ..40 caliber mags and above only......as there is already a place for the .357 guns as is most shoot .38 out of them.....now I will just research the PF that I want to set the minimum at......what was a typical .41 and .44 mag load from the 70's? Good point on the steel....thanks Steve
  13. At my local ICORE match this weekend, some of the guys got to talking about a Magnum Major power factor category for our local monthly match..... the idea being that you could shoot other your Open, Limited or Classic category.....and if you want to shoot a second gun for fun, it would be scored only with the other Magnum Major PF guns......so here are the few rules we came up with.... has to be a .357, .41 or .44 magnum....loaded with that caliber brass, and must make a minimum power factor of......????? This is where I have been doing some research.....I am thinking about 210 or 220 as being the minimum.....I will have a chronograph at the range to check any suspect loads.....the idea is that it would give a few of us a chance/place to shoot the old school Magnum loads......and a place for us that have .41 and .44's a fun venue to dust those bad boys off..... Also, scoring would be a bit different.....on steel, a miss would count 10 seconds.....making that extra re-load worth it.... Anyway.....I would love any feedback you all might have......... thanks, Steve
  14. I recently got back into shooting IDPA after about a 5 year break......I have been a USPSA shooter since 1988, and got in to IDPA shortly after it started.....I really like the idea of IDPA and most of the rules that is has....my biggest problem with a few of the rules are the subjectivity of them......I have seen SO's at state level matches make several "cover" procedural calls when some were, and others were not..... I run a large USPSA single stack match every year, and have found that I get a large turnout for several reasons.....a few being that the match has integrity and credibility........With IDPA I see too many inconsistent calls, and not giving procedure penalty when appropriate.....just today at a local match, the stage was an illegal stage, but it wasn't fixed (which is not a problem at a weekend club level match, IMO), but when one shooting position was to be shot prone, and a shooter shot it kneeling, he said going in he was not going to go prone.....what sort of penalty should he have received...? I would think a FTDR..... Credibility within the rules (or should I say .....enforcement of them) should be more important that it seems to be......let's get rid of the "cover" issue once and for all...put fault lines out to create shooting from within the area of cover that the course designer wants the shooter to use.....it would make it a lot easier on all involved.
  15. disregard.....my bride found it! thanks
  16. i checked FB....what should I look for? can't find anything for ICORE or IRC...
  17. cool.....ill check it out......thanks
