  1. Hey Bill, I've got a pair of the Uncle Mike's gloves sized large that I'm not using. I'd send 'em to you for, say, $12.50? Let me know, threehundredpoundgorilla@NO_SPAM_yahoo.com... just remove the no spam part.
  2. The sights are self-adjusting to ambient light levels? Cool. Is that why they include those little hoods (other than for just protection)? Extended battery life?
  3. Another question, would an extended firing pin with too heavy a mainspring lead to primer punctures? Anyone ever experienced this?
  4. Is the main benefit or running an extended firing pin being able to run extremely light mainsprings? What are the trade-offs? Reliability, excessive/accelerated internal parts wear, etc.?
  5. I own an HS2000 (the equivalent to the XD9) and a tuned/tweaked Glock 35. For production I'd be all over the 5-inch 9mm XD once it hits the streets, but I'd keep the 35 for Limited. The lack of aftermarket trigger tuning parts is the main reason, not to mention the capacity "issue." The 5-inch .40 XD that I shot at the XD Challenge was, by far, the best shooting XD I've laid my hands on (meaning I shot it better than any other XD I've shot, including my own). YMMV (Edited by 300lbGorilla at 12:13 am on Jan. 6, 2003)
  6. If you've got a good amount of cash burning a hole in your pocket, you could get SVI to build you a gun from the ground up. The two that I've gotten quoted were in the $2100 to $2500 range for .40 here in PRK. Check out http://www.gunbuilder.com to see what you can come up with. Until I hit the lotto, however, I'm thinking about having Dawson build me a P16-40 as you suggested based on both the "safeness" of the gun in the state of CA and the cost. I would have considered an STI, but am a little peeved that they decided to bow to the idiots in office in CA. STI's are still considered safe in CA until 12/2003 (at which time they become WOMD), but I guess that that's moot until STI decides to grow some.... I'd probably buy an STI were I to move out of CA, though. If you've got your heart set on a hi-cap Limited gun in CA, you're pretty much stuck with the Para or SVI. 7. Maybe this has already been covered, but I gotta vent on it anyway (spent some time in a mall this weekend). What the hell is so damned difficult about uttering the words "thank you" when I'm holding the door open for you? I'm using/wasting my time to hold the door, making your life slightly easier. Hell, some people don't even make eye contact. What am I, a super-sized doorstop? Maybe I shouldn't expect a thank you, but I'm pretty sure that I could easily get over feeling like an ass for letting the door close right in your face. Lord knows I've gotten over running into people when they aren't smart enough to at least make some effort to get out of my way (one of the benefits of being measurably larger than a good portion of the rest of the population is not having to apologize for someone else's idiocy). I will say this, though: I appreciate those that do show their appreciation for my small gesture (this goes out to the two elderly women leaving JC Penney yesterday). I'll end with this: What the f@#$ ever happened to G@d-damned m&^*$% f&($@ common courtesy?!?!?!?!?!
  8. Aha... therein lies the problem. I searched the Glock forum for "fully supported barrel" and came up with a locked thread that had very little substance. Then the dinner bell rang. This damn 31.2k connection is the bane of my existence! Thanks for the 411, be.
  9. Hrm... interesting. Thanks for the replies, 3/4time and warpspeed. That site lists $18.50 to roll size and reship 1000 cases (currently I have about 500). It might be worth it. The price for brass is pretty cheap, too. I think I'll invest in ammo to start with, though, then gather that brass and start reloading on the press that I have available (before I buy my own). Probably have things roll-sized somewhere along the line. I've got the same question as kimel. What exactly is roll-sizing? My next question is in regards to what I'm shooting. Currently I have a Glock 35 set up for limited. The spent cases appear to be fine, but I'm not sure whether or not the chamber is fully supported. I'm planning on getting a barrel to shoot lead from (better safe than sorry), but should I move that purchase up on the list solely because of the fact that my stock barrel may or may not be fully supported? Serial number is EEXXXXUS if this helps a Glock-o-phile identify whether or not the chamber is fully supported. TIA!
  10. Heh... thanks, guys. I just stumbled onto the thread, thought that there must be a philosophical question judging by the number of replies, and started reading from the back. Lucky for me, eh?! I'm kinda surprised no one's asked what I was doing up at 4am on Christmas morning... Email's on the way, Brian. Wicked cool present to get for Christmas. Thanks!!!
  11. Recently I traded my .45 brass (since I no longer own the .45) for some deprimed and polished .40 brass that I can use when I get into reloading in the not-to-distant future. A percentage of the cases are slightly bulged, but otherwise in good condition. Can they be resized so that they'll fit my chamber (not that I've tried to get them in there yet) and be safe? TIA from a reloading greeny.
  12. That'd be Dog Day Afternoon , BE.
  13. Seeing as I have one myself, I ASSumed it was "large woolly @$$." Then I saw it was IPSC CHIK that posted it and continued trying to figure out what it meant. Then I got really scared. (Edited by 300lbGorilla at 2:14 am on Dec. 14, 2002)
  14. Doh... sorry, nickel and silver kinda had the same finish show up in my mind's eye. Dammit, guess I need a contact lens for that one, too... and with my luck I bet it's non-dominant.

  17. I'd have to agree. Misses are easier for me to recover from than a problem with the gun. For some reason it's more psychologically damaging when equipment takes a crap. I had LOADS of mag problems thanks to crappy reloads this past weekend that truly caused the bulk of my problems. Of course, it being my first IPSC match only added to the stress. Made me wish I was shooting solely steel instead. Unfortunately I didn't realize it was an ammo problem until yesterday. Ah well, live and learn. (Edited by 300lbGorilla at 1:41 am on Nov. 28, 2002)
