  1. Man, I hate iffy on-line retailers! I got screwed over by an aquarium supply company once and will never order from them again, low price or no.
  2. Wow, this is kinda strange. I haven't been on BE in quite a while and one of the first things that I read is this thread. I had the best match this past weekend since I started shooting about a year ago now. Well this is exactly what happened. I don't remember much about how I shot it and still don't know how I did so well. I do know that I was concentrating more on my job as an SO/RO than anything else, not on the shooting at all. Now how to do it again? Don't know but hope it happens again real soon. G-Man Bart, you kinda summed it up for me when you said "I need to think about not thinking a lot more" Thanks everyone Gary
  3. Just finished reading the thread. I copied and pasted to a word document, everything that jumped out at me. So I can go back and read and re-read it all again. I, like most want to improve. Keep it coming please! And thanks
  4. Thanks guys, any other pet loads from other members? Thanks
  5. So what is my best load for this bullet weight shooting a 5" 1911? IDPA mostly. I found that Solo 1000 works great using 147s out of my G-34, now I would like to load it for my 1911. Thanks for the help.
  6. THANKS, now you're talking! Lots and lots of good tips! I'll try to put it all together and see what happens. I know I need that timer, just keep forgetting to order one. Going to do that RIGHT now. Thanks guys and to the OP, didn't mean to step on your toes, man. As you can see, I need lots of help. Thanks again.
  7. Range time = fun time Match time = fun time Dry fire = borrrring Maybe that will change sometime soon. I'm pretty new to pistol shooting and love the local matches. Learned a lot so far from the matches, this site and others. Any tips for making dry fire at home a little more interesting? Oh yea, just started reloading and still haven't bought a timer yet. TIA
  8. It's a joke SN... it means i don't dryfire. I don't know about you but I hate that dry fire stuff. What could be more boring?
  9. http://www.buffertech.com/stores/1/Glock_MagWell_P145C6.cfm Anyone tried this magwell? And how good is it as far as fit and finish? Would you buy it again? TIA
  10. For what its worth, I ordered the 147s from Precision and had them in about a week. The sight says longer but I received them and the Berry's plated on the same day through the PO. HTH
  11. Is there any load data for solo 1000 for pistol rounds? Everything I could find was for shotguns. There is some data on this forum, I just wanted to know if there were some other published data to compare. Thanks
  12. Thanks for the good info, Ben. Like I said I'm brand new to reloading so I'm gonna show my ignorance and ask what the SD stands for? I have seen this on many threads and haven't figured it out yet. Thanks
  13. Thanks, that's the thread that led me to put up the question in the first place. Just trying to be doubly sure since I'm new to reloading. I am definitely sold on the Solo 1000 after all the good reviews. OK SA Friday, you got another convert!
  14. Sorry I didn't get back to the thread sooner. I didn't know that I had to subscribe to my on thread. I went ahead and ordered some solo 1000 with wolf sp primers. Ordered some 147s in the black precisions and the plated berry's. May be a while before I get everything in, will let you know how it goes when I have everything together. Thanks for all the replies Gary
  15. This sounds like the best advice so far. Not to dismiss everyone else, but I was getting ready to make my first buy and thought that I might be making a big mistake, just buying the one powder. So if I get 8lb of S1000 and a pound of WST plus the primers will help spread out the hazmat fee some. So with WST and the S1000 will I be able to make some good 9 minor loads with different bullet types and weights? Or would you get a pound each, of everyone's favorite powder and experiment like a mad scientist? Decisions, decisions. Any other suggestions are most welcome. Thanks
  16. I'm shooting G 34 in IDPA and new to loading. Getting ready to make my first purchase of powder. I want to try Solo 1000 with some Wolf sp primers, thought I would start with some 147s on top of the S1000. Thought that I should order some other powders to experiment with. What would be your recommendations for other powders to try? May also try some 124s. What would be some good powders for both bullet weights? Thanks in advance. Gary
  17. Sounds good. I think I will give it a try and see what happens. It seems like I try too hard. Could be that Running at 90% would smooth things out. Good tip!
  18. It's my understanding that Lasik will not work for nearsightedness. So what's the scoop? Would be nice to have another option. TIA
  19. Being able to actually see the sights lift. I have been shooting for about six months now, without seeing what I needed to see. It would have taken me much longer without the help of this site and Brian's book. Much more to work on now that I have the ability to see. Thanks to all of you who have helped by posting what you have learned. G
  20. I was thinking about one for a G34 also. The 34 already comes with a lighter trigger than other Glocks. I wonder how much of a difference the classic will make? TIA for all replies.
