Yeah, I like them a lot. They are very comfortable and provide lots of traction.

Normally I dry fire for about an hour every day. Lately I've been really busy with school and have only been dry firing for about fifteen minutes a day. The day before a match I will dry fire for about an hour and a half. I have exams this week, but after that I'm going to be dry firing for at least an hour a day in preparation for the Gator Classic in a couple of weeks. I wear mid cut Nike Land Sharks.
  3. A few months ago at a local match, someone was calling out the results for the different divisions. He called out the winner of production, looked at me, and said, " How did you lose to an old fat guy?"

On Sunday I shot my last match before the Gator Classic. I haven't been dry firing as much as a should, and I lost a few seconds on a reload. This is a problem that I must eliminate before the Gator. Just before we started shooting, it started to rain. This was the first match I shot in the rain, and it really didn't have much of an effect on my shooting. The only thing that was a little slower was my draw, because I wanted to make sure I had a good grip. On one stage, there was a popper that activated a swinger. My plan was to shoot the popper, shoot a static paper target, and then shoot the swinger. I wound up accidentally shooting two statics, which made me have to wait on the swinger, costing me a couple of seconds. At the Gator Classic, I plan on getting to the match about an hour and a half early so I can take my time on planning how I will shoot the stages, and commit them to memory in order to eliminate that type of problem. I feel like I am not shooting as quickly as I could be. On most stages, I am only shooting one or two C's. After the Gator Classic, I think I am going to try and shoot a few matches pushing for more speed. What do you guys think? Yeah, I just got my acceptance letter the other day. I can't wait. Hope to meet you there, Kevin
  6. There's nothing in that stage procedure that says I can't use the two closest targets, and shoot them in string one, then shoot tham again in string two. What am I missing? I'm not trying to play games, I just think the wording leaves a little too much discretion. Most other Virginia classifiers seem to specify T1, T2, T3, etc. It says it will be scored best six per paper, so you'll wind up with 12 mikes.
  7. You shoot on two days. Last year, our squad shot about 8 the first day, and then the other four the next.

I shot a USPSA match today after a 1 month break. One thing that I am finding, is that I seem to be able to shoot just as well at a match whether it is a one month break, or a one weak break as long as I keep up with my dry firing. We had a lot of shooters at todays match, and 14 production shooters. I had a good time, and got to meet Jerry Miculek. You wouldn't think that the guy who is working hard, and sticking around after the match to tear down is one of the best shooters in the world. He seems like a really great guy. We shot 5 stages from the open/production nationals. I had too many extra shots, and had one no shoot(I also got the alpha). Besides this, all of my reloads were clean, and I had good hits. 9. Earlier this month, at a classifier match, I shot what I believe to be an 85.8119% run on CM08-03. When I go to my USPSA number, it says that I shot a 77.3990. My hit factor is 7.8947. I am shooting in production, and my USPSA number is A-61677. Am I entering it into classifiercalc.com incorrectly, or what? I don't really care one way or the other if it is changed at USPSA, but I just wanted to know what the deal was. Thanks, Kevin

Mr. Chris, I just saw this post. Thanks for the kind words, it is also a pleasure shooting with you and Haydn. I'm gonna try and make it to Stennis sometime soon, so I will probably see you there in a couple months. -Kevin
  12. I may be wrong, but I think there are 10 targets, and only nine are visible. Watch his first shot. It looks like he is aiming at a target to the left of the first one visible. Also, look at the target in the middle number five from the left of the visible targets and watch the shot go into the berm. At this point you can hear 6 shots have been fired. -Kevin

Thanks for the advice, and I do understand what you were saying about my current percentage. I am definitely more tense while shooting classifiers. Mainly because I felt like I needed to make B. Now that I have made it, I am going to stop plugging in hit factors before I shoot the stage, and just shoot it like any other stage. Thanks, Kevin

Yesterday marked one year since I shot my first USPSA match. I shot the Cajun Acion Shooters classifier match on the first sunday in August 2008 and 2009. It has been the most fun year of my life, and I have met a bunch of awesome people through USPSA. This match was great. The classifiers were pretty fun without a lot of weak hand and long range shooting. My squad was awesome. Everyone helped out with pasting targets, setting steel, and ROing. I won 5 of 6 stages in production, and I think I finally made B class. These are my classifier scores according to classifiercalc.com: Fluffy's Revenge II: 37.2432( I wound up missing the last steel target four times before reloading and knocking it down.) Steely Speed VII: 59.9992 (I looked up the 100% time for this stage before hand, and it is 3.5 seconds. That sounded kind of slow to me, but after missing one of the big steels three times, I have changed my assessment. ) Madness: 65.2736 High Standards: 66.5804 (Two observations on this stage. 1) always have you shirts tucked in very tightly around your magazines so you don't grab your shirt with the magazine. 2) My splits were about the same speed strong hand only as they were with two hands. I feel like it should be considerably slower, or my free style should be considerably faster, but I was just pulling the trigger when I saw the sights on target.) This Sunday is a classifier match. The stages we are going to shoot look fairly easy with only one stage having strong and weak hand. Besides that they are pretty much speed shoots. Hopefully I can finally make B at this match before the Gator Classic.
  17. It sounds like you already have a 17 and a 34, so I would just pick one and shoot it in production for your first few matches. Later on, after you learn more of the rules, you can always switch to open.

Shooterready, Thanks for the encouragement. I probably will slow down my load, but not until after the Gator Classic in October. I shot it last year and placed 13th, but this year my goal is to place top three. So I plan on spending all of my precious primers on all of my weak spots up until then. CHA-LEE, Thanks for the advice. The targets were not visible from one postion, but I know what you mean about engagement order.

  23. This is what was wrong. I've noticed that that nut was loose before, but never had any problems with it. I just weighed 30 drops, and they were all 3.5-3.6. Thanks a lot, Kevin
  24. I have had an SDB for about 5 months, and have loaded close to three thousand rounds on it without any problems. I normally shoot 3.6 grains of titegroup, but today I noticed that the powder looked a little low in the piece of brass just before I was going to seat the bullet. I weighed it, and their were only 1.5 gr. in it. The next drop of powder was 3.6 gr. and the next was 1.4. What could be causing this? Also, if I happened to accidentally shoot one of these with only 1.5 gr. in it, do you think there would be enough powder for the bullet to exit the barrel? Thanks, Kevin
