Yep, I use Wilson ETMs, others use Tripp Cobra mags
And Hi-cap would be a 2011

Use the KKM conversion barrel and I swapped the ejector housing out for a 9mm. Never had an issue with the gun, and it was very accurate. I had ran that setup for probably close to 10 years.

I have another cart of stuff to order from SC.
Good to hear that you bought it.

AFAIK, the VIP is only available in 45, 40 and 9.

I've been running a Ti for 10 years and no issue

Yeah, 30oz is light compared to a 5" steel 1911.

They both had steel, I don't think the weight difference is that much on the VIP. IIRC, its 4oz (30oz vs 26oz)

I should add, that on another forum a guy used a 40 VIP and had a 10mm barrel installed for his EDC.

Should be able to. BTW, the VIP come in both steel and alloy.
One friend ran one for a while in 45 and another should be getting his from his FFL this week.

Not sure, but a new VIP, is about $1400 (Tac 4.0 is ~$1800), barrels are anywhere from $150-$275, depending on brand and figure $150-$200 to get the barrel fit.
You might be able to get the 9mm reamed to run 38S, but you'd have to check on that.

Just the grip.
The VIP grip is a full size that is cut down and had the MSH pin hole redrilled

I'm going to chop mine once I get a 120mm mag.

If you want a shorter grip to use the 120mm mags, just chop it. Here's my friends EDC 9mm Tac 4.15

yeah i do like the VIP alot too! just wish they offered 38 super so i can do minor changes to make it 38SCSTI VIP, its available in 9mm .40 and .45ACP. If I understand correctly it has a slightly shorter grip (takes a 120mm mag instead of a 126mm) but does come in an aluminum frame that when combined with the poly grips that all STI 2011s have you can have a 10 shot 2011 in .45ACP that weights under 30oz unloaded (26oz going by the STI website).
Personally its one I have been lusting after for a bit myself.
Then get a 9mm VIP and swap the barrel out.
Here's my EDC Tac 4.15. (w/o light)
No issues running it as a 9mm.
I have new holsters being made to carry it with the APL light

Springfield might source parts on USA made guns from Brazil still if I remember correctly
Correct, from IMBEL, rough cuts done, but frame rails and BTGS done in IL. I remember hearing that there was an issue with IMBEL (which is why the GI was discontinued), so not sure if they are still sourced from there.

A NM prefix in the serial number is a US "made" SA. The TRP, RO and Operators are US made.
The TRP adds checkering, magwell, FCS and fixed sights. The. RO is essentially a stripped down Trophy Match in carbon steel (TM's are stainless).

Blade-Tech DOH, if you don't want to use a full race holster.
The SV 6" LDC should work for the 5.5". I have a friend using one with his Legion ( basically a STI Tac 5.0 with threaded barrel)
Here's a photo of a Blade-Tech for the Edge/LDC that I use for class.

I ran stock 140mm mags that I tuned. If the stock mags don't run, you can always send them back. The price difference between a complete mag and tubes isnt that much, maybe $5
I just recently upgraded a set of 6 mags with Dawson pads and Hardy spacers. It wasn't needed, just wanted to buy something LOL
The Dawson tuning kit is something like $100. Mine has paid for itself, as I've tuned 25+ mags with them so far.

^^^ pretty similar to what I do, but I also size the tube so that they drop free easily. I bought a 170mm tube from here, and the seller said it didn't drop free. A little work with a vise, and now it drops out easily.

Or do what a friend does and load them for match/training ammo, that way no worries of losing them.

Not sure what the Baer is, (pretty sure its a BoMar cut) but the sight has held up well in the as most 2 years I've been running it. The bottom photo was after the initial install, and the top was a few months later.

Or are you talking about mags that hold more than 10rds? I haven't seen any.
