  1. I recently started loading with #2, and was confused over the improved vs old, so I emailed them about it. I asked if all the cans of improved should have improved on them. this is his reply "Bob, Ever since 1993 the powder have been the no2 “Improved”. The “improved” has been dropped since 2003/2004." I would guess that unless you have had it awhile, its the improved, if it says so or not. I wanted to know as I found some data that showed quite a bit less than other data I found. Hope that helps.
  2. i gotta say Ax is pretty cool. I like the hound group. We had Irish Wolfhounds when I was growing up, shoot for probably 25+ years. Ive got a real soft spot for the wolfies. The working group is close second. I love a German Shepard

    Grammys

I watched a little off an on. It sucked. Paul McCartney did saw her standing there. IT was good. I always enjoy Neil Diamond (im old, what can I say.....) Stevie Wonder is good 4 piece band keith urban, john mayer, bb king, and buddy guy had the potential to kill, but it was too short. the rest sucked dog ass. It was horrible. Except katy perry is hot...... I was hoping the air raid sirens would go off, and the air strike was going to begin. I must be too old to "get it". Ive got a ton of high profile guitar players for customers, so I am pretty up on music, but that was not good.
  4. Im a newbie to shooting, and I have to say when I just shoot, Im a 1. Too much information overload for me to remember to do 60/40, or 70/30 etc. Now being a newbie, im erratic as hell sometimes. Im working on trying to train myself to be more automatic, no thinking at all once the gun is in hand, and have everything be more muscle memory. BTW, sorry for the hijack, but thats a beautiful Wolfie Fergus
  5. I was involved with drag racing on a professional level for 12 years, before I started my own biz 2 years ago. I built Pro Stock engines for a living, and have seen many very close friends crash. I was crew chief on one ps car that crashed. I stood on the starting line and watched a guy get killed in Louisiana about 8 years ago. Thats very hard to do. I have seen the footage of Scott Kalitta dying at Maple Grove last year. I can totally respect and understand their reasoning for shortening the tracks to 1000 feet for the nitro cars until they get the shut down areas scienced out better. If you have a car going 330 MPH, and stop it really fast, bad things happen to the body inside. Kalitta went through the shutdown, got airborn, and hit a few very large crane type things. I think they are hoping that the extra 300 feet gives the cars a bit more time to slow before going into the gravel. They are still going well over 300 at the1000, so they havent reduced the speed, but they did give hem a bit more distance to stop safely. yes, racing is dangerous, but if you have a problem with something, and you know you have that problem (technology for the emergency area, gravel pits catch fences etc) you need to do something even in the short term to try to fix it, you cant just run the cars down there like nothing is wrong. I feel, and they say, that once they get the run off areas more suited to catching a 2000 car going 330 mph, they will return to the 1/4. I agree, 1000 foot racing isnt quite the same (its only for top fuel and funny car BTW) but it beats getting people killed when you know you have a problem. Insurance, and do gooder legislation are not just a pain in the ass for us shooters, its everywhere. Bob
  6. ok im trying AA#2 hodgdon hp-38 (win 231) Solo 1000 just as experiments. the solo may not make PF with a 115gr fmj, but I want to try it, and I dont think thats an issue for me anyway. looking forward to this.
  7. thanks for the info. BTW, I am refering to the abc's of reloading for general information, and the powder manufacturers info when i look for load data. I will pick up the speer or sierra manual with the powder order, thanks. Right now, I am only shooting the 9mm. I was assuming it was the "normal" clays but wanted to make sure. Are there any other good recommendations for pet powders? I want it to be pretty consistent, and accurate. I understand Ill probably have to play around until I find what makes my gun happy. Bob
  8. I have been educating myself on reloading, and with the help of a friend locally, I am getting up and running. My question is I read a lot of posts about Clays powder. Trouble is, there are 3 of them, and Im unsure which people are referring to. I am getting together an order to get a good group of powders to experiment with in my sig p226 9mm. I have AA#2 im looking at getting Win 231/hp-38 hodgdon solo 1000 WST or WSF Clays anything else I should be looking at? Benefits or cons of these for 115g fmj. I just need power enough to knock down steels, we dont have any pf stuff that Im aware of. thanks in advance Bob
  9. so, which clays is the more common one when people refer to it? Im looking at getting a "variety pack" of powders to experiment with in a 9mm sig226, and clays comes up a lot, but I have been wondering which one. so far i have Accurate #2 getting hodgdon hp-38 (win 231) maybe solo 100 Clays unless there are some other really good ideas (wsf or wst?)

    STEELERS!

The play was reviewed and the call was a fumble from the officials in the review box. Information was passed to the refs on the field. Warner’s final fumble was reviewed in the booth. The announcers noted the review during the game, and the league put out a statement afterwards confirming it. Warner didn’t have control of the ball when his arm started moving forward, which makes it a fumble: According to NFL VP of Officiating Mike Pereira, the replay official upstairs did see the play clearly. “We confirmed it was a fumble,” said Pereira. “The replay assistant in the replay booth saw it was clearly a fumble. The ball got knocked loose and was rolling in his hand before it started forward. He has to have total control.” I’m not sure how the “no-review” meme got started, as Al Michaels reported that the review had taken place before the Steelers came to the line and upheld the call on the field. The rule is that the QB has to have total control of the ball after contact for it to be considered a pass and not a fumble, and that obviously wasn’t the case. I heard that also. you could pretty clearly see the ball got hit as the arm went back, it was out of his hand as the hand started forward, and the hit knocked the ball forward. As for the harrison unsportsmanlike penalty, he shoved the guy, but if you watch teh whole thing, it was just a shove, not a punch. watch teh whole play, his hand is open, shoving him/. I would guess it was a boneheaded reaction to a guy chopping at his knees, at a spot he didnt need to be knee huntin. Stupid play? yes. Deserve a penalty? Yes. out of line to the point of being ejected? no. Hell a Cards player took a full fisted swing at Ike Taylor on the sidelines, no call. Temper is part of the game, and sometimes the intensity gets the best of good judgement.

    STEELERS!

As a die hard STEELER fan I have to say HELL YA. what a game. I almost think I would have been ok with AZ winning if they had pulled off a miracle with 15 seconds left. Almost. Damn exciting game, and my hat is off to the cards. I have been worried for 2 weeks, they were the hot team. Damn what a game. 6 wins. Ie seen them all too, damn, im getting old...... Its good to see the Steeler Nation in here BTW.
  12. thanks for the info. I actually had a guy offer me a really good price on an SDB, so I bought that. For what I have into it, I can educate myself on reloading for pretty cheap, and sell it and buy a 550B later on if I get more into reloading.
  13. First...Welcome to the forum. It really depends on how many rounds per month you plan on loading AND if you plan on loading 9mm. $125 for the press ready to go is a fair price, IF that is the caliber you want to load in. I have seen a few around here for about that price point. If not, you are looking at another 50-80 bucks depending on which brand of dies and then the conversion you go with. If you are looking at 300-500 rounds a month in 9mm. Get it, start loading, and "upgrade" parts to the 550 as money becomes available. If you are looking at loading more then 500-1000 rounds a month, OR you are not going to load 9mm, then you might want to save you pennies towards the 550. With the 450 as a base, you can essentially build yourself a 550 with parts from Dillon, it all depends on what your current needs are. I guess I should have stated, 9mm is the caliber I will be loading to start off. I also am looking at a square deal b that was also offered to me at $150. I would say the 300-500 range is probably close for the time being. Although I can go through that much in a day when Im just playing thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate any input anyone has, as I said Im trying to get edumacated.. Thanks for the welcom BTW.
  14. I have been searching on here for info as well, but I wanted to post. I have a guy offering me a Dillon 450 for $125 with 9mm dies + shipping. Im trying to find out if its worth it to by this, or just wait and get the 550B, hopefully used from someone upgrading I will be a newbie at reloading, and have been educating myself on it. The 550B is more the machine I want in the end, but the 450 is upgradeable to the 550 over time. I guess I just want someone with more experience on them telling me if Im just wasting time on the all manual 450. Ive also been looking at a SDB, but I like the idea of interchangeable dies on the 550B. Sorry for the newbie questions, Im just trying to learn. Thanks
  15. good deal. I need to find such a setup in 9mm. Ive been saving my pennies, and am now actively looking.
