  1. My plan is to shoot mainly IPSC so I guess I will stick with 2 170s and 3 140s Thanks Thomas
  2. Thanks y’all for your opinions. Now I kind of understand the, 140mm is quicker to reload (generally speaking) 140mm is harder to fall from your Magazine Pouch 140mm is better when shooting Prone 140mm is harder to get caught on the chair and walls 170mm is good for short stages (I guess there is more.) so there is very good place for both 140 and 170 mags BTW, I was told that 140mm are more reliable than 170mm, is this true and why? Thomas
  3. I am new to Open and thinking to get some 9mm mags for my Gun. Wondering how many should I get in 140mm and 170mm and why? From a novice stand point I was thinking “More ammo the better!!! ” so just get 3 or 4 170mm but I know others might think different so I am asking the experts (anyone other than my green @ss) opinions Thomas
  4. Two Delta, Thank you for the information, I was looking for this information for sometime. I guess I need to get some Thomas
  5. By the way, how much does it coast and how long dose it take to have Hsmith to tuned STI 9mm mags? Thomas
  6. I see Bob has posted 38 Super, has anyone do any 9 x 19 Major? Thomas
  7. I just got my Barry Mount so I can replace my OKO red dot to a C-More last week. It is great to not need to hold the gun low for locating the red Dot. Anyway, I was just wondering how you guys (experts) sight in you C-More. The way I did mine was to hold the gun on an angle so the C-More is parallel to the earth and made the shots, and then make the adjustments. I just didn’t like the draw an X on paper (instead of +) and make the adjustment thing. This might work for some folks but for a simple guy like me holding the gun on an angle was just simpler. Is there an easier way sighting in a Berry Mount/C-More, I am just seeking. Thomas
  8. Has anyone tried http://www.keadbullets.com/ ? They claim The alloy used in KEAD bullets is a 2% tin, 8% antimony mix - very hard and clean. ……..harder bullets that run well in Glocks - stock Glock barrels. Sound go to me since I am planning to get a Glock 34 for production. Thomas
  9. here you go http://www.stiguns.com/cart/aboutmags.html BK Thanks Bkeeler, I will measure my Mags and see what I have.
  10. Can anyone share the measurements for a 9mm STI mag (140/170mm) should be? I don’t have feeding problems but I just like to know. Thomas
  11. If you continue to have problems you might want to send back the gun to S&W they do a great job. Also they will up date some of the old parts like the slide stop.
  12. I am cheep too and use anything I pick off the ground, so mix brass is what I use. I use Dillon die set and had ran my M&P 40 with no malfunctions 3500 rounds. The only time I had trouble was when I forgot to set back the crimp die to the correct setting after I had to use the tool head for a different caliber. Since then I got an extra tool head so that is not the problem. For some reason I notice every time I try to reload a Starline Brass it crimples down and visibly you know it is going to jam. I just think this is an incident that the original user just loaded the round very hot? Anyway, will your M&P 40 jam with Factory ammo or how does your reloads measure up to the spec, you might need to adjust your dies? Good luck Thomas
  13. To start off Great Thanks to the staff, I had a blast. I was on Squad 23, my 6th match of any shooting sport and my first Major Match. Being still new to the sport the only thing in my mind was don’t get DQed…. Luckily I didn’t. Thank God! Anyway, I like to borrow this place to thank the guy that lend me his clear eye protection and sorry I forgot your name. I am sure I wouldn’t make it with my dark Oakley. Also, Craig for his gloves, Barry to getting me in to the sport and coming down from Utah. Sure thing this is a friendly sport. Just Love it!
  14. After reading the responses I am very surprised for what some people carry everyday. It makes me think …… to not to piss off some of y’all. After looking at the suggestions, price of the guns etc. now I am considering going for the S&W J Frames. The 642 price is right and I do reload 38 Special so that helps to. But I don’t mind getting a Glock since I never have one.
  15. Thank you for the all the suggestions, I never carried a gun so it is good to hear from others that had. I realize the point, use a gun that you will carry everyday otherwise what is the point? Mouse gun is better than NO Gun when you need it! For me specially living in Texas it gets hot in the summer time and I sweat like a rag more than most folks! So the inside the waistband holster goes out the door for the hot summer time but I for the cooler time of the year I think that's the way to go. I guess in can use my M&P 40 for the winter time. But for year round climate I need to consider what I can conceal and feels good in my pocket and in my hand. Thomas
  16. I am looking for an automatic Concealed Handgun I cant decide 1. The caliber 9 x 19 or 40 S&W 2. Glock 26/27 or S&W M&P Compact I currently shoot limited with my M&P 40 and love the grip and accuracy. But do like to have something light as much as possible for every day carrying and like to shoot it at the range with my other guns. Any suggestion is welcome
  17. +1 I got my Trubor and mags + etc small parts from Mike (Thunder Mountain) too. Honest and Great Service!!! Thanks Mike Thomas
  18. Hi Brian, I like to add, counting from your modem (if you have one) do not connect too many devices (Switches, hubs or Routers), keep it as low as possible (I like to stay below 5) and between device if connected via cable don’t go over 100m. not counting PC printers etc. Ex. Your modem – Router – Switch – (over 100m cable)- Hub – Switch If this happens your network reliability and speed will go down. If you are planning or think you might add more PC’s printers etc to your network it might be a good idea to get a Switch that can handle 8 or more. I hope this helps. Thomas
  19. I just received my new Novak fiber optic sights it seemed that they were a little too tight to fit so I had to use the sharing stone to shave off some metal to get the proper fitting + a little gun blue. It is a lot better than the original and I think (Hope) to do better that the next club match. Thomas My additional 2¢ Some of you more experience guys might already know, but I am writing this for the novice guys like me. How to brighten the Fiber Optics. I didn’t like brightness of the front fiber optic. This is comparing to my 22 Buckmark’s factory front fiber optic. Spike the fact that the Buckmark’s fiber optic is larger in diameter the brightness should be the same comparing the two under that same light. The problem was that the rear side of the front sight (the side you see when you aim) was melted in to a big ball and distributing out the light that it collected and weakening the brightness. I saw a big difference specially when compared it with the new replacement rod. Solution was to reinstall the front fiber optic melting the rear side into a smaller ball to concentrate the light and have the front side to an oversize ball to collect all the light it can. I hope this helps fpr someone......
  20. All-Gator, Today I did some testing with WSR Primers and the Primer Pressure Sign has diapered. But I have notice the FPS dropped 10~30 with the same powder load. Anyway I was able to get 170PF , 124gr 1.180 OAL with 8.0gr Longshot 8.4gn HS-6 Thanks for the advice Thomas
  21. Yep...the first mod done on my M&P 40 was a Dawson FO on the front. The rear Novak factory sight I can live with, but the factory front was awful for this game IMO. Give KenD a call and he'll hook you up. Thank you for the information, I was also thinking of using a Dawson front and Novak too but didn’t know if there is something better out there or not….. Anyway, how did you remove/replace the front sight? I also use my M&P 40 for Limited and love it!!! Thomas A brass punch and a BFH (Big Hammer). Mine was on tighter than a .... Thank you very much, that is what I thought. I was just wondering if there was a different way to remove the sight. Thomas

  23. I love my M&P 40 after sending it back to S&W for accuracy repair. At 7 yards it was hitting at the 7 o’clock 4~5” off point of aim with a 3~4” spread. Anyway, she is fixed with a lot of parts replaced thanks for the great warranty service from S&W… OK now my M&P is repaired now I like to replace the sights to a more fast aiming front sight. Any suggestions what to get Thomas
  24. Probably too slow and not enough room in the case Alan Thank you Alan that is what I thought. I guess I will stick with Longshot. Thomas
