  1. Has anyone run into any certain models(date produced) of 41 that are better or worse to put this barrel on? Have there been any design changes that would affect the installation of a Bully barrel? I have seen some models from 20 years ago that really look almost brand new. Just wondering if it matters to put it on a newer model or older model. Thanks for any more info...

  2. You are already shooting minor in Limited, are you going to shoot minor in Open also? I mean, if you really want to standardize on one load, make it one minor load you can use with your Limited and Open. However, I do agree with Pezco about the MG 121, very nice bullet to load multiple ways. Good luck!

  3. Man, I'm glad I got one of his last barrels! Are there any other mods that should be done to the M41 besides this barrel? Thanks

Not much...lots of folks put the Herret grips on them, maybe a lighter recoil spring and maybe a little bit of trigger work (doesn't need much). That's about it really. R,

Thanks G-Man. I'll look for the trigger job to be done soon but other than that, I'm going to enjoy shooting that baby. The barrel is even better than the pictures of it - Ray does some great work!

  4. You are good to go. I only put three on my belt, one in pocket, one it the gun for just about any CoF. There have been a few exceptions such as an all steel, 32 target stage. Yeah, I missed a lot and used just about all my mags (had two in my pocket). When running L10 or Production, I usually have 5 on my belt, 1 in my pocket and 1 in the gun. You sound like you are prepared so "let's get it on" :)

  5. INDIVIDUAL DUAL MEMBERSHIP

I selected the dual membership option when I renewed my USPSA membership this month. I just received my USPSA renewal in the mail. There was no mention of the dual membership or anything from the SCSA.

Has anyone used this option on the USPSA site? Does the SCSA membership stuff come separately directly from SCSA?

What's the deal? No card, no membership number, no patch? Nada?

I received a patch, sticker, card, and letter when I joined SC but I did as a life member. That shouldn't make a difference but you should have at least received a card. Call up Kim at SC and ask her about it. The SC folks and USPSA folks all sit in the same office so it seems like it should have all come together but I really can't speak for them.

I'm sure they will take care of you, just give them a call or email. Take care...

  6. FFL,

Is it still working okay? How many rounds have you shot now? I'm going through the same thing with a shorty STI that I want to use for Steel Challenge. I have some more springs on order and they will be here in a few days. What do you think helped you the most? Thanks...

  7. Just throwing in my two cents...I just purchased the Cheeley mount. Not that I didn't think long and hard about the Quinn II but it really came down to aesthetics, I just like the style and look of the Cheeley. I'm mounting it today and going to the range tomorrow to try it out. I'll let you know how I like it...

  8. Yeah, it's probably almost impossible to make major with that gun and AA#2 (safely). I use AA#7 or 9 in that line but my old favorite is still Blue Dot. It easily makes major with my STI Open gun (7 ports), decently clean but not the best, and cost is reasonable. I have to admit the cleanest powder was Vy powders but the cost per round goes up also. I purchased a couple 8lb canisters of Blue Dot so I'll be shooting that for a while.

Just curious, have you looked at Jeff's loads (http://www.k8nd.com/ipscload.htm)? It's a really good collection of .38 Super loads. I know you are using Super Comp but I run both through my open and I haven't seen much of a difference. As a disclaimer, I do recommend only using factory tested loads in a safe firearm that has been checked by a competent gunsmith.

    Good luck!

  9. For our club, we allow both since both are fine. About 99% of shooters take their bag/rug with them to the line and lay out the mags to get ready for the strings. I also take my shooting bag to the line and pull out my mags to prepare for the strings.

Under no circumstances should anyone walk around with an unbagged/unholster firearm. I'm sure you know that but make it clear to all the participants, you wouldn't believe what I've seen so far for our matches.

    Good luck with the matches...

  10. Hello All,

I searched on the forum for info about the SP22, in particular the M4. I am looking at trying one for the Steel Challenge and wanted to see if anyone else has tried one and what experience you have with it. Has anyone tried to adjust the trigger? I read that the trigger is adjustable but I didn't see any instructions on it thus far. What about reliability? Particular ammo that it likes/dislikes? Yes, I have a 22/45 and a Buckmark but I'm looking to try something else. Not really interested in the 41 although it's a great gun. Any info would be appreciated.

  11. I use Blue Dot for my .38 Super loads and it runs great! It is a little messy sometimes and isn't the cleanest powder but when shooting major loads, it is great on felt recoil, on major loads, and the wallet. I use it in my D 550 and no problems with it sticking or metering at all. When I chrono a group of 10, I usually only vary by about 20-25fps.

  12. Hi Walsh, I understand what you're getting at since I did this myself several years ago. I found the lightest springs I could get, used light bullets, and then loaded my rounds as low as I could go. I got some really wimpy rounds going downrange but had lots of problems also. Then there is the fact that was already mentioned about slow bullets hitting steel. In Steel Challenge, there is a rule about a round traveling at least 750fps and that's why it's there...slow bullets do not fragment well and can be extremely dangerous. Another thing I found is that if some powders are loaded too light, there can be a danger of it ignition problems.

I would just stick with the lightest loads (within manufacturer recommendations) you can cycle reliably and work your way up to your PF of your choice, making sure they are not moving less than 750fps. I've been there brother so hope this helps, take care...

  13. I also went with the .100 in Red. I like green on rear sights but not front sights, I don't care what part of the color spectrum they are :) A friend of mine in my club swears by the green front since he was so used to shooting open with a red dot, he kept forgetting about the rear sights and kept pulling the trigger...ooppps....:)

  14. thanks sarge

    Hi Bigcat,

I also started with a Witness many, many moons ago and know what you are going through. My best source for most of that stuff was at gun shows and talking to others in gun clubs. If you want new stuff, Henning Wallgren (http://www.henningshootsguns.com/shop/main.html) is a great guy to do business with. I purchased a lot for my witness through him (my wife shoots it now), he ships super fast, will give great advice, and like I said, just a great guy.

Good luck with your gear and welcome to the sport...

  15. Yeah, I'm curious about this too, how is it dangerous?? I have heard of a guy in Florida that jerked his pistol out of his Serpa at a match and shot himself in the leg. Well, this is solely on the shooter, not the holster.

Please let us all know why you believe this so we can decide for ourselves. Thanks...

  16. I purchased and shot a 9L for a short while when I thought I was going to make it into a limited gun. Then I decided to keep my STI for that and shoot the M&P in Production. So I sold my 9L and purchased a 9Pro and have shot about four or five matches with it. Believe me, if you can feel the difference in the slides, you need to be doing calibrations for NIST. I really can't tell the difference and I like the trigger and sights on the 9Pro as they are for the Production class.

  17. Probably not a lot of help but I haven't had any problem like that with my M&P 9Pro. I have had a few failure to extract problems but that's after it's dirty and only a few after about 2500 rounds. I am loading my rounds out to 1.148 and never had a light strike or failure to ignite. I have used Federal (my favorite), CCI, Winchester, and Fiocchi primers.

I hope you find out what it is, these pistols are great!

  18. Also, Erik Lund (Bear1142 here on the forum) has just started shooting a 556 for Team SIG. You might just send him a PM, he knows his stuff and wouldn't be shooting one if he didn't think he could win with it.

Thanks a ton, I'll see if I can get his input also. Appreciate the comment!
