Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Long ago I used Bulls-eye and then I was told to use Solo 1000 instead. Whatever the load was with Bulls-eye use the same with Solo 1000. The reasoning was, the Solo is cleaner than Bulls-eye. I would shoot Bulls-eye in my 45 and have unburnt powder all over my fore arm and hand when I was done. Followed the advice and saw no change in accuracy and it was much cleaner.
  2. The Lewistown Pistol Club is pleased to announce two businesses have graciously decided to sponsor our Patriot Match. Springfield Armory and DLead have donated products that will be distributed to the shooters and staff by random drawing. Additionally, every paid entrant and staff will be entered into a drawing for a Springfield XD!!! Also, if the shooters or staff desire, they may purchase additional chances for the handgun for $5.00 a chance during the match weekend. This comes as a nice surprise to the club and hopefully the competitors! If this news has piqued your interest in the match, be aware there are only 2 weeks left to register and there still is space available on all three days. Hope to see you all there! Chris
  3. A little over 2 weeks in since registration opened and there are 67 registered shooters. There are still spots available but they are going fast.
  4. Registration has been up for one week and there are 40 shooters registered so far. Remember there are only 160 spots available and 25% of them have been taken already. If you are thinking of coming you may want register sooner than later.
  5. I just purchased 3/8" AR500 steel for our club in December. I searched online and found several distributors. I am postitive there was more than one dealer in Ohio. I got ours out of Philly. We purchased an 8' x 10' piece of AR500 and had the distributor plasma cut it at no cost on a cutting bed with the steel underwater. Out of that sheet we were able to get 17 full size pepper popper faces, 16 mini pepper popper faces and 15 eight inch round plates. With shipping and tax we paid $1,845.00. When you figure the cost per target face it comes to $38.00 a target face. This was alot cheaper than anything I found from the target manufacturers. We used Chapel Steel, they have two locations in Ohio. I hope this helps.
  6. I read on Glock Talk on Wednesday (6-10-09) PV has started to ship primers. I got a little excited but soon realized they were shipping mainly CCI.
  7. We just picked up 48 barrels at our local reservoir/water treatment plant at the beginning of the month. And they still had approximately 50 or 60 in stock. The best part they were free. A word to the wise, call first, the place is patrolled by armed guards and they don't take kindly to unannounced visitors!
  8. I have the CED 8000, but wish I had the 7000. The only thing bad I have heard about the 7000 is problems with the battery. That being said I also heard the company make it right for the ones that go bad.
  9. IN timing a revolver the pawl that locks the cylinder should engage the cylinder prior to the hammer falling. This locks everything up so the bullet goes down the barrel instead of down the side. If that really was set up for PPC I have a few questions. Is there a stop on trigger? It should be something like a rubber pencil eraser looking thing. If it does have a stop of some sort, my guess is that it was meant to be shot that way. That means some PPC shooters like to put this stop in so that they can quickly pull through the trigger throw but just shy of where the gun goes bang. At this point then they can start to gradually increase pressure on the trigger (compressing the rubber stop) thereby having the triggger break more like a single action trigger rather than the DOA.
  10. We found this the other year and the wife loves them, i think they are pretty tasty also considering I don;t care for egg nog. Santa's Sleighs Ingredients White sugar crystals, preferably coarse 2 cups store-bought eggnog, chilled 1/2 cup brandy 1/2 cup amaretto liqueur 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 2 scoops vanilla ice cream 4 cinnamon sticks Directions Dampen the rims of 4 martini glasses and then line the rims with sugar crystals. Combine eggnog, brandy, amaretto, nutmeg, and ice cream in a blender; process until smooth. Pour mixture into martini glasses and garnish each glass with a whole cinnamon stick. We do ours a little differently, drizzle the inside of the glass with chocolate syrup and forget the sugar and cinnamon stick. Enjoy
  11. I use the Fobus paddle with my Kimber Gold Match. I like the holster, I think it is pretty quick, I use it when I shoot PPC. What I dislike about it is, when I draw the front sight drags in the holster and plastic shavings sticks to the front sight. It is very distracting when you are trying to shoot. I have an Uncle Mike's in right hand (I'm a lefty) that I use when I teach, I don't have any problem with it. I need to upgrade from the Fobus but I just being cheap at this point.
  12. Our Club (The Lewistown Pistol Club) has a member that acts as our NRA recruiter. It is win, win, win for everyone involved. The Club gets $10.00 for every new NRA member that joins through our recruiter and $5.00 for every renewal. The NRA member gets their membership discounted by $10.00. And finally the NRA gets the member. The more members the better! As I said it is win, win, win for everyone.
  13. Here is a website that has exactly what you are looking for. Ken Reed (who I beleive is a forum member) has plans for all kinds of targets and other props. FreeIdaho
  14. Yes you can legally do this. The only draw back is the time it would take you to cock the gun.
