  1. PD doesn't list the 124 JHP's as a separate component, only in loaded ammo I've bought 4k of the 124 RN 38 Super bullets. I ordered them through the website. The bullets were in stock, and I would recommend calling first to check if the bullets you want are indeed in stock, otherwise it could take a long time to get them! I am very happy with these bullets, and will buy more
  2. Thank you for the kind words I'm having a ball shooting the gun. Got just about 1k of Precision-Delta 124's over 7.5 of 4756 through it...we run 2 steel matches a month as well.
  3. Thanks for the pics! Funny that you can get a new frame for significantly less these days. My gun also came with 7 original Chip McCormick 140mm magazines
  4. Grip Tape Junkie These were a set of smooth Micarta grips I made. I thoroughly degreased them, and applied 3M stair tread tape. Very grippy Before Grip tape, funky Kermit the Frog looking laminated Micarta After Grip tape...
  5. Someone else had made the original slide racker. It attached with two screws, and the top rear of the slide must be drilled & tapped. One of the holes will go through the extractor tunnel. It ain't the prettiest thing, either. Still interested?
  6. Thanks Jordi, and very cool! Do you know how old your frame is? The best guesstimate I could get from STI and Virgil was circa 1993
  7. Button head screws would look OK, but welding up the holes would be the best way to cover them up http://www.mcmaster.com/ has them...I'll ASSume they're 6-40 threads?
  8. S&W can also perform the work.
  9. The Ol' Girl's looking good. I'll second the recommendation for a Kurt vice. Pricey, but the best there is. You won't regret it. I run those things for a living

  11. The finishing touch... note that's some glare under the "p" and you can see the reflection of the camera (and my foot!)
  12. I'm a Tool & Die maker. The company I work for sends part to black oxide at least once a week, so I get to have my goodies "blued" at no cost to me
  13. Thanks This really turned into a major project. I learned a lot, and now I have the itch to build a gun from the ground up
  14. and if that wasn't enough pics...
  15. Got the parts back from Black Oxide today. I did a high-polish on the slide and the small flats of the frame, using 2000 grit wet/dry paper. The rest of the frame, along with the recoil spring tunnel, back of the slide and the rear slide cut-outs got some glass bead blasting. As is usual with me, I'll offer up way-to-many pictures
  16. Here's what I came up with for lightening cuts. I used a stub 3/16 TiAln carbide end mill with a .015" corner radius to do both the slots and the holes in the top. It took longer to de-burr than to actually mill the slide Next steps are to blend the back of the slide to the frame, re-blue the frame, slide & comp and then engrave "38 Super" under the ejection port
  17. Very exciting stuff! Nice work gentlemen
  18. A long strange Tripp indeed! After about 600 rounds, I noticed severe battering of the barrels locking lugs, and peening in the lug recesses in the slide. Apparently the barrel was never properly fitted. The timing was way off. It didn't have enough clearance when unlocked and hit the VIS too soon. Bummer I ordered up a new Caspian slide & Clark barrel, and had at it. So far this is where I'm at, I came up with a simple but effective cocking handle. The slide will get more lightening cuts when time allows.
  19. Lookin' good! You know that you can add an oversized mag release to any Buckmark. I also recommend CCI Mini-Mags
  20. Please post some pics of your Buckmark when you get a chance
  21. Have you detail stripped the gun and serviced the recoil buffer and replaced the mainspring?
  22. Thanks....FYI it's a new, bone stock gun (or was at this match). Factory bull barrel Camper model. Barry Oops, I misread your post and thought you had already installed these parts as slidelock mentioned, check the chamber. Also polish the feedramp making sure it's a smooth transition into the chamber. ...but if you're swapping barrels, I rekon it's all academic
  23. I have three Buckmarks, and all are incredibly reliable. My first though is your choice of an aftermarket barrel with a comp. There could be an out-of-spec, or too tight chamber in that barrel. The comp could also be bleeding off too much energy and not allowing the slide to cycle with enough force. I clean the mags regularly, then lube them with silicone spray. CCI Mini-Mags are my go-to ammo if I don't want any malfs, but they will eat everything I feed 'em. Those Wal-Mart 550 packs of Federal 32 grs work OK...but there are a lot of duds in each box
