  1. yeah, I plan on getting around 910 fps out of my 1911 and the M&P. And then, whenever it gets above 90 degrees, I'll chrono those loads again. Many thanks to all, A.T.
  2. Thanks, I'll watch for that. Today it was in the middle 70's, when it does get above 90 (not often ), I'll chrono again. so damn much to learn. Stay Safe, A.T.
  3. To be honest, I've only loaded maybe 150 rounds on my 550. I agree, a PF of 127 is pushing my luck. In October, my club is having the "Battle in the BlueGrass", I will have a load worked up to get a 130 PF. Many thanks, A.T.
  4. Hello people, it was the cloud cover and the light rain that was causing trouble. Today, the 3.8 gr in my 1911 had an average of 910 fps, and the M&P had an average 895 fps. 3.6 gr had a average of 865 fps, so I'll go with that for USPSA and IDPA. Thanks for all the replies and help. A.T.
  5. Hello people, that's for all the replies. The shades were on and it was raining lightly. I'll go out tomorrow. Thanks A.T.
  6. The M&P has the stock spring, the Trojan has a Wolff 10 lb. spring.
  7. I went to the range today. The load was Zero 147 gr JHP. The powder charge is 3.8 gr of Solo 1000, and the primers are Win small pistol magnum. With my M&P FS (4 1/4" barrel), I got 875 FPS. More than enough for minor. In fact, I bet 3.6 gr will make minor. Any thoughts on this? But, with my 5" Trojan, the same load gave 1275 fps. 400 fps more! That is well above major PF. I did not see any problems with the primers. I shot each pistol 5 times through the chronograph. The RO and I was amazed with the increased fps, between the two pistols. Anyway, to get the fps down to 1000 fps, what should I drop the charge to? Would dropping the charge to 3.4 gr be enough? I'm going back tomorrow and thought I'd bring 10 @ 3.4 gr, 10 @ 3.2 gr,and 10 @ 3.0 gr. Does this sound right? Help please. Thanks, A.T.
  8. I agree, this is what you need. Well IMO. I also keep a loaded mag in my right pocket when shooting IDPA. It helps when sweeping it out of the way. Stay Safe, A.T.
  9. Hello Corey, I have a lot of mag primers and a lot of Solo 1000. I do have some MG 124 I can use, if I get any blow back. Thanks, A.T.
  10. 1.015 is too short (unless it's a typo and you meant 1.150). I load my 9mm to 1.160 and it feeds fine in my S_I (Kart barrel) and both of my M&Ps (4.25" and 5" Pro). Yep, ya caught me. it's 1.150. Thanks, A.T.
  11. Hello people, I just received my 550 and need some advice. I will be using range brass. I do have a EGW U sizing die in the first stage. I need to make minor PF of 125. I have a Chronograph and will check after I see my guns like the rounds. I will be shooting a STI 9mm 5" barrel, and a M&P 9mm FS (4 1/4"). I thought I'd start with an OL of 1.015. Does that sound right? From what I've read here, the loads below should reach minor. Zero 147 gr 3.3 gr of Solo 1000 MG 124 gr 3.8 gr of Solo 1000 Should I drop back a couple of grains, and build up? One last question, after I get the 9mm figured out, I want to load .38 sp. for my wife for target practice. She will not be shooting competition, so what would be a nice "easy" load using ZERO .357 125 JHP. One has a 4" barrel and the other has a 2 1/8" barrel. I'd like to stay with Solo 1000 if possible. Many thanks, A.T. P.S. I'll be using Win small pistol magnum primers.
  12. So near the end of this month, will we get a daily update? If so, just watch the post count go out of sight. A.T. P.S. My 550 will be delivered Friday. P.P.S. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
  13. Brian, I think this is a good idea. But, shouldn't the person that makes the millionth post win something? Just a thought, A.T.
