  1. Am I the only guy that has a secret hidden compartment in my truck?

Shooters crack me up, we spend $$$$'s on guns, ammo, cool clothes to wear but won't buy a good rainsuit or a security system for our vehicles. :roflol:

For the folks that can't drive to matches and rent a car or, those who shoot multigun and go to events in a carpool with 4-8 long guns - compartments are not feasible.

  2. If anyone thinks that two anywhere matches aren't about accuracy, they didn't shoot Ozark this year .

Ozark required as much accuracy as Blue Ridge yet one was IMGA and one was time plus.

I think that IMGA has the flexability to be used in hoser stages and technical ones. Time plus forces you to slow down on paper which isn't as action packed in my opinion. The way it looks when we shoot is very important.

  3. I'm a fan of 2 anywhere.

Accuracy can be made important in an IMGA match if the MD wants an accuracy intensive COF.

Just throw a few of those 4" or 5" plates out at about 25 yards away for a pistol or shotgun and add some micro poppers for a rifle.

We can also use Texas Stars to make people aim their pistols or distant ones for shotguns. The ideas about using hard cover and no-shoots work as well.

  4. The only thing holding the AK back from being a serious match gun is the lack of a free float rail.

My 5.56 AK is accurate up to 2MOA. The sight radius sucks but if you run an optic, you can get around that.

The trigger reset is comparatively long and would hinder you in a close range hosing stage.

I wouldn't shoot an AK in 3-gun because making it match ready would be expensive and time consuming compared to doing the same to an AR15.

  5. I had the same problem this weekend at a major match.

I couldn't hit anything with my pistol and I know I don't shoot that badly. :roflol:

I zeroed the gun and put it in the safe for a week - I took it out for a pre-match practice session/function check and my POA/POI looks like this at 25 yards:

(The group should be centered at the point of the sticky note - ignore the .22 holes)

Fortunately and unfortunately, my performance didn't hurt my finish but next time I'd like to make sure my pistol shoots straight.

    Anyone try the trick yet?

  6. I bet a better time slot and a few commercials would do wonders for the show but it seems to be beyond their control for this season.

For every person watching 3-Gun Nation, there are thousands watching folks throw rocks on Top Shot since it comes on during the evening.

I like the new format. Even though fewer folks get the spotlight - it is focused. "Normal" people will watch television shows to connect with a character as opposed to fans who will watch for the actual sport. The new format allows both at the same time.

Drama gets people to watch and they increased it a bit this season. It is pretty civil right now and I hope it stays that way.

I would love to see a team relay race format.

With all of these corporate shooting teams, how are we supposed to know who is the best?

  7. I completely support coaching new shooters at local level matches.

On the subject of major multigun matches, I'm split on this one.

I believe bad stage design plays a big part in it.

The stage should have enough clarity for most experienced shooters to run it without assistance.

I've shot multigun stages so overly complicated that a majority of the shooters would have penalties without RO coaching. For example, hidden targets and memory stages involving target hunting and targets with poor visibility fall into this category.

On the other hand at a recent match - I witnessed unwanted coaching cause shooters to accumulate time on the clock due to confusion.

In the case of squad mates coaching squad mates - if the stages have clarity, your squad-mates coaching you will slow a good run down and make it less competitive.

Also is the consideration of safety. If I'm shooting any sort of match and I hear loud yelling from the RO or spectators (other than called hits), I'd have reason to believe that I need to unload and show clear since something has gone wrong (there is a man downrange, unsafe conditions, etc).

  8. It seems like two anywhere scoring is becoming popular in multigun and after the pistol shooting at the PROAM, I'm not really seeing many huge advantages with running a dot. In the last several matches I've participated in, the pistol targets are steel plates or paper targets that need two holes.

What would be the disadvantages of running irons in open for multigun? (in addition to a compensator and 170mm magazine)

Calling a delta on paper is pretty easy and those steel targets allow plenty of time during transitions for great sight alignment.

  9. I plan to be at the one next year with a team and hope there will be others like it!

I can't imagine an irons only match, but an irons + HM match MIGHT get 100 entries. I really think there should be 4-5 divisions and things ran well at LaRue this year and likely will at Ozark.

I would like to see one big prize table where shooters go by percentage of the division winner (like LaRue).

  10. Tac-optics only would exclude a lot of equipment from a lot of shooters (and a lot of sponsors).

    DanO

+1 and there are a lot of talented niche shooters that would no longer have a division. (HM and iron master shooters come to mind)

Can you imagine the shakeup if everyone had to shoot HM/Lim?

You don't want us coming over to Tac Optics anyway. Can you imagine how fast Mr. Ray will be when everything is 4 times closer? :P

Ozark is definitely going to be fun this weekend with more than a few folks trying out a new division.
