  1. Hi, bumped this up to see if anything new hit the market since 2014. Still shooting the factory sights, but would love to shoot a deep notch adjustable that requires no milling to the slide (to stay IPSC Production legal). Anyone?
  2. Thanks for the quick replies guys. @tha1000: The ideal PD gun. My thoughts exactly. How CZ hasn't come up with this is yet is surprizing to me. I would buy one in a heartbeat. @kneelingatlas: Thanks. That would be my next question ideed: can it be done with a Tanfo then? So the answer is yes. Nice! Maybe start looking for a Limited HC then. Too bad Tanfo doesn't have flat safeties as a standard option. But since this one will be for Standard/Limited anyways, that's nothing a dremel can't fix
  3. So, is it possible to convert a .40 Tactical Sport to DA/SA? I know the 97B uses the same frame more or less and is DA/SA. What would be needed?
  4. The holster has officially been deemed legal, but yes, it could be adjusted in ways that make it sit too far away from the body. This is a trade-off of having a very adjustable holster, vs. for instance, a BT DOH. However, this is a moot point, since the new version (PDR-Pro II) is coming out within a few weeks. The new version has a better holster body, an aluminum rail, instead of a plastic rail. The rail sits closer to the holster body, providing options to get the entire holster closer to the body. The new version will also be much easier to adjust, height wise.
  5. CR Belts are slightly shorter. The easiest way to pick the right size for DAA belts is to measure the actual cicumference of your waist and select that size (or size up if you're in between).
  6. If the fit of the standard 1911 insert is too loose, DAA can supply a "tight 1911" slide lock, which you can modify according to the instructions mentioned above. This will pretty much guarantee a perfect fit. Some shooters prefer the optional muzzle support on round trigger guard guns, like the 1911.
  7. Thanks Carmoney! Verstuurd vanaf mijn LG-D802 met Tapatalk
  8. RJ, Bamboo & Ede, thanks for the input. Very interesting stuff. I am biased towards fixing the gun to shoot the easier to get components and clips, rather than crying everytime I step on a $7 moonclip at a match. Easiest fix might be to just get a 625 again, but somehow I like the idea of having a very soft shooting 6" revolver. Also, K-frames and L-frames can be had for as little as $100 over here, so it might be worth tinkering with.
  9. Sounds nice. Do you use the proprietary dies for those calibers, or do you use a 9x23 sizing die for them?
  10. Thanks! Revo is starting to itch again I figured, since IPSC is sticking to 6 rounds for now, going 686 might be nice.
  11. Thanks Sascha Do you use Starline exclusively?
  12. I searched but found nothing. Would it be a feasible option to machine a 686 for clips (TK's 9x19 clips) and just process the 9mm brass as if it were 38 short colt? That means sizing 9x19 brass in a 38/357 sizer and loading 357 bullets. I figured this would make for a soft shooting IPSC revolver and less of a hassle matching clips and headstamp.
  13. Thanks, I'll check with them
  14. Bigdave, what kind of adjustable do you run?
  15. Getting tired of switching front sights whenever I go to a different bullet weight, I decided to check out the adjustable rear sight options for my Shadow. Since I shoot IPSC Production, I cannot mill the slide. I came across the CZ factory adjustable rear sight, which seems to be the same as this one: http://www.zendl.cz/index.php/produscts/miridla/106-hledi-shadow The problem I have with this one, is that the notch is too shallow compared to the factory fixed, which gives a sh*tty sight picture. It is only .095" deep, compared to the .125" of the factory fixed sight. The guy who owns the shop in the link above can customize the notch dimensions, but the depth is limited to a max of .095". This means I could ask him to make a narrower notch, to make the width to depth ratio better (.100 wide x .095 deep for instance) which would make the notch appear more square. I would of course have to fit the gun with a much narrower front sight (about .090") and have to deal with a smaller sight picture. I checked out the CZC HAJO. Same thing. Notch is .095" deep. Are there any other adjustables that offer a deep notch and do not require milling? Thanks
  16. I also went the factory plastic grip route. I just added grip tape to them. All the aluminum and wood grips are a step down. They're all way thinner than the stock grips.
  17. Thanks for the fast reply guys. I'll get a new factory disconnector and have it fitted by a smith. Just to be sure, other than having a crappy trigger, shooting the gun as it is now will not harm the gun right?
  18. I ran into the infamous CZ Shadow timing issue recently, where the single action goes before the double action and the trigger bar catches the disconnector. After a little searching on the forum I sent an email to Schmecky (CGW) and he sent me a reply with a picture of the disconnector mod that needed to be done. The problem went away, but in DA the trigger feels very different. Not exactly crisp. It stacks more towards the DA drop and when DA resets, instead of a crisp "click", it makes a dull, soft "clacky" sound. I am hesitant to take more material off of the disco. I am afraid it will make the DA worse. I attached a two pictures. I hope the bevel is visible enough for a few guys to chime in on whether it is done correctly or not. A couple of questions I have: 1) What causes the gun to go out of time in the first place? Which parts wear in and cause the gun to time differently? 2) Does the bevel look good and should I take more off, or have I gone too far? 3) Are disconnectors "drop in" parts, other than the lower side of the "ears"? 4) Does anyone know a good CZ gunsmith in Europe? There are some great gunsmiths in my country, but none of them are CZ wizards like Mink, CGW, etc. AFAIK.

    Thicker CZ 75 Grips?

I use standard CZ hard plastic grips. Old CZs used to come with these. They're the same width and profile as the stock rubber grips, but they take grip tape, since they're hard plastic. All it takes is a little sanding and degreasing. Cheap (CZ Custom sells them for $23 I believe) and they work great for me and my huge mitts.
  20. I also looked for bigger grips. The rubber ones are big, but tacky yet not grippy enough. I ordered a pair of old school CZ75 hard plastic grips. Profile is the same as the rubber ones, but since they're hard plastic, you can stick some grip tape on them. Biggest grips with grip tape and cheap to boot.
  21. Eric G. posted on his FB that he won the WS for the 5th consecutive time.
  22. Thanks! I'll give the site a try and check out some grip makers
  23. Thanks Gerard Are the thick Aluminum grips thicker than the rubber grips?
  24. I took the plunge and bought a Shadow for IPSC PD. Now, I have huge hands and the rubber grips are a little small for me. Are there any bigger grips for the Shadow? Preferably non-rubber because I want to stick some griptape on it. Also, I tend to ride the gun high with my support hand (used to shooting Glocks) and the big safety is right in the way of where I want my support hand to be. Do the small RAMI safeties fit the Shadow? Thanks
  25. I checked for tumbling, but I have no keyholing at all. I'll try different powder charges and loads. Maybe check the crimp. I was also contemplating using another powder. Something slower, such as N350. Sarge, true, but I get 1-2" @15yds and waaay more than double that @30yds
