  1. I just got some Barry's .40 in, will load those up this week and head to the range. I'll post what I find with those. I will be using AA#5 and some Power Pistol, just curious to see if it's the bullet (being the common denominator). Thanks for the info Jonesie!

  2. Thanks G-Man...I found that link on another post in the forum. Better to have too much than too little so I do appreciate it. Have you ever had this problem with your 41? I just ordered the Herrett grips, do you think this could alter my position and stop pushing the safety up? It's really not going up all the way, it's like somewhere in-between but enough to stop it from shooting. Thanks!

  3. Hello All,

I hate to bring up an old thread but instead of starting all over, this one hit the nail on the head. Finally getting this searching thing down!

I'm having all kinds of problems with that thumb safety on my M41. During the middle of a string, I would inadvertently push it up and well, you know what happens next. It is so frustrating! I really don't want to change my grip just for one gun so that is out of the question. I looked at Clarks website and didn't see anything about a different safety so I guess nothing came of that.

Alamoshooter, any advice on the procedure to remove/disable it? Any other ideas from anyone else?

**Yes, I know, disabling a safety is not recommended but I fully accept any actions that are the result of any procedures that are recommended or suggested. Thanks**

  4. I purchased a mini shop scale at Northern Tool that does oz, pounds, etc up to 25 lbs. It was only $30, I think. It's really nice to have around to check your weights of parts and your guns. If I can find the link or more info on it, I'll post it here. Sorry to hear about the bump in class...

  5. AzShooter, I really doubt the flames are being thrown 60+ yards downrange. It is almost as if the powder has adhered to the base of the bullet and is burning in flight. I didn't know or don't know if this is possible but what else can it be? Anyone got any other ideas?

Jonesie, did you try loading up some more and shooting it again through the same pistol? Since they have been sitting around so long, I wonder if that allowed the powder to bury into the base. A new batch should not display the same flame. Let us know if you can do this, thanks...

  6. The longer sight radius is nice but it would be better if she could handle the 7.5 first. It just seems a little unwieldy to me and I really didn't care for it. The 5.5 I currently have is "zippy" and feels so much better. The longer sight radius is nice but comfort level and "gun in hand" feel is more important. Good luck with Steel Challenge, it's a blast!

  7. Threeheadeddog,

There are no real restrictions except if it has optics or not. Everything else is pretty much open game. There was a segment on Shooting USA that covered the WSSC and National Steel Challenge . There were some really great looking pistols in there with some great modifications. If possible, try to catch those episodes.

    Take care...

  8. You would probably get some shooters from the Charlotte area. The Spartanburg, SC match is on the same day, and about the same driving distance for me.

Scott, do you shoot at the Spartanburg matches? I'm going to try to make the Clayton match also. Good luck...

  9. The general rule of thumb is light in open guns and heavy in limited guns. You can switch them up like you did but seems a little odd, I wonder what Bob goes by. Anyway, you can use the plug from the RM but not the other way around. It states in their instructions to not use a different plug other than the one that came with the RM. I think it has something to do with the cracking but not sure on that. I got most of this from a rep at STI (except the cracking part, he wouldn't comment on that).

  10. Wilsoncreek,

I've heard this but I've had the FTEs with the factory string also. It is true if the spring is too light and the loads are up in PF, then yes, I agree that could be the cause of the FTEs. However, it's happened to me with both springs with many loads so I don't believe that is a valid argument. I'm not saying I've had a lot but enough to piss me off. Out of about 4K rounds I've put through my 9Ps, I would say I've had about 10-15 FTEs. And you guessed it, they almost always happen in a match :(... I'm going to try the new extractor from Apex and see how that works out for me...

  11. I just purchased one and it is waiting for me at my house but I'm out of town now. I'm going to mount it next week on my 10/22 or 22/45 and try it out. I may try to mount it to my one of my IPSC guns, not sure yet. I will write back next weekend to let you know how it goes.

    Take care...

  12. Also, you can buy a rail for a slide ride C-More, I think Shooters Connections have them for $15. The rail just attaches on the bottom. I have one on my 22/45 with the stock rail mount and a slide ride that I purchased the rails for.

Allchin would take the slide ride directly...

  13. There was an article about last years WSSC and I remember quite a bit from it but I don't remember if there was a section on the kind of "iron" sights. I'll try to find it and write again, unless somebody else knows it. I watched the show on the WSSC and the National SC but really don't remember that either. I use all optics and I guess I was just paying attention to those mostly. I'm sure that most are using FO (fiber optic) sights now, it seems to have taken over in most shooting sports. I know that for the optic sights, the C-More was in the upper 80% range and Jessie won the ladies division with a C-more mounted on a S&W M41 with a Bully barrel.

I run a SC match here in South Carolina and at my matches, most have gone the optic route but the ones who shoot iron sights use mostly FO versions. I would say about 75% of them are FO while the rest are true iron sights.

I will try to get more info and post it here...Take care...

  14. I use a C-More Rail on my Ruger 22/45 and it's great. I have the 8 and 16 MOA dots for it. I do like it but I am looking at dropping some weight (on the gun :)) so I purchased an mRDS sight. It's only .85 oz without the mount so that should cut it down some. I'm interested in hearing what everyone else has to say...
