  1. I'm sure others with more experience will chime in, but I also load to 1.125. You're smart in loading a small batch. Test them out and see what works before you load a bunch. Another factor to consider with OAL is what works best in your gun. try out some dummy loads (with no powder or primer) and see what feeds best between say 1.125 to 1.135. Take your time, and you'll find what works best for you.
  2. I had the Wilson 9mm 10 rounders, but they gave me some FTF and they didn't always lock the slide back. I picked up some Tripp's, and have been happy since day one. I also found the Tripp's easier to seat a fully loaded magazine since they have just a tad more space at the bottom for the spring to compress into. This came in handy during USPSA matches. I can't speak about IDPA, but I love them for SS in USPSA.
  3. I've shot all sorts of guns in my life, but I shoot SS because I love the way the 1911 fits my hand. I also love the added challenge it brings.
  4. How much did you spend on the light? I have to wait until Monday to get a quote back from them Got the quote back...YIKES!!!! 62 bucks plus shipping! No thanks...I will just stick with my cheapo led flashlight until I find something else Sorry, missed seeing your question earlier. The way I looked at it, anything else that compares in style and function to what I got started at $200. Got exactly what I wanted in less than a week.
  5. I got fancy and had this guy make me a clip on LED light with gooseneck that clamps onto the casefeeder support arm. http://www.ledrunlights.com/ Works amazing! Found him via google search, and he does just about anything with an LED that you could think of.
  6. Glad you ended up trying the N320. Did you like it? FYI, I've had great luck with 4.1, but your mileage may vary.
  7. Crap, I meant Tripp for my Dan Wesson. I had CMC on my Springfield.
  8. I have a Dan Wesson SS. I started out with Wilson, but found it was really hard to seat a full magazine with a round in the chamber. I really had to slam it in while trying to navigate a stage. I switched to CMC after someone here suggested them since the base pad is slightly more recessed internally. There's more room for the spring, and more give with one in the chamber. Reloads are much smoother!! I also have a S&A magwell, and there is plenty of basepad for it.
  9. This is only my second summer shooting uspsa. In other words, I'm still learning and improving. With that said, I've been shooting minor, and I've really enjoyed it. It makes me focus to keep it in the A's and really pay attention to what I'm doing. On top of that, its been a cheaper way to learn. I'm sure my feelings will change if I get more competitive/better. However, I have found situations where I had an advantage with ten rounds. 8 shot array followed by two steel. I could pick them up without reloading. For now, it works for me, and I'm having a blast learning.
  10. Good points and good info. What sold me was a long term study I saw that compared the results of a low fat diet vs. that of the Atkins plan (followed correctly). The results were almost identical in the end, but there was one big difference. Doing blood work showed both groups had great LDL levels (bad cholesterol). However, those on Atkins had higher levels of HDL (good cholesterol) i.e. you want higher levels of HDL. The end result I was looking for was better cholesterol levels and to lower my high blood pressure. My cholesterol is back to normal, and I just got off my blood pressure medication.
  11. I started Atkins about 9 months ago at 5'8" 205. Today, I'm a svelte 160. There is a lot of misconception when it comes to eating any carbs at all. You need to find your personal balance once you get to your goal weight. For example, my limit is 40-50 grams of carbs a day. For some people that are more active they can go higher because they need those carbs. Its all covered in the book. I think its a completely realistic lifestyle. Its about discipline and eating smart. Also, don't be afraid to splurge once in a while. For my birthday I ate a crap load of pizza and cake. Just don't make it a habit. Also, lean protein is your friend. Steak is awesome, but there are better options. The best part is that I'm not out of breath at the end of a stage.
  12. Even though I'm a photographer by trade I don't have any photos before or after right now. However, I have seen some images here on the forum. I used those as my guide. I started with a Dremel on a low setting and worked very slowly. After I made some progress I switched to a file and fine tuned it. The key to all of it is working slow and planning it out. Stop and asses often.
  13. I undercut my Dan Wesson myself a few weeks ago. Solid and secure feel having it sit lower. Hard to say if it was coincidental until I shoot it some more in a match this weekend, but last match with it undercut was my best one yet. Quite a few more A's!
  14. Does anybody make a good magwell for a 1911 that doesn't fit the box? So, to clarify, would an S&A magwell be legal for SS?
  15. I'll have to digest and make a decision, but you guys gave excellent input! I want to shoot Limited with my Limited .40 gun, but it won't be ready until late summer. I just want to get started before then.
  16. Thanks for the input. I'd prefer to shoot Limited 10 so I could use a CR Speed holster. Any benefits in shooting Single Stack that I'm not aware of?
  17. I'm starting to get my feet wet this summer. I have a Dan Wesson Pointman 9. Single stack, 9mm, 10 round magazines. Would I be relegated to Single Stack division or could I shoot in Limited 10 minor?
  18. I installed it on 4 computers at home this weekend. Its a much leaner OS than Leopard. On average, I have about 8 gigs of extra free space after the install. The cleaned up a bunch of their coding.
