  1. Glen, I had the same problem with an egw sear spring. Switched it out with an sti spring and it worked fine. The two were definitely different.
  2. Just fitted one to my shorty open gun.....alot of fitting compared to a Schuemann. Have to finish up a rifle barrel in the lathe, then I can open up the comp and test fire. Still have a couple spots I want to polish on the bull portion where it is sticking a little and binding.
  3. Has anyone received notification that they got "in" the match? Haven't heard anything from the registration manager since the original confirmation email.
  4. I guess I could have sent you a build sheet with components while we were talking yesterday. You certainly have the equipment to do whatever you want. We might have to do a combined shooting sport package between us....long range rifle, pistol, and AR!
  5. Thanks Jim. I just didn't know if there was such a thing as to low. I did call Allchin, and they told me they weren't sure of the height above the slide, pretty much up to the individual. I will set the shim on it and mark it, then also put a cheely mount on and make sure it clears just in case.
  6. When you guys are mounting your Allchin C More mounts, how much clearance between the slide and the bottom of the mount are you allowing. I read somewhere .015"-.025" clearance, but that seems tight. My thought was to lay a feeler gauge on the slide, set the mount on it and mark my hole to start drilling and tapping. The mount would be parallel with the slide instead of parallel with the frame, but does that part matter? Need a little advice from those that have done this to their frames. If it matters, it is going on a 9 major shorty, and I may switch over to a 90 degree mount later if ejection becomes a problem.
  7. The search function will get you an overwhelming number of results and enough reading to last you several days. I just went through this same thing. Originally I was going to build a 38 SC, bought brass, dies, etc. Then I decided to switch it over to 9 Major. My reason was, I am planning to shoot 9mm in ESP for IDPA, so I might as well cut down on the number of things I am loading for. 38 Super/comp is probably easier to tune and make run correctly, but I am already loading for 40 and 45 and I wanted to keep it simple. I already load to many different calibers as it is, and have consolidated my precision rifle stuff, so I chose to do the same with pistol.
  8. Powder Valley has them for $110/1000 and I get dealer pricing at a few other places as well that get the price down a little more. If a guy is buying them by the 1000, its a wash, I just noticed that MG is about $80/1k if you buy them by the case though. So I guess it is a little more expensive.
  9. That seems to be what I am finding out.....the .356 bullets seem to shoot better. The price is almost the same on the HAP's and the Montana Gold .355's. I will give them both a try and see what the guns likes.
  10. New to this 9mm major and 38 super deal. Noticing that there are .355 and .356 9mm bullets. Can a guy use them both in a 9mm or 38 SC safely? Looking at purchasing some Hornady Action Pistol bullets and they are a .356 diameter. My Schuemann barrel is a .355 and I havent' decided yet whether its going to be a 9 major or 38 SC. I have both reamers. Also, does anyone know if Military 9mm brass is crimped like the mil spec 223 brass?
  11. Thanks for the info guys.....starting to lean more and more towards 9 major and the Dawson comp. Although I also have a Bedell already, I can try it first and see how it does. 9 major is beginning to make more sense since I might have access to 9mm military once fired brass for next to nothing by the truckload.
  12. Thanks guys, I think I will try the Bedell and see how it goes. Most likely this build is changing over to a 9 major....just haven't quite decided yet.
  13. The links, pin kit, and reverse plug are already in the shop. Figured those were pretty standard. We will have to check out those sights.
  14. If a guy were building an open gun in 38 SC with a 5" bull, what would be the preferred comp. Looking at Bedell, Brazo, and Dawson. I did a search, but just seeing if there is any new info out there.
  15. Whoops....forgot that part about it being a 40
  16. Guys, Getting ready to order all the parts for our new limited builds, thought maybe we would post them up and see if there is anything that people would change or won't work well together. 17. 5.0 gr of Titegroup with a 200 MG. Haven't chrono'd it, but its pretty mild and shoots well.
  18. I had to get the cort shot in mine as well. 20 years of daily archery shooting did me in. The shot helped for awhile and as long as I wear the band it stays pretty much pain free. If I shot my bow alot it starts to bother me again or practicing shotgun reloads lately Definitely better than it was 2 years ago.
  19. Okay did a search....the 38 Super Nonte.....headspaces on the case mouth and not the rim...got it.
  20. Eric What is a 38 Monte? Another variation of the 38 super?
  21. Thanks, My slide is cut for a 9mm/38 super breachface.
  22. We just ordered a couple when we were at the STI booth at SHOT show. Talking with guys at the booth and they said they used to have some issues, and they tweaked the mags a little in the tuning phase and now they work the same as the others. I noticed with my other STI 45's that if I load them out a little farther than normal, all feeding issue's go away. Looking forward to getting them in a few months for sure.
  23. From what I have been researching, the 38 Super and the 38 Super Comp are the same chamber, it just takes different tuning to the extractor. Just wanted to confirm this before I purchased a chamber reamer. I am going to start gathering parts to build a 38 Super Comp open gun.
